My favorite trick is to find the LED tea candles at Dollar Tree, you get 2 for $1 (used to get 3) These have a 2032 battery in them, so 2 for a $1. Your old battery will still light the candle in most cases. thanks for the dead battery start tip.
Also, if your fob is totally dead you can push the start button with the logo end of your fob and your car will start. I just looked this up two nights ago when my grandson asked me about it and I'm really glad that I did because today I couldn't get it to start so I pulled the fob out and push the start button with the logo and and voila it started just as they said it would. And the person in the video I watched prior also took their battery completely out of their fob to demonstrate that it works.
Thank you so much. Mine was out for months and I had no idea how to replace the battery. A friend told me to check UA-cam, and I came across your video. I was able to do it all by myself. Thanks again for your help😊
Always be careful of random people videos. 9 times out of ten it's not the battery that's the problem. If you look at the surface of your battery you will see black dots were the contact points touch, this is a build up of dirt and dust caused by the magnetic field generated when the battery is in use. Just rotate the battery a 1/4 turn (Either way) and the fob will work like new. Works 90% of the time! Hugh
THIS! I've change the battery numerous times without any issue but recently, but recently my fresh CR2032 wouldn't operate any of the fob buttons. I was going to replace the battery again until I saw this comment. A quick rotation of the battery solved the problem. Thanks @hughwilliams4561!
THANK YOU! This is now the second time I've used your video to change a Nissan Rogue key battery FOB for my father in the past couple of years. He has 2 and both should now last for a few years longer now that they both have had fresh new batteries installed. I appreciate all the help!
I just now changed the battery in the fob of my 2023 Rogue. I fount that there are two layers that snap apart in order to get in. It was the side with the logo that snaps open in orde to reviel the battery. Thanks to your video that showed me how to replace the battery.
Thanks for your clear and concise explanation and demonstration. Key to success is having the right tool to open the fob...like any other project: tool is king!
Wow, the timing of your video was perfect for me, my rouge 2017 ( just purchased a few months ago) told me I had a low battery in my key, never owed a car with a fob before, your video has helped me tremendously!! Thanks for posting!!
@@binsabose5576 hey there, it was the #2032 size. Changed both fobs ~ now in good shape for another couple years. Bought the energizer lithium 2032 4 pack.
Hi there, I also have a 2017 rogue. I didn't get a warning but it I kept having trouble of it recognizing the keys so I replaced the battery but now it won't lock or unlock the vehicle. Is there some kind of reprogramming you supposed to do after?
Exxon video you're the only one that showed us how to open up the fob without the little inserts on each side We love all of your videos because you get right to the point Thank you very much You solved a lot of problems great videos all of them
Thank you so much! I've been driving for nearly a year with the change battery notice going off 😅 I bought the battery a LOOONG time ago and just had it ready just in case. It's about to get cold so I just finally took the time to make the change. Thank you for being clear and taking the time to explain.
My 2015 Rogue fob had a 2032 in it but the owners manual says to use a 2025. I’ve used both and had zero issues. They both performed and lasted just as long
thanks for the info on how to do. I had to call out AAA when my vehicle would not start, thought it was car battery, instead it was the FOB. Should have known I could go to UA-cam for help. Thanks again.
I wanted to add that it may take a few minutes for the fob to reactivate after putting in a new battery. I replaced my battery and my fob didn’t work. I check the battery with a multi-meter and played with the contacts - all good. I got tired of playing with it so got out my spare, and promptly mixed the two up. Went out to find out which one worked, and they both did. So if it doesn’t work at first, let it sit for a bit and then try again.
Thanks, Matt. This was awesome. I was so lost and dealer only wants lots of money for their defect. I was afraid to buy a new one and had to pay to program the new fob. Certainly my last Nissan for sure. Thanks again
Some need you to mention, what side the battery goes in first !!! The battery has a + sign, the flat shiny side which goes in first, leaving the side with a gritty look, facing the contacts of the battery … Or the side that looks encased, facing the contacts or guts of the battery
Fatter side sits in the bottom split of the case. There’s also a plus sign engraved in the case too. Worse case, if the battery goes in backwards the clicker won’t work, so you’ll know quickly!
I really need help on a 2007 Ford Focus. I have a radiator that I have to keep replacing two radiator caps cause it keeps breaking, I’ve looked everywhere. I need a video of how that area looks to compare to mines to see what I need to fix it. It’s a rubber cap that keeps cracking and the coolant sprays out.

I changed my battery properly and for some reason now none of the buttons and such are doing anything so i guess the battery swap messed something up? What do i do? I didnt touch anything so i dont understand
If your fob has a 2016 battery, replace with a 2016. If it has a 2032, replace with a 2032. The "20" refers to the width across, so yes, both batteries are the same diameter. The "16" refers to the depth. If you choose a different battery size you potentially will not have the correct depth to make a contact OR be too wide to close effectively. Changing the size makes no sense. They are both 3 volt and retails for the same cost.
@@MattStephensRich I'm glad it worked for you! Actually, the 2032 & 2016 have the EXACT same voltage and amperage. The "32" & "16" simply refers to the height of this battery.
Click the link near the bottom of the screen for how to acutally fix a key fob that still wont work after having the batteries replaced!!! It's easy and free!
I just figured this out. It's the battery. Everybody buys a 2032R battery. I looked at the dead battery I took out and it clearly is printed 2032H... sent on Amazon, problem solved..
If you are attempting to change your key fob battery while in your car, stop, and wait until you get home...unless you have a swiss army knife/screwdriver on you. The lazy, asinine design of this key fob makes it nearly impossible to open without a swiss army knife /screwdriver.

Mine's been telling me i need a new battery for 9 months - i have an extra key fob, so not really a huge priority right now. I decided to find a tutorial-type video now, BEFORE it becomes a crisis, where i'm running around trying to get somewhere with a dead fob 🤷♀️ The narration was fine and helpful, and i never find it necessary to take out my failure to plan on someone who's trying to teach me something. Dollar Tree has recently changed their Tea Candles to take 2, LR44 (1.5V) batteries. Make sure they say "CR2032" before buying.
