Thanks for all your help I build a bad ass bench inspired by you!
Rock On great job!
Finally a video that shows me how to build a workbench in my basement, into concrete walls.
Good luck! Post any questions here!
Just ordered the timber list to build one for my own garage, I’ve been looking for something that I can replicate in the corner and this is ideal. Well put-together video, no offensive music, great vibe of banter. Thank you!
Nice vibe. Unobtrusive music, low key presentation. The focus clearly on the work at hand and the work at hand explained clearly. 5 Stars. Excellent.
makes me want to take everything out of my garage and build something like this and then extend it a little more for storage for totes.
Thanks Zach! Good luck if you do!
Fantastic video, not sure what was more entertaining, the little rhymes or the actual build. Glad I found this video
I built this workshop in my garage as well. Absolutely love how it turned out! Top corner shelf holds my curved 65” Samsung tv! My only complaint is Big Logan, you need to make MORE VIDEOS!! I love the presentation and personality! I don’t dig vans though! You will do so well in the UA-cam world, just need more content! I want more!!! Haha
Nice build, glad you made this video. I was just getting ready to make a work bench off the last one you made but I like this one with cabinet doors more. Keep making more videos of DIY builds for garages and man caves!
Thanks Andrew!
@@biglogan3690 I was watching your workbench videos on UA-cam. I’m planning on doing one in my shop, but needed to ask an important question:
My shop is a metal building with 14g square aluminum tubing. What type of fastener should I use? Since I don’t have 2x4 studs. I appreciate any tips you might have
Good stuff. Love that you are calling out the drill dims
Anyone else wanna work and have some brewskis with these guys? 🤣🍺🍻
I'm building this once I get my shop floor refinished. So nice!
You make pretty good videos. And thats whats I appreciates bout you!.. I think I know what my weekend project is going to be. pitter patter!
I finally did mine a couple months back. Best thing I could’ve done. Now just to run some extra outlets
Yessss good job!
Love the break down along the way. Giving us ideas and clarification on steps.🥃🤘🏴☠️
Cheers! Rock on!
this was my favorite video... i love that corner over hanging thing... i subbed..
Working on redoing my girls garage before I move in, since it’s been declared my space in the house. Looks like I found the bench im going to build. Keep it up man 🤘 🍻
Man i would love to be in that room. Logan seems like a genuine guy.
Love these DIY projects! Keep up the good work, BL.
Thanks Matt!
Like the doors on the front good work boys, cheers from the north.
Thanks Eric! Cheers!
I did one in my garage thanks to you BL. Keep up the great videos. Love the blc
This is a great video. The way you explain things to the newbie fosters a level of confidence in them. Good instruction on your part, keep it up.
Thanks Dan!
I must have watched this video 20x’s. I love the work bench almost as much as everyone’s energy. Good laughs and nice work 👍🏻✌🏻
I literally subscribed once I heard MW “I could use a little rain, beaten down my windows pane!” LETS GO can’t wait to use this plan in my garage.
Very nice! I made one in my garage from ur 2 part video. Turned out great!
Cant attach a pic, dummer.
@@danielscott9137 Yea UA-cam wont let us post pics in comments I wish they did! Thanks Daniel! Happy New Year
Tempted to buy a light strip for the floating shelf and wire it into the garage light switch. 🧐
Love it. If you're ever in Idaho, let me know. I have a garage project that might scare you. I also plan on building a custom L-shaped computer desk and fly-tying station.
Right on!
Great project guys!!
Thanks from London England 👍💪😎🏴🙏
That looks freaking amazing. id build it for my baking area.
First time I’ve ran across your channel big Logan. Looking to get my own workbench made up in my garage soon, sweet video 👍🏼
Another bangin bench, I have built mine now as per your design and its awesome (as you Americans like to say) :-)
Trollmansrs!!! A loyal subscriber deserves to be pinned atop the list of comments! Rock on!
Hey Logan I saw you on FnA Channel. I'm now a subscriber! Happy New Year!
Thanks MizzC!
Noiiiice! Straight to the point and good humor. The drawings you incorporate help to understand the process a ton. Keep up the good work. I’ll be using this same concept for my shop when I build my house in the spring. Subscribed!
Thanks Kevin Rock on!
I see one problem, you covered the first top couple of inches of the breaker panel. According to electrical code your not supposed to do that. There is to be no obstructions within 2 to 3ft of the breakers. If you ever have the fire marshall or a building inspector see that they will write you up and tell you take the whole work bench down because it's to close the breaker panel. That happened to a friend of mine, and he was written up for it and had 10 days to comply if not the garage would be red taged and he would be fined.
Now you got me wanting to redo my garage! Great work!
Thanks Mr Bill of all Trades!
I’ve done your build in my garage and love it! Can you ask your buddy what speaker that is? Looks good in that spot I’d like to add one. Thanks my man!
Thanks Don, it was a really cheap sound bar (Bluetooth) let me check....
Injoyed the show, London here
Great channel. Wish i had friends like this.
Starting to plan out my setup & looking for ideas. Glad I came across your stuff
Big fan of this bench
This is awesome, thanks! Now question, this is done with a concrete brick wall. What about a concrete foundation wall? Same method for the wall anchors or would different anchors be used?
Looks good. Shouldn't you add a moisture barrier between the wood and the concrete?
looking good.
Looking good 🔥
Thanks Quinten!
Great advice thanks very much for your videos. I managed to transform my garage here in the UK from a dumping ground to a really useful space. Thanks bud
Lol i have that
It's the work ethic for me.
Thanks!
This is awesome. Thank you 💕
Dang boy ! You bigger than a Yeti ! That's one sweet bench.
Cool video bro, first time watching. I liked when you dudes tried the tapcons & didn't hold so y'all were screw it we got 1/4 anchors, ha. Thanks for sharing your plan layout
Well done. Thank you.
came for the content. stayed for the letterkenny references
Pitter Patter
Nice work "Dream Team!" My question is how do you determine the length of the 45° corner piece?
I think you can make it however long you want, the longer it is the further out your corner would be.
Built mine off your first garage build. Wish I could add a pic to show you!
I know its not part of your build but what heater was that?
I just did a quick pricing for the material list for up here on the east coast... nearly $800 without the optional bits, $610 without the door fronts and trim. Lumber prices are so insane right now. 10.75 per 2x4x8 makes me want to cry.
Yo Big Daddy Logan-- I love this video. As a new homeowner I am getting ready to add a semi-permanent workbench to the garage. Your design in this build in my inspiration. I am not going to use the wall anchors because the walls are a. wood frame b. not level or flush and c. going to get ripped out in the not to distant future as part of complete reno. I was wondering if you could provide some more info about those masonry nails you used to secure the workbench to the floor. My plan is to add a set of of legs to the back of the workbench to make a 4-sided frame vs. the T style in this video. I checked around online and we not able to find those particular nails. Let me know bro!! Thanks and keep the great content coming!
Matt my bruddah!! Check out Grip-Tite Masonry nails. Keep in mind if you employ a “4-legged” system you may not need to rely on anchoring to the concrete. This is pretty exclusive to the Big Logan T Structure design. Good luck man!
@@biglogan3690 Thanks Blood... I think I'll need to anchor to SOMETHING because of the wall is not suitable. I appreciate the quick response.
Sweet work bench, sleeve anchors work better in block than wedge. Nice job though.
May try those next for sure. Easier
To judge depth of penetration for
Sure...
Is there really any need for the floor and wall anchors? Seems like that would be plenty heavy enough to not be moving on you
It needs anchored since it is a built in structure shaped like a “T” it would fall down or tip if not. Thanks!
Hmmm I would have used pressure treated wood for the runner that got fastened to the concrete. Good job man keep building
Love the build. Are those wedge anchors a pain to get out if I ever wanted to remove the workbench?
Assuming these are permanent installations. I’ll have to research!
Pretty much have to use a grinder to get them out, or at least flush with the wall.
Beautiful, exactly what I need. Are there any drawings/ cutlists or is this more of a seat of your pants type of thing?
How do you get the electrical panel cover off ? I see the door will open but if you need to do any work in the panel do you have to disassemble the cabinet for access ?
Nice job! But how did you get the plywood shelf inside the workbench after it was all finished?
Bend it, cut it in pieces, or drop it in before building / placing the top structure. Good luck!
What was the inside rail and rail on the brick wall for without a shelve on the inside of the cabinet doors?
Love the garage work bench videos. I'm working on getting lumber to make mine now.
Also I see you refer to tapcons in most of your videos but you guys are always using hammer in anchors. Is that because the tapcons keep pulling out? I want to make sure I get something that's going to hold. Thanks you for the info!
Hey Big Logan, I would like to see your recommendations for shop stools. Your benches are great. Thanks
Check out my part 2 of original workbench video. Link in the description
love the channel, just found you tonight. Only negative critique I have is to slow down with the camera moves. Not sure if its a stabilization in the camera, or just moving too fast when panning around, but found some parts tough to watch. This is a very small complaint, just a note that could improve the video quality. Otherwise loved the video. Great build, and some good ideas ! Subscribed to see what else you guys got goin on
Thanks Jamie, really appreciate your feedback!
Love these workbenches and want to do my own, however with my luck i have a pitched garage where the workbench would go. Trying to figure out how to built the front floor frame on a pitch. Ever done that before?
hey im Reases freind and he told me about your chanel and love your vids
Love the work, what program did you use for the design?
Check out part 2!
very nice. i like the idea of the light bar. do the leds shine down only?
Yes they are one-sided
@@biglogan3690 i mean how bad is the glare when viewed from the side
@@zfoxfire they are not bad at all, quite mild from side angle
Another question: what's your opinion on constructing this same style workbench with a freestanding design? In other words, making back legs and such instead of securing to the wall.
I love that idea and have often thought about that for folks who rent and can’t get so involved with the install. I’d still throw a few fasteners in the back wall for rigidity 🤙🏻
Big Logan,
First off, love the builds and def plan on installing a variation of this in my garage. That being said I spoke with someone regarding this and the comparisons to your buddy’s build, and the concrete was worrisome because it can cause “foundation issues”. My garage is split with half concrete/ drywall (concrete being where the tapcons would have to anchored). Do you foresee any issues with this?!
Not at all ! Carry on and good luck!
@BigLogan do you have any videos on adding drawers to the bottom of one of these workbenches?
I do not...
Any suggestions on how to build around a water heater?
Looks great! What about pressure treated for the pieces that touch the floor and wall?
Can do if really humid…
Hey guys great video. Just curious what is the reasoning that you worked from the front to the back and not back to front. I'm not trying to be otherwise I'm just wanting to figure out your reasoning for doing so
If you started on the back wall, you would have to find level and find your measurement to build the front wall. To much room for error and it would never be level. Building and anchoring the front wall first you simply need to find level and mark across for your back board/brace.
question, you did the cabinet trim out from one piece of plywood. when you cut the opening for the door did you carefully cut them out so you can use the cut outs for the actual door? love your design.
That’s correct, then skimmed 1” off height and width so they wouldn’t be too tight. Then overlapped the shaker fronts to cover the gaps!
@@biglogan3690 brilliant!
What program do you do for your designs??
looks like sketchup
Trimble Sketchup Online (free)
Saw your video and really enjoyed the instruction. One question, would there be any reason for not using 2x3 instead of 2x4?
None at all! SEND IT!
Great ideas. But you should have used pressure treated wood or a foam barrier against the wall.
Hi I’m about to build this exact set up except it 14x14. I build decks and out door projects. I’m in Houston . What would you charge for it?
For general carpentry like this, I'd throw a 2 to 2.5 X on materials cost and make that your total. So $350 at supply store would equate to $700 - $875 project plus your travel / estimating time. 14' x 14' should go pretty simply in one day. Good luck!
How far apart did you space the wedge anchors?
Roughly 2-3’
if you are drilling the floor anyway, why use masonry nails instead of tap con screws?
I'm going to do this in my garage. But I was wondering did you check code to make sure it's okay to build over the breaker box?
It's against code to build over the breaker box. I think you have to have 3 feet clearance around it
It is a code violation. The next time the house is sold or any work requiring a permit is done, it will have to be torn out.
I said the same thing
On the 10 foot section, you have 24 inches on your diagram. Is this correct? I'm reading as in each board should be 24 on center.
Correct!
I’m assuming treated lumber for anything that touches the concrete floor?
Lots of folks prefer this, if your area stays dry and doesn’t
Sweat, keep it simple, I’ve had builds stay perfectly fine for over 10+ years w untreated pine. Your call!
why didnt the tap con screws work in the wall?
Your positivity is infectious - That Confederate flag would look good on the man cave wall. Glad to have found your channel, Happy New Year from Ulster.
They were kneeling and walking on it for a reason
@@logancollier1037 👍. Peace.
Throwing a question out there: can this be assembled without drilling into my garage floor? I just moved into a new house, and I don't think I want to drill into the garage floor.
Yep just make sure it’s tight to the floor you can use Fuze-it by liquid nails to bond to concrete (somewhat permanent but removable)
@@biglogan3690 , thanks bro, really appreciate the quick response.
Any idea how much weight the floating shelf will hold?
I’ve sat on it before and I’m 315 lbs…. Working in ceiling / garage door opener lol
How wide is the top shelf on the ends?
What did you use for the door fronts?
Plywood leftover from Bench top for shaker fronts, 1/2” plywood for doors
@@biglogan3690 what about in the middle? Not sure what snake doors means?
Great job but you cannot build anything around the breaker box. There are minimum clearances around it
what program do you use for your plans?
Trimble sketch up online (free version)
@@biglogan3690 Thanks! when I downloaded it there were three apps. Which one are you using here? A little tricky to navigate
Hey big logan where is the van?
Is that a hollow block wall?
Yes
@@biglogan3690 So it is actually hollow where you attached the 2x4? The reason I ask is I didn't think wedge anchors were recommended for hollow block.
Can you share the plan?
Hey bud. I’ve watched this video and your last workbench video. They look great but you can’t build a bench in front of the panel like that. The electrician that has to work on that next is going to be pissed. And it’s also a code violation, but other than that. Good vid
All that with no profanity! Nice!👍
want to share these plans?? or can we buy them??
2 words: Power Fasteners. Trade your drill for ear protection.
Big Logan have questions. You have an email I can use?
