I thought for sure you'd put little locks on the ramp doors, maybe next time. Every video is a new adventure, watching you work through every project gets my brain working trying to figure out what you will do. Stay safe!
Drill a hole in the angle over need the welded ends so that water can drain out. If you do it need the end you will not loose any strength. That said they are so beefy they can probably take a hole drilled in the middle. This way you do not have to flip them.
I love your precision drawings I mean what detail That's better than any blueprint And paper used cardboard It is totally awesome You make a good farmer But then a lot of farmer's drawings Using a screwdriver to make your marks in the dirt I actually have big thumbs up to what you just did lol One thing else you may want to add a plate to the front to stiffen you the front so you don't pull in the front end
Should have flipped the ramps and put the hook on the other end so you could make the angle cut for the transition more gradual. It would have left you enough space on the hook end to clear the rail.
Yeah it was big stuff -- 3x3 and 1/4" thick. Thicker than it needed to be but that was what I had on hand. Man those things are heavy! But good and stout, so that's a plus
You are getting more and more subscribers! If we all chip in $5 is that enough for that mini skid-steer you want?! Maybe $6. Awesome video - I really enjoy the project work.
I've been very pleasantly surprised by the Evolution. I was really loving my horizontal bandsaw, but now I use the Evo most of the time. Easy, fast, and square cuts. Gotta love it
Hello Spencer I’m commenting on this video because maybe your likely to see it? I’ve only made a couple comments on UA-cam. I am a climber and have been running a service very similar to yours, one man show for the most part. Just finished climbing me and my wife through college, leterally. It’s been really incouraging and helpful seeing how you do things rigging wise. Also I have been a little discouraged lately because I have tryed some contract climbing and have also considered expanding but it’s just not my style. some of the bigger Chanel’s on UA-cam with there crews and all make things look so professional it is somehow somewhat discouraging. Just wanted to tell you I’m glad I stumbled across your channel. One thing to help you stay safe in the trees. I learned the hard way and was lucky to be alright. I’ve watched a couple of your climbing videos where your climbing some leaning trees or dead or real long spar work where you have a great tie in point, or even a tie in on anouther tree. But if you don’t have a weak link in your lanyard in that senario you are really not doing yourself any favors. I was climbing a big rottin spar on an oak with my main climbing line in a great spot elsewhere in the tree but my lanyard was around the spar I’m lucky to not have been ripped in half! In that senario sence I have learned a couple good options. A piece of 550 cord or one of those 5 KN rated dmm exsesery biners to attach your lanyard on one side of your harness to give you a weak link in the system.
Great hearing from you! I try to remember a break-away biner or zip tie on those kinds of climbs, at least lately. Great advice man. Big thanks and keep doing it! I'm just not convinced those big businesses are right for me
I see you using a grinder without both hands on the machine, no guard, no long pants/shirt, and no steel toe boots, and no face shield cmon man, my osha book just caught fire all joking aside, im starting a lawncare business, hopefully I can score a few tree jobs from it as well im looking at the ferris Z3X as the next mower to buy, a little pricey but I think itll be worth it
Lawn care business! Mine ran for almost 10 years and we called it "The Sod Squad." It's a great line of work and you'll be great at it. Yeah, OSHA and I aren't besties :)
@@metaspencer Can you put them in a hidden or awkward location to deter angle grinders? Stolen F250's and 350's and trailers are far two common where I live.
Spencer enjoyed watching and listening to you tonight! Can't believe someone stole your ramps!
Thanks for checking out the project! I'm thinking the next thief will herniate themselves in any attempt to make off with the new ones :)
I thought for sure you'd put little locks on the ramp doors, maybe next time. Every video is a new adventure, watching you work through every project gets my brain working trying to figure out what you will do. Stay safe!
They do need locks! Absolutely… thanks Lisa
Glad I watched , I learned some stuff.
Will be back
Great to hear!
Great job ! It will be very helpfull for the ground crew 👍
Thanks! Yeah, they need all the help they can get :)
from the Netherlands thanks for the video Spancer
Woop! Thanks man
Hey. I was missing this kind of videos. Thanks again for sharing.
Good to hear! Thanks man
Nice work Spencer. That winch ramp combination is great for pulling large items into your trailer. I still like my aluminum ramps though.
Aluminum is the way to go I'm thinking ... just not sure if they could handle a tractor or skid steer. But the weight! Yes, gotta love aluminum

I'm liking that idea! A few holes even wouldn't hurt. I'm gonna do it because flipping those babies over ain't happening. Thanks man
@@metaspencer Happy to help.
Welding in Crocs like a real badass lmao. Love the builds man keep it up
haha ... it's been too dang hot for proper welding gear. A little burn here and there keeps ya awake :)
He did have his Crocs in 4wd for added safety.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, your cad skills are Wicked! Please use gussets for the hooks on the ramps.
Gussets! yeah I know what you mean: more strength would be critical at that point. Thanks for the tip!
I did something similar to that to load lincoln 10000 plus welder in the back of my truck works pretty good load and unload in a few minutes
Cool. That’s a monster welder you’ve got! I’m jealous

I like that plate idea … and some better traction on top. Thanks man
How much does trailer weigh dry and how much can it pull .???what size engine is your sweet truck.its what I'm trying to get ..
Engine is a 6 liter diesel…. Gotta have the power. Trailer hauls about 14k loaded
Nice job. What wall thickness did you use? And what length treads?
Thanks!
These were over built at 1/4” … length depends on trailer height and stowage capacity
Nice job buddy
thanks buddy .. the ramps have been great to have
Nice work
thanks buddy
Hell yea dude. I built my ramps [4x] each 7ft long. E7018 all of it. Lol. Pretty similar to yours. Bsafe dude.
BEEFY RAMPS! Good to know I'm not he only one :)
Very nice !
Yeah it's been nice to have the ramps on board :)

Next time! fortunately they've worked great on some waaaay too heavy equipment
how has the winch been doing for you ?? i want to add one but dont want to bend my box. figured i would have to beef it up
I crushed my winch last week with a giant ash log that rolled into it ... before that it was great! If I replace it I'll build a box around it
I have a pair of safety crocs too. I hate thieves
Maybe missed it in the video, but what size angle iron did you use? Was it 3x3x3/16?
Yeah it was big stuff -- 3x3 and 1/4" thick. Thicker than it needed to be but that was what I had on hand. Man those things are heavy! But good and stout, so that's a plus

Thanks buddy! It's been hard to even FIND a mini skid around here lately ... I'm hoping things become more available soon
those are some heavy duty ramps! They could probably take the weight of a skid-loader
Ya read my mind. Skid ready! :) If I can just find a good used one I'm on it
Good 👨🔧
Thanks!
How’s the new evolution saw doing? I got the cheap one and like it.

DORGS!!!
They've been so hot lately! poor pooches!

CAD a.k.a. Cardboard Aided Design. (Oh, while tedious too, you might plasma some holes in the areas that would retain water? Prolly overkill.
I like the idea for the holes! I've gotta do it because I'm not gonna be flipping those babies over every time they come out. Good idea.
@@metaspencer No sweat, watching u carry them I definitely wouldn't be up for flipping them.
Real men wear the shop crocs!
absolutely :) gets air to the welding burns
@@metaspencer exactly!
Can you lock the storage bays?
Oh yeah, you know it. Padlocks on the doors should help deter thieves.
They look solid enough that you could drive a tractor up them.
That's the idea ... tractor for now ... possibly a skid steer at some point (a man can dream)
@@metaspencer the chipper keeps going to the back of the wish list.

locks! big ones! And if the thief gets past the locks there is always the threat of a hernia from carrying the damn things :)
@@metaspencer Can you put them in a hidden or awkward location to deter angle grinders? Stolen F250's and 350's and trailers are far two common where I live.
@@BTimmer The cool thing is that I can lock them both on the front doors AND underneath in a more stealth way, so I'm hopeful

hahaha ... oh if you saw where I took my junk you wouldn't think it was fancy :)

That'll have to be for the next set! Would be nice but don't know if they'd be strong enough for my tractor
