Rest well to my uncle Melvin 'Mel' London.
He was truly an unsung song writer and producer of this time who worked with Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Junior Wells, etc. at Chess records. My uncle later recorded on his own label, Chief records.
He never received his true just due...but many know one of his most famous work: "Mannish Boy" which has been recorded and re-recorded by multiple greats as well as used in commercials and in movies throughout the years.
Thank you for your contribution to music history 'Unc'🎶🎵🎼🎵🎶🎵🎼

Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Billy Stewart, Little Milton, Etta James & Howling Wolf made Chess Records!

1955 is the most universally instrumental year for modern music imo

If it wasn't for innovators like Muddy Waters and Leonard Chess we'd probably be listening to Disco Polka music on the Radio.

Not that there'd be anything wrong with disco polka music...

A lot of the blus singers were and still is the originals. Elvis Presley didn't create hound dog. Big Mama Thornton created that sound. Give honor to whom honor is due

Elvis did a cover of a Las Vegas club act's rendition of Hound Dog

I would like to cite this for a paper. Could I have the director, and place where this was produced.

did these black artists get their proper royalties or were they robbed like so many others. what about their families today are they still eating off the records put out?

We're these black artists adults, meaning over 18? If anyone screwed them, it's their faults.

The son sounds kind of bothered. His descriptions and overall retelling is very biased. Sounds like his Father wasn’t like that.
