There is a calmness about your work that translates to video. I am enjoying the build immensely. One small pick up : the grey wire that goes to the gun switch is actually the brake handle for steering on the ground. Rudder input determines which wheel the air goes to. I think it would be aluminium, so the colour is right.
Thank you John I really appreciate that. One of the goals of my builds. And also thank you for that clarification on the wire. I figured it was a switch wire. Thanks for watching and the feedback. Cheers
This series is fantastic and that’s not a word I use often at all.... I could listen to your voiceover all day as well, so you’re a total winner with me! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻 One Sub earned
Wow thank you so much, I appreciate you watching and the sub! Right on buddy, the next episode is edited, need to start the narration. Be well and thanks again.
Great video my friend you doing a stunning job of the spitfire them harnesses look the business great job on the detail painting really like your added detail really makes it stand out have a great Christmas and new year to you and your family 🙏🙏
The separate piece for the tail wheel area is hopefully for a insert for the retractable tail wheel of the MKVIII Spitfire used in the Middle East and Burma..very nice job on your model..looking forward to seeing more of your build of it
John, what you mention as the grey wire is actually the pneumatic brake lever, it connects to a steel cable on the front of the control column. and runs down to the brake control valve mounted between the rudder pedals, which also connects to it so that the pilot can brake one wheel or both, to give him steering on the ground by what's called differential braking. The guns were actually fired pneumatically the pipework coming up the front of the control column. Like the wire on the control grip, love the detail you have in the cockpit.
Dave, thanks so much for the clarification, I'm always amazed you guys know this kind of detail. And thanks for the why as well. Very interesting. I appreciate you watching, be well. Reveal vid should be up very soon!
@@johnalecsscalemodeling Your welcome John, in the 70's I worked on the battle of Britain flight spitfires and Hurricanes, and fitted Control columns in both. So spent a lot of time in the cockpit. I also make models, but sadly not to your standard. look forward to the next video
Hi John, the Spitfire is looking great, it's a little big in scale for my stash as I have run out of room to hide kits, I am looking forward yo the rext of your build, hope you and your family had a great Christmas and I also wish you a safe and Happy New Year, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, you also have another subscrber.
Amazing job done on the cockpit John! Your attention to detail has brought together a highly realistic looking cockpit. Those Eduard seatbelts are in a totally different level and it was a clever addition as well. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend.
Awesome, Richard. I forgot to mention the Y is wider on the PE than the plastic part and does not go through the opening as much as it should. But a great product. Cheers
@@johnalecsscalemodeling received mine - i think the smaller belt should attach to the underside of the seat with the two holes under the seat . I Should have done that before fixing the seat onto the bulkhead - bit late now -will send photos

Hi John, the Spitfire is really looking nice. You do such a nice job editing your videos. I really enjoy watching. Have a great Christmas my friend. Jeff
Great to see these very detailed work, John. Impressive in every case. It's on the way, to become a great model. Merry Christmas for you and your family, John. All the best for the upcoming new year. Best regards, Joachim
Fantastic work John a the old milkman he's a crafty beggar watch out for him lol I'm blown away with the details in this kit and good job with the after-market parts they are much better wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year🎅🎄👍🍻
Regarding RAF pilot seatbelts in 1:24th-scale, an affable British chap named Nigel (Nigels Model Bench) recently used a set comprising thin strips of a fine, soft cloth that folded perfectly as fabric, and photo-etched buckles, that you might prefer. He can tell you where to enquire.
Thanks so much David - yeah Nige is a great guy I respect him a lot. He build his just before me and didn't watch the other series. His approach is more flexible for sure. Those belts are so thick! Cheers
I have this kit on preorder from Hornby's in the UK. Looked at many sites in US and couldn't find it. So, playing the waiting game. I have been following along on Nigel's build. He gave you a call out on his last vid and now I subscribed to your channel. I always look for OCD modelers as they always produce the best results. 🙂 Just kidding, are the Dr. in MD that works for Uncle Sam? Hoping you have a good holiday season. Cheers.
I appreciate you watching buddy, that's where I ordered mine direct from Hornby. Same was not available here at the time. It came within a week but mail time right now is abysmal. Nigel is so awesome and I appreciate the sub. I binge all his stuff except the Spit builds, although I cheated and watched one to see what he did in a part. Yeah that's my day job, I'm here in Frederick. Have a great week
@@johnalecsscalemodeling Well, when I ordered, it was listed as pre-order...i.e. none in stock. In addition to slow mail, Airfix is having to produce more of the kits to fill the backlogged requests. It's great that you're not closely following Nigel's build - as you are another YT scale model channel. This way we have at least two good and perhaps, differing perspectives on how to tackle the kit. Hopefully, you get a reprieve from the frigid temps soon.
@@Ryker06 Ugh, they probably got hammered with orders. I ordered mine mid Nov. That's cool thanks, his will be the benchmark for sure and I am going to marathon watch his series when I am done. I wanted to make it a person journey. I appreciate you watching, thanks. Yeah, it might be in the 50's later this week! Where are you located? Cheers
