Do you have to use the sticker paper from cricut to print and cut with cricut joy xtra or could I get a different brand sticker paper? I have a laser jet printer which cricut papers are not compatible for...

You can use any sticker paper. but you will want to do some testing for the correct cut pressure on your off brand sticker paper.
