I bought the cheapest Range Rover Vogue in the UK. The Range Rover is in a pretty bad way and look as if it had been rolled. Ive since been repairing it and along the way throwing in some upgrades. In this video we start the most expensive upgrade so far... A facelift conversion.

It’s been a long 15 hours at work but nothing better than finishing and watching this awesome guy!
Same🤙🏻
Funny i just finished a 13 hour night shift, 5:30 am here and im doing the same.
Well said 😁
Oh yes! Id watch matt over anyone on youtube
Swears❤
I don't think he realises just how good his content is. It's one of the few channels I subscribe to that makes me excited for a new upload. A real working class hero 💪
Loving the series so far! Can't wait to see the finished result
Upgrade the infotainment system! I would have gone for a black headliner too! Love the progress!
i think thats a bigger job thank u think and really expensive. those lights he got there around 3 grand just for them
@@dionwilkinson3028 na i got a whole SVR set with facelift headlights and tail lights for 3k total AUD on my 2017 range rover sport.
@@mattymeds2 fair enough dude. my mum has got loads of problems with her sport at the moment 2015 one gonna cost near enough 10k fix it
@@dionwilkinson3028 yeah it’s a shit car tbh, previous owner of mine has had a engine replacement due to a faulty DPF filter.
@@mattymeds2 oh wow. well we have had mine since new and problems are just getting worse and worse. we had a leaking exhaust manifold i think and put it into limp mode and now something else has started to leak its the exhaust as well i think sounds cool but needs to be fixed as its putting it into limp mode again and its making it not idle right either
So glad you’re doing this build, keeping my eyes peeled for one of these for an affordable price for a while now with the intention of face lifting! One of my best series this keep it up fella
1:55 glad you mentioned it. Better to upgrade then put standard parts on 💯
I love that the videos are getting longer 😍 but I hate that we get 2 uploads a week 😭 give us more 😂 cracking videos mate been watching since the Audi TT
Definitely agree, I understand it’s a LOT of work but one more video a week will be nice and it will definitely benefit the channel
@@Vexsites 100% but mat does a lot him self the work and editing so it’s a lot of graft but we would all love an extra video
To be honest I often wonder myself how the hell he manages to fix the cars order the parts film edit upload ... And have a life outside UA-cam
@@Bluemart856 facts
@@Bluemart856 oh mate I know he grafts his heart out mate especially him doing it all himself
Mat it’s been almost 3 years of watching your videos and till today, I still get excited, inspired and entertained so much by you.
i am following this series so well it is great!
Looking good Matt, those blinds on the front stay shut on cold start to aid warm up and reduce noise pollution, only open up when additional airflow needed for cooling, those head lights were painfully expensive!!!!
Hey Matt loving the content, just a heads up from one car fanatic to another.. i work for JLR as a technician and the loss of steering control is common on these models. A bolt for the knuckle on the lower control arm of the front suspension comes loose and potentially leave you without control of the steering. Find out from a dealer if your car is affected; im sure its a recall. Ether way its not to bad of a job providing the correct tools and parts, as with anything. Good luck 🤞🏻
Judt made food vid was uploaded at the perfect time! Thanks mat!
Coming along nicely 😁 I'm sure someone has already posted it, but the small battery in the rear is for the start stop system 👌
I’ve noticed when closing the boot, you press the bottom button to close the bottom then the for for the top, if you press the top one first, both close at the same time
you will need to check what the car thinks the steering angle is in the straight ahead position, they have a soft lock stop, which is the resitance your feeling. If its out 360 degrees, work out which way it needs turning and disconnect the steering column turn the steering wheel and reconnect the column.
Love this series good job Matt
I remember working on a Jaguar F-Pace, I had a similar issue with all those cascading faults when turning the steering wheel. I found the wiring loom that follows down the steering column had been chaffed through about 40cm down from the steering wheel. Keep up the good work. Hope this helps!
Love the way that you don't just fix the cars you upgrade them at the same time 👍
Check out deployable side steps, so when you unlock the car or open a door the steps come out from under the car and then hide away when not needed.....enjoying this build!
You the most amazing youtuber and u love cars aswell
I mean I love cars aswell
Finally new episode, i enjoy so much watching them.
Car is looking great. The new body kit really makes it look even more modern. Hopefully you can find the hood. Looking forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work.
Addicted to your rebuilds. Balls of steel tackling jobs most would run a mile from….you deserve all the success that comes your way.
Back in 1080p, 😋😃
Looking awesome mate, great work as usual.
Love from South Africa🤝🤝
Your progress in rebuilding the car has given me hope of owning one some day here in Kenya 🇰🇪
Painting the leather on the steering wheel airbag turned out so much better than I had expected.
Maybe try looking at the steering angle sensor? see if thats throwing up any fault codes? Hope this helps! Love your content, I've been watching sincce the S5 build. I have a A5 coupe 3.0 v6 and will defintely be rewatching those S5 videos when i go to change my front end!
This is the reason why I keep watching your channel it’s bloody hilarious 🤣 I can’t wait to see what you do next to your lambo
Love your honesty! Best channel for car builds all day long !
Either it's Mrs upset me, cost of living get into me head or idiots upset me at work, I always come into Mat's channel where I relax and cool my mind. It's better than having glass of wine of bottle of lager. Very satisfying
Fascinating watching you glide through the repairs..
Man, this video deserves much more views! Great video, Mat! Keep it up!
Big fan of these videos. I have the luxury of finding this channel late in the day so I have plenty to watch on night feeds with our new baby! Just a tip from me I’m a mechanic by trade, for dashboards or big jobs with lots of different nuts and bolts I done for the first time used to use different colour pens and put a dot on the bolt and onto the near trim or part so I could match them up, especially on dashboards on black trim it highlights bolt holes a lot clearer so you can hopefully get a 10/10!!
Only came across ur channel a few days ago and have to say am loving the rangerover content...keep it up
Brilliant effort mate , you could do with some ratchet crimpers for the electrical connections though
Regards tailgate YOU have crack LHS on the structure because they are from SMC material (fiber/plastic) that as well can cause the drop but even during the time can cause more problems
looking forward to the rest and completion of this iconic british range rover
Seriously Matt … you the best .!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏
From memory on mine you could do a steering angle sensor calibration / plug in and check angle data. Also used to reset the air suspension by turning wheel lock to lock whilst in park.
Love the intro and the song 'coming back home' by WEARETHEGOOD
I remember from your Bentley build that the guys that serviced it asked why you didn't get parts directly from Bentley as they were a fraction of the price, have you tried that for the Range Rover?
And they wouldn't have been a bodge job either and they would have had a full RR guarantee as well.
Hope we don’t have to wait another month for a part because I’m enjoying the range rebuild a lot
best uk car UA-camr
The old x5s used to have the steering fault, turning Lock to lock repeatedly used to reset it
loving this series
Small battery is for the stop start system .
When you had the clock spring out when you took steering wheel off you may have put it back on 180 degrees out giving you the warnings on dash
man i smashed the button when i saw this upload.. i like how you build your cars!!
Again, binging and not a single disappointing episode! Thanks Mat, and FYI, I'm tuned in from South Africa.
try calibrating the steering torque sensor. if that is out your steering wheel will turn more one way than the other
This car is luxurious essential!
Mat Great job mate!
I love it
I’m really enjoying this series. I converted my 2017 to the SVO but didn’t do the full lights and bonnet as it was getting too expensive so fair play to you for doing it. Awesome cars
Or could be a dodgy universal joint on the steering shaft. Just check power steering fluid is at the right level. 👍🔧
Those headlights are AWESOME man
You can adjust the bonnet or hood forward to match your body
When the cars finished can you put a total of how much you spent on repairs?! (All together)
Great update Matt. Hammond gave you a top shout out on the BMW. Top class.
You are very good in your work man.
Good bless u.
The Small battery is for the stop start system BTW
Awesome content; however maybe I've become an old man, but I do prefer the OEM bumber and design...big bumpers make it look a bit cheap 😫
Can’t wait for the next ranger rover vogue video😏
The issue with the steering wheel lock to lock is the steering angle sensor. Drop the bottom panel under the s/wheel and you will see the pinch bolt for the steering column. Drop of the steering angle sensor and replace. If its done over 100k chances are the contacts inside the sensor will be shot. Once done all the lights should go out.
Matt please some proper crimping pliers using side cutters for shrinks is not a good idea, tends to cut through to the metal, and poss short risk, or at least over shrink the connector is best practise
My BMW has a fridge too. Well it will cool a drink anyway LOL. Love ya Matt! ROCK ON!
Good progress MA, brave man putting one of these back together 👌🏽
Are you sure the clock spring was centered when you installed it and not already turned one rotation before you installed it? On my Merc you had to make sure it span 2 turns each way before instal to make sure it was centered (mine was throwing esp lights when I turned)
Clockspring not central was my first thought too.
if the clockspring was broke the buttons wouldnt work
@@MatArmstrongbmx May be working okay, but not centred. Just a thought. 🙂
You can do a weld to the bonnet, vw golfs do it to create eyelids over the lights would take a weld and some body filler then paint.
The small battery you found is the B19 battery that supports the electrical system for stop/start. 👍
Nice progress Matt nice to see you catch a break with the headlights working straightaway for once 😉 shame you had to pay so much for them though, this is gonna look sick once it’s finished 👊🏻
🤦🏻♂️ painting the air bag lol I haven’t once in any episode said NOOOOO lol to each his own I guess…
Love your content man
Maybe clock spring in your steering wheel . I had same issue when i rebuilt my 2015 lexus. I broke the clock spring when installing airbag
I had the same faults codes on the dash and it turned out to be the speed sensor, a decent decoder can pick it up but won't tell you what wheel it's on. Took me two goes to get the right one! Class rebuild dude keep it coming !!
Mat knocking it out of the bag fair play mate
RRover Power 💪🏻 keep it going , can’t wait the final result 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
12:00 bmw's have those in colder markets. They're to allow for less cooling during the winter, they block the radiator off when it's cold so the engine reaches temperature faster.
My e60's were broken (go figure) so I removed them.
Nice one Matt like your style no fear in face lift job coming on strong big lemon but still tidy big bus
You know you need to change the bonnet - I think you need to change the wings as well. If you look at the 2018 RR front end the lower edge of the bonnet doesn't drop at the front - it's constant all the way around.
The car turned out so well! Though it should be illegal to spray paint on the airbag leather
As a Land Rover Freelander 2 Owner I was glad to see you doing a "Rover" Car although All the Sporty Hatchbacks etc are nice 4x4 are My Favourite cars.
You’re videos are class Matt, really enjoyable watch.
I absolutely LOVE this Range Rover series
Those lights look brilliant and the bumper is great , another great video 👍🏼
For side steps, try direct 4x4, they do both fixed and electronically deployable side steps for that car and there only based in Derby so not to far away from you
I think you should get the upgraded infotainment screen to match the new climate control screens
Massive progress from the first video.. keep up the good work. Inspired.
Circle wire thing is called a “ring crimping lug” so we just call them “lugs”.Love watching these Matt very inspirational.
i cant get over the aount of work to get to things in the car
nice progress i wish i had that much knowledge about repairing/upgrading cars!
Your steering is EPAS (electrical power assist steering) the resistance is the steering thinking that you are at the end of travel the SASM is out (steering angle sensor) with software you would be able to dial it in easily but you can also work it out by the amount you have to turn to feel resistance and turn the rotary coupler back to the original position, with the steering wheel off obviously, there’s two grey rubber pins that move the coupler. Hope this helps.
I’m saying this as a guess, most likely happened during dash removal. Entirely possible it could be a genuine fault but I know this is an issue people have had when doing dash out rework.
Oh look I was right.
The range rover is fighting back, love all the mods so far!! Are you going to wrap it ? Or paint it?
From you we all know that will be an awsome car !!
You should spray the headliner black. My dads got a vogue aswell and it look wayyy nicer with the black imo
go mate u killing it
steering column yaw sensor most likely, due to all esp abs etc
Watching here from South Africa big Fan I had to binge watch the R8 build cause the uploads were coming in thin of late been watching since Golf R build
Deffinetley your best video doing the Range! Keep up the good work Matt lad
Could get a naughty little run around for the price of the headlights 😭😂
you can actually get a Range Rover Vogue for that price!
easily my fav UA-camr
Hi mat !
I found your channel 9 months ago ,now i see your every video lov your vids . The first video I saw was you wrapping your Mercedes a45 amg .
You are the inspiration to buy a crashed car I bought a bmw 3 series 2012-2015 fully repaired it . It took me 7 months to repair that car .now looking for a new CRASHED car to restore 🤗👍
Wow what an incredible journey this is and the car is insane keep going Mat you got this bro
