Looks to be around 5500rpm for 70mph in top gear, so you’ve got to rev that thing high if you want speed! But still a lovely bike, I remember it coming out in 1974 I think (yes, I’m that old).

Between 1974 and 1978, the Benelli factory produced 3200 of their 750 Sei. The 900 Sei is much rarer, it was produced from 1979 until 1989, only 1878 of those left the factory in Pesaro.
There were two series of the 750 Sei, the first series had three sets of contact breaker points, the second series had electronic ignition.
There were four series of the 900 Sei, the series one had no fairing, series two had a Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans bikini fairing. Series three and four had larger fairings from later Moto Guzzi Le Mans models. Series four had a black motor and black chrome exhaust.
    I owned a 1980 900 Sei Mk 2 for 38 years.

Hello sir. Very nice video. I was always intrigued by this motorcycle.. Is it relatively sporty or does it ride like a cruiser?

I really want to own one of these, but I'm not sure if parts are still available. Is it that bad?

I won't let that stop you. We live in an age of the internet and Ebay. I maintain a fleet of 70s motorcycles and I don't normally run into any issues finding anything. I think you would probably buy a spare engine for around $500 and have it sitting around incase you ever have a problem lol!

@@motocrosser411 That's a good point, my main worry is that I haven't owned a vintage motorcycle before. Honda CBX's are more common, but they're heavier and I prefer the Benelli's overall execution of the straight six motorcycle.

I'm going to be honest with you, I thought you commented on my Ducati 620 video, sorry. The Benelli parts were tricky at first. I finally found a guy in the USA that is hoarding all the parts. If you get one I can give you the contact info, he seems to have just about everything!
The CBX seems to have a bit better performance, but the Sei is just beyond cool!

@@motocrosser411 Thanks for the offer, I just need to find a Sei for sale in the U.S. The only one I've found for sale at all is located in Spain and doesn't ship to America, so it seems I'll be looking for a bit longer.
Agreed on the CBX. It's a pretty neat bike for the looks and specifications, but the Benelli hits the sweet spot for me between conventional and unconventional styling. It's like it's from another world where six cylinder motorcycles were as common as four cylinders were in the 70s.

      @@motocrosser411 Two more questions
      1. Where should I be looking for a Sei for sale? Craigslist has nothing, Facebook Marketplace obviously has nothing, and Cycletrader seems empty too. I'm not sure if I could just import a motorcycle either, or how that'd even work.
      2. Is there any forum or group dedicated to this model? It's hard to find any information on the bike, as unique as the model is.

I only have so much faith in old Italian equipment to be honest. Not an engine that I want to rebuild. I can appreciate it without abusing it. If I want to hear what an inline six sounds at high rpm I will ride one of our CBXs, can't beat Honda reliability.
