- Welcome to "The Vault", a how-to video on our way of installing a waterfall grotto vault!
Join John G and the team as they install the 12 ton concrete vault they used to create the grotto and the 6' waterfall at their oasis.
1) John shows you how they tore out the back of the existing wetland, excavated for the grotto vault installation, and installed an additional liner to encapsulate the grotto vault.
2) You will see the methodology they used to make the liner connection (seam) under the grotto vault.
3) You will see how they prepare the base (foundation) under the grotto vault.
4) You will see them set the grotto vault.
5) You will see how they backfill the grotto vault.
6) You will see the team setting the 5 ton framing boulders in front of the grotto vault!
7) You will see them get smothered by a deluge of pouring rain to end this episode of BUILDING THE OASIS AT Modern Design Aquiascaping Inc. ;)

That made me want to go back and rewatch the reveal video again.

Amazing how your pond has matured in such a short period of time, with the papyrus and all it looks like its been there for years! No doubt there is TONS of pond building GOLD on the "cutting room floor"...these vids ARE full of quality info, but I realize they also need to be pared down to make them YT optimized...but I'm sure there is a lot of experience in those outtakes!
Yea we are making shorts for people who want the 30 second version of the story👍 I think my life would be a whole lot easier if I only made the shorts anyways, it’s hard creating all this contact in my spare time lol I think I spent probably 30 hours editing that one video. I could’ve made a months worth of shorts in the same amount of time and then took a couple weeks off…

Upgrading that 6 foot tall waterfall into the grotto was a six-figure add-on for us in our local market. Not sure what it would take to make that happen in other areas of the country? It required us to totally upsize all the boulders and equipment and the excavation and the backfill and 300+ hours of detail work, etc. etc. short version here hundred thousand probably up to 150 in more expensive areas or on out of town projects 😎

What's your growing (gardening) climate zone there? Does that matter? Have you ever incorporated any aquaculture or permaculture in any of your designs and if so, how did it go?
Amazing cascade, what sort of pumps are you runnning and flow rate?
2@ 1 hp external pumps, pushing a total of 20,000 gallons per hour.
I would love to have this in my home & go have sun fun time with my gf under da waterfall but I would constantly be in fear of a snake possibly hang’n around…
