Thank you. I've sold this one, but the new owner has given her a good looking paint job. Still running good though. We actually traded car, I drove 4 hours each way to meet him and she made the trip without a hitch.
That depends. The wiper and light switches I would recommend so the wipers shut off....the clock springs are different between rhd & lhd but other than that the rest are pretty much the same or interchangeable. This also depends on the vehicle being swapped vs the donor. Of course the wires need to be lengthened or use the donor dash harness....witch gets into wiring, which again goes to donor vs yours. Some cars can simply add a few wires and others need the entire dash & engine harness.
Subaru firewalls are stamped for both LHD & RHD, so a swap is pretty easy. All of the body parts are the same. The dash and steering setup need to be swapped to change LHD to RHD & vice versa. The JDM drivetrain, engine, hood, part of the interior and front bumper were swapped. Needed the hood swapped for the tmic since the car was originally scoop-less.
yea too bad i live in Australia though lol, plus i like what you have done to your car, like giving it the face lift! and stuff!!! i have the same model in the same colour so your vids have somewhat given me some inspiration!
Eh 207 vs 257 debate has be long going and will never end. I just used the old addage: hp sell cars, torque wins races. I also got addicted to my 04 sti and couldn't justice stripping it to put it into a $500+ shell, so sold my sti and bought one already swapped that I'm doing a little work to. Either way each engine is good and I like your plans as long as there is a 6spd in there too ;)
I was not talking about motor things or faster things, I was meaning the irony or odds of having a subaru fan live next to a nissan fan when there is like this thing like rivalry but if you guys both like the two then go ahead either way you've got nice cars
That is relative to your ability. To me it is all very easy, to others it maybe a daunting and unrealistic task. If you are state side I would recommend a usdm swap for easy of available parts and support.
It does sound like a metallic noisy idle in a way, but it must be the camera. I still get nervous when I think I hear a new noise in my EJ20K despite me knowing Subarus are just noisy cars.
haha as I said, I wanted to do a complete V5/V6 swap :) make it look "authentic", as in, a V6 STi in America you know? I would go USDM... but then again the V7 ej207 STi is the best with forged internals. I'll think more about it though, it's just that this looks like such a fun project
Any particular reason you don't wan't USDM drivetrain assuming you are state side? I have a full USDM sti swapped rs now with suspension mods done and it is better that my Goonie was in many ways. I do miss RHD a bit; just to have something different, but my RSTI is different in itself. Like the V6 body style the best (aside from the 22B) and have some V6 stuff on my rsti. The RHD is pretty easy if you've done cutting and welding before.
Ej207ej257 all day! Why do you think the Japanese keep putting the 207 in there STi's!?! The S206 is the best engine made by Subaru and its an ej207! & it makes more power stock. I personally prefer the ver7 ra-r or the ver9 ra-r spec c w/vf42! But my Ver5 Ej207 RA can make close #'s. If only I had dual AVCS!
We are both fans of Subaru and Nissan alike. I have had many, many 240sx's and have done different setups in them too. Never went sr though, but why do that when a rb can be done for just about the same amount and is so much stronger and faster.
hey mate when you did the conversion, did you literally have to change everything? like trunk boot switch, hood switch and door sils/electronics? I want to do this
"metallic" rattle? You maybe refering to some resonance from me using a camera and not a video camera. People commonly mistake injector tick on Subaru's for a problem.
hi,beautiful car ;) i have a 1997 wrx and i want swap my engine with sti 1997 engine, is posiible?is this plug and play or must also have sti ecu and gearbox? regards sorry but i don t speak english so good ,i m italian ;)
+scoodles93 Ended up trading for a turbo coupe.Think I sold that for $6-6.5k. I did not do the RHD conversion, it was already done when I bought the car....Wish I still had it. I got rid of this to get a BRZ.
Yes, but I would make sure the rear diff ratio is the same as the one in the tranny. You can use any ej engine with any ej paired tranny and the eg30 as well since it has the same bolt pattern as the ej's.
Tad0785 Hey man i'm going to be getting a 94 impreza wagon and it dosen't have that hood where exactly would i look for buying one of the sport hoods like yours?
Dominic Martinez You could get a jdm hood from an importer thats a 93-95 and it ill match up just fine. 97-01 headlights and grill are different [also a few different bumper but they are interchangeable]. You can convert your front end pretty easy and cheap to the 97-01 style since the impreza outbacks share the some front end.

that is a great engine, beautiful sound. getting my STI engine soon, good vid.
swapping engine, drivetrain and everything to rhd! I plan on doing a complete RS to V6 Sti conversion

01 Impreza coupe that was turbo'd with loads of suspension work.
Forum shopping lol. Took it apart before I installed it, cleaned and checked everything before I dropped it in though.

Thats pretty much the idea. Easier to me than doing the conversion in a 240sx/200sx with a sectional firewall.
Also I don't think we get RB were I live, the most common are KA24 and harder but not that hard to find is the SR20's but RB I have never seen.

so you could, I guess, cut the LHD firewall's holes and stuff, and put the RHD instead but inverted?

thanks mate, even the interior switches and dings like trunk boot need to be switched over?

This varies depending on your specific project or is you are simply doing a rhd to lhd or vs swap and nothing engine or drive train related.
cool, what car did you trade this beast for?
hi,beautiful car ;)

sorry but i don t speak english so good ,i m italian ;)
Is it hard to do a sti swap? Apart from electronics?
What's that metallic rattle?
hey there how much did you sell your car for? and did you RHD convert from LHD?

It seems you're a ubaru fan and your neighbor is a nissan fan haha lol
Would a 2.5 f4 and transmission from a 2001 legacy line up in a 93 impreza hatchback?
Yes, but I would make sure the rear diff ratio is the same as the one in the tranny. You can use any ej engine with any ej paired tranny and the eg30 as well since it has the same bolt pattern as the ej's.
