The following information can be used to start your Nissan Rogue with a dead or broken remote key fob - showing the message Key ID Incorrect :
If the dash on your Nissan rouge is showing the error message "Key ID Incorrect or "No Key Detected" the key fob may have a dead or depleted battery. In this situation, a back up method can be used to operate the ignition switch. Put the nose side of the key fob against the Nissan Rogue START/STOP ignition button and push to operate the ignition switch. The key fob may not be able to be detected by the Nissan Rogue push button start system if it is located next to a mobile phone, laptop or other electronic device; these devices may prevent the key fob’s wireless signal from being detected and prevent the push button start system from starting your Nissan Rogue.

You don't have to physically touch the start button with the keyless fob in order to get the vehicle to start, all you're doing is bringing the signal closer because the battery is weaker. You can hold it a quarter inch away from the button and it will still start. Good video 👍
It helps us he took the battery out though. Unless he did a switch underneath the camera.
I'm not sure why Nissan rogues come with a key if you can't physically start the car with the key

This was so helpful! I've been keeping a friend's 2017 Nissan Rogue for over a year, never once starting it. After recharging both the battery of the car and the key fob, I got a "Key ID Incorrect" code when I tried to start the car. Great video! Do you happen to have any tips (or videos) on reprogramming the key fob? My remote battery was dead, I replaced it… and now it’s not detecting the key. I was able to start it the same way you demonstrated in the video, but no dice on the key fob working outside of the car. Thanks!
There is no manual way to program these fobs but if the starting method shown in this video works with a key fob - then that means the key fob is still programmed to the vehicle. I would try a different battery and make sure its installed properly
it would be nice if they told us this when we bought the car. it frustrating when you really need to go but the battery is not working. we went camping and were stuck in the woods for a while. luckily a passer by had a battery in a toy flash light that fit. this info would be very helpful. thank you .

Once the battery is properly replaced the whole remote should function as normal. If it does not, you may have deeper issues with the remote or the vehicle itself

Sons 2018 rogue has dash light in book states has to do with security and keyfob. He has changed battery and still sometimes car does not want to start. He said he did what you did and still has issues with both fobs. Thoughts. Please ty.

Thanks for posting this. After doing this, did your fob then start to work as normal? I'm having this issue, and whilst the battery has been replaced a couple of times, it's still dead (although I can stop/start as per your video).
no - usually the fob battery will need to be changed but if the issue continues even after replacing the battery then the key fob itself may eventually need to be replaced
So the vehicle starts but your fob is still broken - sort of a major point to leave out, my guy!

If I turn off the engine and seat inside the car, the car security warning light blinks. If I stay longer, the warning light will definitely appear and the battery was bad. Is there any way I can do?

I get this message while driving, ive replaced the battery 3 times and I keep getting it while driving… I fix it by simply holding my fob up to my push start button but I am afraid one day my car will just shut off while driving… any suggestions? I have two key fobs and both do this to me only while driving
not sure - You may want to have a dealership or mechanic take a look at your Rogue as it sounds like an issue with the vehicle itself rather than the fob.
If you ran the key down with the battery too far you can wipe out the programming in the key so unless you have a scan tool you'll have to take it to the dealer for reprogramming on the key fob, that's why you keep losing signal. Hope this helps.

the most common cause is a dead key fob battery but can also indicate a bad key fob itself. There is a chip in the key fob that the vehicle can read if the key fob is held close enough - even if the key fob has no power.

According to your method, my 2018 Rogue can be started, but the remote control is useless, what should I do? I changed the battery 2032
are you sure the new battery is installed correctly? (not upside down). You may just need to replace the remote fob if the issue persists.
How about if the immobilization system is on , mine doesn’t start😢
Got the new battery in the fob but now it's not locking or unlocking. Little red light flashes but that's it.

I changed the key fob battery The fob didn't work. Then I saw another video that said do not put it in the fob right side up. Put in the writing side facing down into the fob. I did that and it worked. Someone said upside down is that what they meant?

So this form of starting the car would clear the key id incorrect message?
It will "clear" the message for you to start the vehicle - but If you turn the vehicle off and attempt to start it normally, without fix the fob, you will get the message again.
If I am not getting a key ID message before starting does that mean the battery is dead?
