    It looks like a pair of mole grips with a chain. Yes it is and a very efficient tool for working accurately and quickly. Can be worked in a confined or restricted space where you cannot get a hack saw of angle grinder (or even a gas axe). Available from Paddock Land Rover Spares and Accessories, This tool will cut a very accurate straight cut and is very handy when you are making up exhaust systems for your project(s).

    Very useful tool and the price is actually pretty good too. Having once been a plumber (many, many years ago now) I know the value of these rotary disc cutters, I've used them for nearly 40 years :) In fact, I still have my original one going strong. Absolute godsend of a tool and this variation is also brilliant. Thank you for a nice, simple yet clear instruction of how to use it.

      thanks,..... yes I think the mechanical trade borrowed the idea from plumbers.

      ***** Well, why try to reinvent the wheel. If a good idea works then go with it :)

      +Ben Silva That is an excellent price actually for what you are getting. Of course, you could always try to make one yourself if you wish :) I would say that this is the sort of tool that I would certainly buy myself if I were fabricating exhausts (a lot) or were in the trade. I still rate this as a very good tool referring once again to my time in the plumbing trade.

      +Ben Silva I've just checked the price out. £30UK????? You have to be kidding me when you are balking at that price. forget what I say about only buying it if I were doing loads of pipework at that price it's worth getting for anybody.

      +Ben Silva Nope, the one I looked at does indeed have the vice grip tool as part of it. Please don't tell me what I am looking at! I know I have looked at the correct tool. Maybe you need to be looking on the UK sites as I have done. Possibly because Paddocks are based in the UK...

    My plier ends keep biting the pipe inhibiting the wheels. Plier ends hitting pipe as I turn; under motorhome confined space. Any tips?

    I wonder if the cutting wheels can be sharpened

      perhaps if you have the patience. Wheeled cutters usually last a long time.

      @@trailerfitter2like how many pipes do you roughly estimate that it can cut? 🤔

    Can you use something like that on 2" Steel Pipe for a roll cage or is exhaust pipe a lot softer?

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  10 років тому

      No unfortunately the steel will be too thick for that size of tube. I do have however scaffold tube cutter which are very big. Will post a picture for you later on Google +

      Excellent thanks, I do go through a lot of cutting disks when I'm building my roll cages so a cheaper alternative would be great!

      Are you using a hand held angle grinder or chop saw?

    • @daveh9415
      @daveh9415 10 років тому

      Hand held electric ones bud.

      @trailerfitter2  10 років тому +1

      Ah okay if you are doing a lot of work a grinder / bench chop saw is the best with 9" cutter disc.

      GYPSY BOY should last a while. Not really for stainless, that will blunt them like straight away.
