    Awesome, thanks so much. I am 33 years old and just started playing cello 4 months ago, also learning to read music for the first time. Your videos are very helpful, I look forward to more!

      I wish you all the best in your musical journey. The cello can be such a reward, and frustration too. Just yesterday, I was playing my arrangent of Bizet's Carmen and for the first time in years, enjoyed playing it! Hope you too find joy with cello and in life.

    Can you do a video on how to hold your fingers on a note on for e.g. G string when you are playing a note on D string? To be more specific, how to hold your 1st finger on a E note when you need to use your 4th finger to play a C note?? Many thanks!!!

    What happens when there’s no indication that you have to play in different positions? Do I just play in first position?

    • @CelloCoach
      @CelloCoach  4 роки тому +2

      There is never any indication for a different position. Your knowledge base and personal competence will define the position you play in, among other things.

      Good question, one I will answer in the next Q&A. The short answer: most music can be played in places relative to the 1st position. Different positions grants us ease of play. I will expound on this later. Good question!

    When you're looking for cello sheet music, they don't write the fingerings or the brakets indicating position shift. How do you play those pieces? Do you just know with practice? It's kinda overwhelming for me as a beginner 🙈

    I wonder though, why finger in the 1st is actually UNDER the tape while in next positions is clearly on the tape? Is there's a reason for that? Going on half-position makes you put your 2nd finger ON the tape so maybe why? 🤔 Is there a reason why not put on the tape where the actual sound in 1st position is? Anyone? My daughter is learning in music school and feel so lost... 😅

    • @CelloCoach
      @CelloCoach  11 місяців тому

      what do you mean by "under"? Like closer to the bridge? That could be a misplacement of the tape in accordance to the string. the further from the bridge a note is, the wider the length of steps are on the fingerboard. Hence, slight alignments are more noticed in the 1/2 position
