Can you cover how messed up the LAPD is being towards the anti scientology protestors, it's absolutely wild to see the way the LAPD is protecting a literal cult. The LAPD arrested Aaron Smith Levin (growing up in scientology here on YT) for filming someone basically, someone who has been harassing the protestors and letting his dog attack them. The man assaulted Aaron for filming him on a public sidewalk and the cops ended up arresting Aaron for 6 hours on felony stalking, left him handcuffed in a bathroom at the station before finally releasing him with no charges six hours later. Its on UA-cam and TikTok, the more eyes we can get on what the LAPD is doing, the better
Absolutely. Not just because of her gesture as she drove by, but for their history. This cop physically abused this woman at a storage facility, alleging trespassing, etc. He retaliated then because she challenged him. I'm trying to find the video and link of that encounter.
I mean even if he hadn't, the fact he mentioned the gesture to backup, and she admitted to it when he mentioned it, and then he chose to arrest over a traffic violation that frankly is common af says a lot. Texas and my state (GA) have similar laws regarding traffic infractions/violations. I've been caught speeding, that is considered a criminal offense in GA, only got a citation, and I was super speeding. State law may allow an arrest, no reasonable officer is gonna arrest solely over it though (barring like 20+ over with multiple violations that would become reckless driving). Plus he admitted he was treated her differently because she was who she was.
Yup, happened to my brother n I on the streets. He had a past case and was beefin with the corrupt dept. Alotta aryian brotherhood members were in there. The dept was investigated and a couple were put in jail I think. The rest were all fired. Went back through there a few years back n its all different officers.
It’s funny how he tells her she needs to move on, while his cop was on the verge of arresting her of a lane change that she didn’t even do. This is the kinda cop that would flip out if an acorn hit his car next to him.
Ouch... That's gotta sting the ego of any police officers reading this! I may need to steal this to use it myself when I am critical of police officers actions
The crazy thing is maybe every cop in the country knows about that acorn incident by now; but they are still ignorant about filming in public and flipping the bird.
What an immature stance. What about the videos where the non-deserving cops get the middle finger? Cops should not retaliate, but that doesnt mean citizens get a free pass for being @55holes to authority.
Correct@@KrowShow. The 1st amendment does give all citizens the right to convey their grievances to their government officials. You don't like it then go somewhere that doesn't have free speech.
I was a cop for almost 10 years and I've never heard of being able to arrest someone for failing to signal a lane change. That cop is absolutely ridiculous for arresting her. Especially when you can see she signaled in his bodycam footage.
I believe they are interpreting the law incorrectly in this video. Traffic violations are considered “infractions“ in Texas, and therefore are not crimes. All of the laws cited in this video specifically used the word “crime”, when referencing the ability for an officer to make an arrest.
“You’re under arrest for failure to signal a lane change” That’s gotta be the most uncalled for and blatantly retaliatory reason for an arrest I’ve ever heard of.
I agree, however, most people cannot afford to retain legal counsel to pursue justice.. About 2,000 people are being murdered daily in the world today and this cop is wasting time on a personal vendetta because someone flipped him off.. get off your high horse Mr. Officer and focus on real crimes.
Hey Sarge, your officer just proved beyond a reasonable doubt the EXACT reason she flipped him off. You and your officer are the reason people hate cops.

The Constitution does too, as highlighted in the video. Texas doesn't say it's prohibited, but for states that do, it's a state issue. A 4th amendment lawsuit could not be brought against police in any state for an arrest over a traffic ticket.

The Civil Rights Lawyer covered this story a little while ago. Her citation was dismissed, he posted the proof she had obtained. Also he had a copy of the dashboard cam and it clearly showed she DID signal the lane change. 100% retaliation! I want to see a lawsuit ma'am 😊
Right? You can see it briefly on the officer's bodycam near the beginning of this video too.(the dashcam version is much clearer though). This video also clips out the officer's reckless driving while chasing her down too. He did far worse things than "failing to signal" during his pursuit. Swerving into incoming traffic, speeding, illegal right turn from the left lane(while cutting someone off on the right lane too). All for a bogus made-up reason+his feelings getting hurt. This guy should be off the force.
She didn’t signal the lane change going into the left lane. He showed her signal the lane change from the left lane into the right to make it look like the officer was wrong. Not saying it’s something she should go to jail for, but she did commit the violation she was stopped for.

Are you suggesting that it is very adult to go around flipping people off who might have slighted you in the past? If you act like an infantile idiot, you will be treated like one.
No cop should have authority to make a custodial arrest, and jail, for any code violation, infraction, or misdemeanor where the punishment, if convicted in court, does not include any jail time. That is pure retaliatory emotions from that maniac of a tyrant.
I think calling him a maniac is being too nice. This guy is an egotistical narcissist who gets off on torturing others. I wonder how many other victims he has.
Shutting off or muting your body cam should be considered obstruction, destruction of evidence, and should be an immediate firing offense and chargeable crime.
I don't know why there would ever be a good reason an officer should do this. Honestly, the function shouldn't even be available to them while they are in active duty.
They also turn or position the camera in certain ways, as well as let things cover it in order to conceal what is happening. My sister is an officer and she has caught hell from her peers and superiors for telling fellow officers to fix their cameras during police interactions.
So I was wondering if the cop was claiming that she failed to signal BEFORE driving past him where the body cam doesn't show one way or another, but on his ticket, he writes, "She flicked me off THEN failed to change," which is clearly AFTER passing him, and the body cam DOES show she signaled. Easy win. It is objectively false. She definitely needs to fight and sue.
Watch the body cam from the beginning. When the cop is walking to the back of his car, she is moving from the right lane to the left lane and no signal is observed (although it would be hard to see). In the body cam the cop says she failed to signal left when she moved over to the left lane. After she passes the squad cars, she clearly signals when she moves back into the right lane, but by then the infraction for the stop had already been committed. Admittedly, arresting her for failure to signal a lane change is a pretty low thing to do and most likely in retaliation for getting the middle finger.
@keylimepie904 nope. For 1, we don't witness her do the lane change from right to left as she approaches the cops. She's already in the left lane at that point. For 2, in his WRITTEN report, he states word for word that the supposed traffic violation occurred AFTER he saw her flip him off. I don't care what he says off-hand on camera. The only thing that matters is the official report. The fact that he got it wrong in his written, even if (and that's a big if, because there's literally zero evidence) she had failed to signal beforehand shows his mindset: "I'm going to say anything that needs to be said to justify arresting her for hurting my feelings."
And at the absolute most, the penalty for officers breaking the law and ruining a person's life, for speech, is a city payout. Which leaves you wondering, if this is a routine thing in America, do you even have rights? Seems to me they can circumvent every "right" you have, as often as they like, without penalty. Seems like the courts surreptitiously revoked the constitution LONG ago.
That’s what happens when there’s no consequences for violating the right to free speech. Officers can do what they want and hide behind their qualified immunity

The fact that he knew her first and last name without any form of ID tells me this was retaliatory.
Absolutely. Not just because of her gesture as she drove by, but for their history. This cop physically abused this woman at a storage facility, alleging trespassing, etc. He retaliated then because she challenged him. I'm trying to find the video and link of that encounter.
No doubt!!
I was thinking the same thing!!

@@_soupnazi Actually, in the law it often does. There are many laws that include that "reasonable person" language.
But reason is also how we differentiate between different emotional points of view, and biases. So yeah reason is extremely valuable.
@@Quinn37 Ok we're not discussing contract law here. Criminal law has a higher standard of proof. Most reasonable people know that Trump intentionally tried to overturn the election with force, yet he is still a free man that has not spent one day in prison for his multiple crimes. that cop straight up told her, "you were treated wrongly. If you are mad about it, we will do it again".
An arrest for failing to signal?! That's ridiculous.
Funny how three cops couldn't figure that out...
Also it was an objective lie, she did signal. But in a society where cops can throw you in a cell over something as insignificant as that, whether you are actually guilty or not seems inconsequential. Hell, traffic court in America is just the process of a judge asking the officer "are they guilty?". Even video evidence is ignored in favor of a cops word.
Their was no "Good Cop" he let the woman go without being arrested. but he let the bogus traffic ticket stand. He also defended the "Bad Cop" and proceed to chew out the woman like she was a child.
The Sargent was just covering his own a22. If the traffic cop went ahead with this bogus arrest and the whole thing blew up in court and led to a civil lawsuit, it would come out that the Sargent was on the scene. He would essentially take the full blame then.
Are you suggesting that it is very adult to go around flipping people off who might have slighted you in the past? If you act like an infantile idiot, you will be treated like one.
😂😂😂 He wasn't there to witness the lane change, so how can he speak against that you 🔔end. 😅😅😅
@@mick9419don’t be naive, they always cover each other even when they know they’re wrong.
I think that's why "Good Cop" is in quotations. It's meant to be sarcastic.
Sgt. Scott saying if Akers had done wrong he would not be there is the result of "we investigated ourselves and determined nothing wrong happened".
I’d love to see the other video.
I do NOT appreciate the Sergeant gaslighting the woman and trying to convince her that officer Aker's bad conduct was HER fault.
No cop should have authority to make a custodial arrest, and jail, for any code violation, infraction, or misdemeanor where the punishment, if convicted in court, does not include any jail time.
That is pure retaliatory emotions from that maniac of a tyrant.
Don’t go to Texas they are the epitome of police state they are the least free of all the states in America.
I think calling him a maniac is being too nice. This guy is an egotistical narcissist who gets off on torturing others. I wonder how many other victims he has.
Shutting off or muting your body cam should be considered obstruction, destruction of evidence, and should be an immediate firing offense and chargeable crime.
It should be yeah at anytime they can abuse their authority
Now that you mention that you're right that is obstruction
Absolutely 👍🏿
I don't know why there would ever be a good reason an officer should do this. Honestly, the function shouldn't even be available to them while they are in active duty.
They also turn or position the camera in certain ways, as well as let things cover it in order to conceal what is happening. My sister is an officer and she has caught hell from her peers and superiors for telling fellow officers to fix their cameras during police interactions.
She needs to file a complaint and pursue legal action.
If failure to signal is a misdemeanor in Texas then just about every cop in Texas is guilty of this crime.
I live in New Braunfels, TX. You are 💯 correct!
He didn't stop the bad cop, he stood up for Akers
Bingo. He didn't correct any of these three clowns for what they were about to do. There was no consequences for any of this.
@@keylimepie904
Damn you cops see a lot of shit that nobody else does.

SO....SCOTUS MADE THIS RULING 35 YEARS AGO AND COPS STILL IGNORE YOUR RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH.
Ego and power of the man baby that takes this job to boost their pathetic self esteem
That’s what happens when there’s no consequences for violating the right to free speech. Officers can do what they want and hide behind their qualified immunity

@@dishonoredundead There's no such thing as "rights". There are only privileges that can be revoked by the men holding the biggest guns on a whim.
The "Good Cop" here wasn't looking out for the interest of the woman. He was making sure his coworker didn't get in trouble for crossing the line.
There was no "good cop" unless the "good cops" remove the bad cops from the roster then they are not good cops they are just good at helping to cover for bad cops!
And then he acts like he didn't know her name!! I think it's. . .you already told dude you know her.

Scott deserves a D. No way he gets a passing grade from me.
a) He not only didn't stop the arrest he is the one who cuffed and stuffed her.
b) He didn't discontinue the arrest because it was wrong. He did it to save his buddy.
c) He turned off his camera to hide evidence.
d) He lectured her at the end saying that exercising her rights will just keep getting her into these situations. Instead he should have lectured his buddy on restraint and professionalism.

Story time:
The lecture from the sergent was so icky it reminded me of when i was in a criminal justice program in high school and a male classmate wrote me a threatening note after i rejected him and cut his wrist over the letter and then slid it into my backpack the next day. He got suspended for 3 days and then they kept him in the criminal justice program but moved him to PM classes. Then in the second year of that program (which you have to be accepted into - and he was) my instructor, who was an ex cop that i really looked up to, asked me if it would be ok for male classmate to come back into AM session and since most of the time we're at our internship youd only see him a couple days a week. When i said no, he told me, "well you have to get over it at some point"
The first cop pulled her over and requested the sergeant because he THOUGHT he was gonna get away with a BS arrest. Once the sergeant saw this crap happening, he didn't want to be party to a possible lawsuit so he told the first cop to let her go. They are both bad cops. One was just smarter than the other.
How was the sergeant bad for pointing out that the first officer was being inconsistent? He literally walked him through why he couldn’t just arrest her, that he just needed to give her a ticket. That’s what his job is. He wasn’t “bad.”
@@ravenzyblack no he only did it to avoid the later legal issues. He literally says “if he did anything wrong he wouldn’t still be here” despite the obvious wealth of officers who get let off after a measly “internal investigation” around the country
The supervisor lecturing the lady for using her rights is annoying. She had zero reason to be pulled over. Zero.
He's just as bad as the other guy. He's probably been involved in lawsuits or something
I think he lectured her to move on, and not cause a hazard on the road while exercising her first amendment rights.
I think the guy at least deserves a B
@@nodekapunk though he told her to move on he also told her to stop exercising her 1a right and blamed the officers behavior on her freedom to do so. Goodness you people will ignore your own eyes and ears to push your nonsense won't you?
@@nodekapunk Except she wasn't a hazard. He didn't know that at the time, but if you watch the video:
1. There wasn't a left lane switch
2. She did signal, although briefly, when pulling into the right lane--but he was already chasing her by then
3. She did signal the right turn and her turn signal was still on during the altercation.
He’s worse than annoying. He’s as bad as the others. He’s just experienced enough to avoid trouble. He actually blamed her for the whole ordeal and defended a crooked cop.
There really needs to be a law against shutting off or muting a bodycam when a detention or arrest is involved. By doing so, it should be grounds to have any and all criminal charges or a criminal court case immediately dismissed, on the grounds of "tampering with evidence" and "conspiracy to frame", because why else would an officer turn off their bodycam other than to plot against, frame, or other unscrupulous action not in the suspect's favor.
...and depending on severity of circumstances, the officer brought up on these criminal charges of tampering with evidence.
There's an evidence rule that if you prevent evidence from getting to court, then the court is to assume the evidence showed whatever is worst for your case. Else why would you try to prevent it?
E.g. Here if they mute while they discuss the case. Then the court might be forced to conclude that while muted, they cop admitted she didn't fail to signal. Else why would he mute the body cam?
They do it and say stuff like "sensitive information" and whatever else. Knowing damn well it can be edited before they release it.
Yepp... had me a possession charge after 3 times the cop asked me to go in my car I told them no but none that was on the cam evidence tape they sent me. They cut n pasted n made it look all in their favor to show the judge.
