Stuff breaks, especially on high mileage, older vehicles. On today's vehicles, sometimes even the dealers can't fix them. They change expensive parts until they find the problem, wasting hundreds, or even thousands of dollars. Be thankful they don't spread salt on the roads around there. Throw in some corroded wires, and you need a team of electrical engineers to determine what is wrong.
question about GEN2 Prius: watched your excellent video. Can weak Prius auxilary battery (say 11.5V) be put on a trickle charger connected to a power outlet to perform lenghty computer procedures/diagnistics? I need to know this for bleeding the brakes; my auxilary battery is weak. Thank you
I agree with Alan Eaten about the battery. I had an 08 Rav with dead alternator. Christmas tree lights and brake system weak. Electric power steering so that was crazy too for customer who needed to try to limp it to shop. They knew better than to risk a tow. That little trunk 12V batt is KAPUT.
Based on my experience, I have noticed that even if you delete the errors, the brake light and ABS warning lights can come back on again. To resolve this issue, I suggest putting the vehicle in service mode, changing the brake fluid, and bleeding it thoroughly. Additionally, using a paper clip on the OBD can help ensure that your car runs without any problems.
Good afternoon sir, I have a blink problem for the ABS indicator, brake warning and VSC stop before 120 seconds, is it normal? Or do you have to blink up to 120 seconds? And the DTC C1345 is still stored which means that the initialization of the calibration has not been completed, I have followed the rules such as Steer Straight, Shift Lever Parking, Power ON, Battery More Than 12V, Do Not Step on the Pedal and Let It Rest for 1-2 Minutes and the Last One Removed the Parking Brake, Strangely the red parking brake indicator continues to light up in MID even though the parking brake has been released, is it normal sir?in the normal datalist, if it is removed OFF if it is pressed step on the pedal ON (still using the manual parking brake, namely the pedal) Does it turn on continuously because of ABS, VSC, Brake Warning on. Do you have any advice?
New glasses! Hopefully your old ones didn't break? Are those Zenni optical? America's Best makes some with good deals too. The eyeglass manufacturers are making so many durable plastic hybrid lenses lately. Hope you like them!
Hi, can techstream tell me where my brake fluid leak is coming from? It seems to be coming from somewhere around the reservoir on my wife's Lexus 460LS.
Hi, could you please tell me which Autel scanner are you using, I have got an Autel scanner but it does not have that special function where I could do the job ( linear valve offset).
Is there any way to do it with maxicom MK808 I tried but it doesn’t show me that option besides code reading and live data, do I need to update or what
@angioman I never heard back from him on the model number, however I bought the PC plug to the car and found something online that worked for me. Much cheaper route
Hello, I really like your thorough Prius videos. Thank You! Could you advise an issue with braking? It is what I am calling delayed brake release. After you take your foot off the brake they do not release, there is a two second delay before the wheel is freely rolling. 2007 Prius, 240k, already replaced the brake booster, no significant improvement and it is the front brakes.
@@julioanthony1951 I put a new ABS pump in mind from a junkyard it took like 3 hours to follow the bleeding procedure that took a fancy computer to do the bleeding but I knew that a dealership wouldn't touch junkyard parts. But since I fixed that this car has been amazing I'm getting astounding gas mileage and I put over 7,000 mi on it in two months
I had the same problem in my 2006 Prius (331,000 miles), but the brakes would drag for about four seconds, rather than two. No codes came up on BlueDriver or my cheap OBDII readers, but Techstream showed C1247 and C1345 codes (for.brake pedal position sensor). After replacing the sensor and using the Techstream utility for calibrating linear valve offset, everything is back to normal.
I changed an actuator and Brake pump in a 2013 Prius and I cannot eliminate the C1345 code... I tried several times using techstream.... any other suggestions? Thank YOU in Advance!
2013 Prius changed booster and pump with used unit. Bled using Topdon will not complete linear valve calibration. It will cycle and make noises, but Codes remain. Help!
@@williamvaughn2938 , yes. I ended up removing the unit and leaving the junkyard accumulator and reusing my original to the car brake booster assembly. It programmed immediately. All codes cleared and linear offset done. However, I still noticed that the accumulator is constantly running like before. This leads me to believe that the junkyard accumulator unit is either on its way out or the original to the car booster is damaged making the junkyard accumulator continuously run. I stumbled upon an internal Toyota publication stating that the accumulator loses pressure over time and that the booster cracks internally. Thus, any junkyard model not equipped with the new booster and accumulator assembly will essentially mean you are on borrowed time. Mine works currently but buzzes every 30 seconds. I’m again on borrowed time. Thus, I’ve ordered the accumulator and booster from Toyota and will install it sometime soon. It’s the only way to permanently fix the issue. The part numbers have changed from Toyota. This typically means the parts have been updated. I paid $1300 for the new parts. Also, the new accumulator is no longer two black cylinders. The updated for the regular Prius (not C ) is now two silver cylinders. That may help if looking for updated used junkyard units. Good luck!
@@Wizardry77 hey yes ended up replacing the abs module, and a job that was. After that did the calibration and worked. So in most cases the just by learning the linear valve would do it.
Autel is Autel and Techstream is Toyota and solely Techstream only. Any non subscription that calls itself Techstream is a hack and is not legal to be commercially sold. Autel makes software and includes the tablet or handheld interface. That being said, many devices exist in the market that does everything you need. Even keys. You just pay more for what you need to do. Still less than Techstream and no annual subscription.
It's been a bad week. Pete, I know you have more on your mind this week, but to avoid focus problems, try to check the camera monitor if you can. But I understand when you are actively trying to diagnose a problem, fixing the problem is more important than camera focus. We are here with you for the ride regardless. Would be nice to see but to hear the walkthrough is better than nothing.
It is because of the moon cycles. The new moon period just ended. And the full moon is starting to show and we all know the full moon brings out the lunatics. I had one today. The public is awful now.
I recently had new tires and an alignment check. After which the (!) l, ABS, VCS, and BRAKE lights came on and won’t clear. What is the tool you used, or do you have any other suggestions, and maybe an appropriate cost for the tool.

Great video! I have a gen 2 and 3, can you advise what scan tool you recommend for things like this?
This worked! I used a very similar autel scan tool. Chose linear offset in the drop tab and it passed the test!

I have 2011 Auris with same problem but through the learning procedure the ABS light is not flashing to learn it.

in my case blinking stop half the way and calibration is not done, do you think is hardware or air in the system
