HTC 10 user here, for 2 years. No case, no screen protector, no damage. The formed aluminum back panel that is also the edges of the body makes it so stiff it has no flex. Would have to slam the glass side on a sharp point to break it, but any kind of regular drop isn't going to have an effect. Smart phones should not need cases. They should be engineered from the factory to withstand falls. It is bonkers that as consumers we accept paying so much money for such delicate tech that goes everywhere we go.

I don't think you know how this phone works. Dropping it without moving it in an angle won't make the camera retract, as the retractions will only occur when there is a significant disturbance detected by the gyroscope and other sensors. So holding it still And letting it drop straight down isn't a good test, it doesn't reflect real-world applications.
From the special relativity perspective the floor does move towards the phone at the same time (obviously the effect is close to negligible but is not zero)

@@anand.suralkar everything is fine and all but when these phones start calling themselves FLAGSHIP KILLER. They've to understand there's more to a phone than just processor. The screen, the camera, the after sales service, the looks etc. I don't think any MI phones look premium. Or have even a decent camera.
Weird that your phone's camera didn't retract when I've seen videos of it fully retracting in a much shorter period of time. Maybe it's holding it upside down that somehow confuses the sensor.
