Just got my draculaura as my first doll since I’ve transitioned (ftm). I’ve been ashamed and scared to get dolls because I’ve perceived most of them as “girly”, even the male dolls, and I’m glad I finally gave in and got my favorite character.
I relate to this, dolls were my hyperfixation and when I started transitioning I gave them up, but god do I want to get them again, whenever I go to try more stuff comes up, but this helped idk 🤷♂️ (I’m not ftm exactly, genderfaun but close enough that I just say ftm most of the time)

I can't say I relate but with transitioning..but I absolutely relate with feeling ashamed as I'm 18 and I don't want people to judge me for my special interest (I'm also autistic so it upsets me more when people judge me for a special interest) but lately I've just said f it and I've just started telling people and I've met a few fellow doll collectors in doing so!
Hey, I'm 30+ and am trans and yet Dollightful has been one of my favorite YT channels for the last 4 or 5 years now. Don't fall into the trap of feeling like you have to give anything up based on gender or age! Wish someone had told me I was valid when I was a much younger transman. Oh well, I make up for lost times now! Maybe I'll get a doll or two myself.
When you eventually un-box them, I'd love to see a short break-down comparing the different body proportions, that's such a cool detail!
Also, you shouldn't feel guilty for collecting one of each doll. Like you said, you're a grown-ass woman who can get herself pretty shinies if she wants to!
I honestly loved the Gen 1 designs more simply because how unapologetic edgy the designs were and the different subculture styles they had like drakulaura and lolita fashion, Frankie preppy/grungy, laguna a little punk because of the fish nets and I really loved the nerdiness of Ghoulia.
I do like the new variety in body types, but in all honesty I am not a fan of the faces, like drakulaura's heart on her face or Frankie's stitches and their eye colors were such a big feature and they don't really work on a more realistic face and balance is kind of odd between face to head ratio. Also I really wished they kept Laguna blue. She reminds me more of a "mermaid out of water" than a sea monster

@@randomcrap4230 I agree! I really miss the old styling, it made them more unique now they feel like a barbie and rainbow high mixed on the monster high characters. However the new body molds are amazing so that's something to be excited about at least.
Same! I loved Frankie’s 1st outfit especially! Combining the preppy schoolgirl with grunge and goth elements. I kinda liked how the dolls were less sweet and cutesy looking as a whole. While I like that the new gen has different body types for each ghoul, I preferred the longer necks and less smiley faces. But that’s just me
@@Frosting1000 honestly I look at the shadow high dolls and they just remind me so much of 1st Gen monster high because they are restricted to black and white so they have to make the design really pop through cut, silhouette, fabrics, patterns/prints and accessories.
That's so amazing that they brought back the high quality and made way different body types for each doll!! Honestly that's just amazing

I think you're the first doll customizer I've seen be not only optimistic about the new line, but OPENLY excited about them! I can't wait to see what you do with the new bodies. And I honestly want to see a closer look at the new Lagoona. As much as I wish they kept her own design and let this design be a new character, I do LOVE the design. It's so bright and colorful, and it looks like she might have rainbow hair? It's really cool

I don't know anything about the new gen of monster high cuz I'm not really in either fandom (monter high or doll collecting/customizing (i only really watch Dollighightfull and maybe others if they happen to pop up in my recommendations) but I've only heard people complaining about the new dolls and designs

I see so much negativity around the new gen, Im glad someone else is openly excited about it! It's not exactly like gen 1 of course, but I have fallen completely in love with gen 3.
@@Phamfy89 the problem with frankie was more about the movie, which was a disaster. like each time frankie was introducing herself, she(?) would say that and it was most of the time unasked, and how come she knew what it was when she doesn't even know some basic things? idk i would've preferred they created another ghoul instead of adding useless change to already existing ones

As I said, I love Nonbinary Frankie. I've seen some people say they're autistic/autistic coded due to the way they act and it not too sure how I feel about it because I've heard that they play it off as jokes a lot in the movie (but that's not a problem/as much of a problem in the new show. I do want Frankie to be autistic because then they'd be even more like me haha. I'm autistic and nonbinary so that's probably part of why I like these changes so much

I’m not the biggest fan of a lot of the redesigns, but the quality and different body types are crazy good. I’m just glad to see the ghouls back on shelves!

I'm really happy about the fact that the new dolls are so diverse, especially in their body types, it makes me so happy to see myself represented in such a way that isn't typical with dolls usually, and the new designs are just so cute, I'm just absolutely obsessed with the gen 3 dolls
YESSS!! Sadly Monster High had cero body diversity before Gen 3 so I really hope they continue with this representation!
I didn't expect to like to new Lagoona- she was my favorite before Lagoonafire- due to her being pink now, but it's grown on me, and seeing the shark smile fanny pack really sold me on her new look.
honestly though, am i the only one who’d prefer just a new series?? don’t get me wrong, i love monster high and i really appreciate them going this direction, but i’d feel better if we could just make some new, exciting representation that doesn’t just feel like slapping 60 pounds on a character.

Chubby dracularua is the upgrade that I desperately needed I love her so much!!
I can totally understand why some people don't love the new designs because they aren't as easily customizable or as edgy as the old designs, but they're meant to be for kids and looked at in that context I think they're absolutely incredible; amazing quality, adorable designs, beautiful details, and currently not too expensive. I personally love them lol
Make sure to seal Lagoona’s legs if you don’t plan on customizing her! Her legs scratch so easily, is a mess:(
I absolutely adore the new draculaura! She’s smaller and curvier than the other dolls and I feel so represented! You and your mom are so adorable!
I also really like that choice, it feels unique to have a shorter vampire character and I like that! Definitely feels like her character got “softer” with that change.

Dracularua is deffo my new favourite. Before she really didn't do it for me but the ears and the body type changed all that. Base dolls looks like she's wearing pyjamas tho 🤮
I saw the Rainbow High/Shadow High dolls on the shelves the last time I went to Target and my instant thought was "has Dollightful seen these? Because those are some great body-types for if she wants to do a ticker doll without having to mod it." It's great to see the articulation coming back to the Monster High dolls! Glad you had fun shopping with your mother!
I'm pretty sure she has a couple Rainbow High dolls but said she loves them so much she can't bring herself to "Destroy them" before customisation although if she found a beat up junky 1 she might customise it (I think it was in a toy hunting video aswell) she definitely has Jet Dawson :)
I absolutely love the amputee/prosthetic representation in the new Frankie Stein as does my grandma as she is an amputee she had to get about knee down of her left leg removed due to a motorcycle accident and yes my grandma was the one on the motorcycle and I've known about the reason for the amputation basically since I was old enough to comprehend sentences and I am still absolutely in awe at the fact that my grandma was once a motorcyclist her and I have had an amazing relationship since I was born after all she was the first thing I saw after I opened my eyes I love her to death❤️❤️❤️
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss the old designs of some of the dolls but I’m still super excited to see them back in stores !!

It's so cute how you and your mom go toy shopping together when you're on the same continent. Also, the whole, "I have adult money and I'm going to spend it on what I want" is such a mood. It's so easy to get lost in the, "I'm an adult, I need to let go of childish things" mentality. As long as you're still putting aside money to pay bills, food, and other essentials, there's nothing wrong with spoiling yourself every once and a while 😊
The fact that the Monster High dolls have more realistic proportions shows you just how much care about the impact these will have on younger girls

I actually really like these new dolls! Although I definitely am biased towards gen 1 and am very much missing the old designs I don't dislike the gen 3 dolls. I will say I am personally not a huge fan of lagoona's or deuce's designs (lagoon is great I'm just not a fan a few small aspects like the head scales and the hairstyle isn't my favorite. And with deuce I really just perfer the male g1 dolls alot more, I think the way they made the hair and face throws it off.) But I am IN LOVE with cleo, frankie, ghoulia, and Draculaura! I love how they made frankie nb!

I absolutely adore what they did with Cleo as always. Her outfit, the molded on bandages that they carried over from G2 and OMG her makeup!! That gold stripe on her lower lip is everything to me. I just wish these dolls would come to New Zealand already! 😩😩

I just got my hands on a Draculara and am so excited... to customize her! Her body type is beyond perfect for an OC I've been planning. I kjust can't not use her. But I ~love~ the new body types and cannot wait to get my hands on them for customizing. The original dolls are so waifelike. Gen 3 seems so much more substantial.

for canadians (and i believe americans too), Indigo has all of the g3 dolls and is always in stock! they’re a bit higher than other stores but we don’t have target so it’s the next best thing haha

Although I am not the biggest fan of the choices they made in the redesigns for some characters, Lagoona's whole look, Frankie's change in skin color, and Toralei's whole character change, I am excited to see how other dolls will look later in the line! I'm most excited for Rochelle Goyle! She has such a unique design and I'm curious as to how they will change it up.

I like some of the designs in this generation, I like the diverse body types more. My favorite has to be Draculara, she's so cute and the wider body frame suits her.

I saw they came out with new Monster High dolls in an Amazon Christmas booklet and nearly flipped out. I was so upset when they took the ball jointed monster high dolls off the shelves that, as a 15 yr teenager, seeing them bring them back as they did made me so happy. I officially want Monster High dolls for Christmas. YOU CANT STOP ME NOW ADULTHOOD. I'LL STILL ACT LIKE A CHILD ANYWAYS.

It's actually definitely a good idea you kept them in the box bc the paint on the dolls' bodies (ie frankie's stitches and lagoona's legs) isn't sealed properly! so do make sure to do that if you don't want chipping on them. :>
(Also no, they're not target exclusive, except for Ghoulia. Similarly, Toralei is walmart exclusive and Deuce is amazon exclusive.)

Many of the stores for some reason are not putting them on the shelves in America. Monster High for some reason is just an online purchase only doll for many locations. Also another thing to keep in mind when you do unbox them. Their paint isn't sealed properly. Frankie's stitches have been known to rub off, Lagoona's legs will chip, and all of their faces have been reported to rub of off as well. So be sure to give them a good coat of msc when you open them! They are gorgeous dolls and I'm glad they are back but unfortunate this is what we've got to deal with.
I'm not fan of G3 Monster High dolls (I like some dolls) but I'm happy that Dollightful is enjoying new doll line together with her mom.
Same here! To me, the G3 MH Dolls don't look as uniquely spooky.
They feel a bit more bland compared to most of the older dolls but the new ones could be great in customised pieces

a lot of people are upset about the new designs and I get that, it's frustrating seeing a big part of your childhood be changed so much, but these new dolls are super cute!!! I don't love all the changes but I'm still happy with it, and I'm glad a generation will get to grow up with these, even if they're so different from what we had.

I was so hyped when they came out! Going to Toys R Us with my boyfriend and scanning the shelves for our favorite doll felt just like when I got to do it with my mom when Gen 1 came out! 10/10 the dolls are so cute and proudly displayed in our living room.

Honestly I’ve been watching some clips of gen3 monster high and I gotta say they have so much more personality and each design was so unique. Glad to see the franchise is making a comeback

I saw Monster High dolls at the Walmart here in Atlantic Canada, I had been restoring dolls and doll clothes for my mom and my niece they play virtually most of the time but my parents do visit her once in a while out west.
I've seen some people re-face Draculaura and do her original design on the new doll and it's SO pretty, seriously, I'm a bit sad they didn't stick with the darker, edgy designs more...
Clawdeen is cute, and Cleo's face mold is really beautiful to me, and I prefer Deuce as a doll than in the movie, and it seems his face mold is fine.
But I don't like Frankie's new face mold at all, the face is too flat and the lips are too prominent and the color of the lipstick is not right at all, too light for the character's skin color (which changes all the time and it's also annoying), I also don't really enjoy the new Ghoulia, I don't like the shape of the doll's face, its too pointed and angular for my taste and the skin color is also not pretty in my eyes.
Lagoona... I have a hard time with her because of the whole thing of changing her skin color and ethnicity from Australian to Latin and her becoming the Latin stereotype of "just looking for love", but her face is cute, I don't really understand what's going on with her legs, the color change feels strange to me and although It looks quite clean, it feels like they made it out of a different plastic than the rest of the doll, which is strange to me
It seems to me personally that the most successful dolls right now from the new ones are Draculaura, Clawdeen and Cleo.
Wait they changed Lagoona that much?!! She was my fav for years and now I don't like her anymore, mainly becasue of the skin color-change and her personalty-change too :'(
Honestly at first I wasn’t in love with Lagoona’s redesign, but the more I see it, the more it’s grown on me! (Same with them making Frankie non-binary and the Clawdeen/Deuce romance, still on the fence about the latter 😅)
I love that they’re making the dolls different body types and being more inventive with their abilities (Draculaura being able to do magic is super cool!)
All in all I might have to put a couple of these ghouls on my Christmas list 🤭

you are gonna love the fact that they have a bjd-like joint (i don't think it's a joint but I don't know what to call it) in their torso, specifically their chest so they have more range of movement than the previous generations
