i LOVE the inclusivity and different body types but personally nothing beats the og dolls style and face sculpts and colors as well
New Frankie's skin being different is actually kinda funny. Mattel no longer has the permission from Universal to use their interpretation of Frankenstein's monster with green skin and bolts in the neck, so they had to tweak the design. The character is public domain, but their design of the monster is not
i agree with you on removing Clawdeen’s nose paint,she’s a wolf not a deer & with the freackles and nose paint she looks like a deer (specifically Bambi)😂😂

I miss the old face sculptures, but I absolutely LOVE Dracula. I feel like she’s the only one they got right, although I wish they gave her actual Pom poms like the rainbow high ones.

@@ryn4860 I think the new body types are cool, I just miss the old sharp face sculptures. It made them look more expensive and artistic, A high quality for collectors and kids. The new ones just look like very other kids toy, which is fine for new fans, but I feel like it just cheapens the look.

@@ryn4860 I love that Draculaura is shorter bc she is supposed to be shorter. She always needed Clawds help getting her books, "it's because I'm short, isn't it?" but I don't like that they made her curvy. Nothing against the curvy, I'm quite curvy myself, but I would think if they wanted to make a curvy doll for made the bad kitty Toralei, or Clawdeen.
The major difference seems like the OG were more adult looking while these new ones look more like high school teenagers, less high fashion face looks and more year book faces.
in all fairness, they were 16-17 years old so I don't mind them looking a bit younger than the ogs

I hate tinsle in doll hair because it always ends up getting ratty. However having it in Cleo's hair does make sense on a esthetic level. I might keep it on a display collection doll but definitely pull it on a child's doll.
@@katmartindale8049 I spent so long getting it out of one of my rainbow high girls. I hate how it goes all kinky and doesn’t sit flat with the rest of the hair. Horrible stuff haha

@@moonagainstnights these dolls r not more detailed there hair is lower quality and there outfits i feel mattel needs to step up there game because mga is giving us so much but all mattel is focusing on is barbie im afraid there going to do what they did with the other doll lines that got discontinued like creatable world and cave club id love more creatable world dolls they are such good quality but mattel ended there brand
The curl problem on the dolls hair is because of the hair type. Clawdeen has polypropylene hair which is a much much worse quality but i think holds hairstyles at least better than Saran, which is what the other ghouls have! That's why Torelai's hair didn't curl, because Saran has a difficult time holding curls and hairstyles. Don't be fooled tho, Saran it's a much better quality than poly
Saran is really good for straight hair, but it's a nightmare to curl. I've used Saran for several reroots. I will say I DO like that you can just sort of brush any kinks out of it eventually without the news for a boil wash, but it definitely doesn't take a curl well.
What she did with Clawdeen’s hair was very nice and seems without much difficulty.
I think this is why they chose to use Poly for Clawdeens hair because she is supposed to have curls, and I can't imagine trying to mass curl saran hair goes over well.
I really miss their old faces. So much cuter before, but I'm glad they're making a comeback.
Good move getting rid of Clawdeen’s nose paint. The articulation is WAY better then I expected it to be. That’s nice.
the newer face sculps and art is too cutesy for my taste. i'd likely do a head swap between the og dolls and the new gens. because i Do like the thicker bodies of the new dolls. and while draculaura isn't my fave, having her be curvy-petite is pretty cool. i also like the prosthetic leg on frankie. it adds a bit of inclusivity that wasn't really there before.
I'm so happy for a new generation to be able to enjoy these dolls, but for me, they're too cutesy and vibrant. That was something I loved about the OG dolls. They were "dark" dolls and Im gonna miss that.

I think I generally don't mind these, and I really like the changes with Frankie in particular. But I'm not sure I've ever hated anything on a doll as much as I hate Draculaura's bangs lol 🤣they look like the front grill part on an old train
The way I hated the bangs throughout the entire video over everything else and wanted her to cut them 😂. Frankie's new design caught me off guard, but it also made sense with them being nonbinary now and having more androgynous features rather than feminine. I definitely love the new body types and how Cleo's skin is darker even if it's only tad bit darker than the OG.
I will always have a special place in my heart for the og monster high dolls
clawdeens hair is polypropelene so it can curl easily by heat you an even use curling iron rest of the dolls have saran so their hair might be difficult to curl
Clawdeen is definitely lighter shade than her original which I personally don’t like. I do love the thicker body shape and that Draculaura is curvy. Also that Frankie has a prosthetic leg which make so much sense I can’t believe it wasn’t an original concept.
i think new dolls are cool for kids. they are fun cartoonish and bright. for us there are scullector and fashion line

It's like the new generation MH fused with the Cave Club and Wild Hearts Crew lines... I still prefer the OG ones, those are fabulous! But these dolls are not bad at all, not so fierce as OG, but quite cute on their own. They feel like the teens, as OG ones are definitely young adults. And the previous reboot looked like tweens... IMO, of course. I do like this adorable Clawdeen! And I'm sad that Frankie lost their green tint of skin...
Bootiful new Ghouls ! I very much appreciate your customization of the dolls right out of the box . I personally would have done the same removing nose paint . Definitely will look out for this doll pack .

Honestly I don't hate this reboot, it could have been a lot worse. They didn't go too far off the rails with the designs, though I'm generally not really a fan of how brightly colored everything is now as opposed to the more muted color palettes of the original. Still, I like most of these dolls well enough.

I noticed that Cleo's eyeliner is done in the Eye of Horus on one side. Clever addition.
I still love the original dolls but I think the new ones are adorable!
I think I personally prefer the o.g face sculpts but I do like Frankie’s prosthetic. It’s got a really cool design. I also thought your modifications were a real improvement. I’d have been so tempted to trim and define Draculaura’s V bangs though (I think that’s the style name?)
But overall, I think they’re pretty cool but you can’t top the original! Thanks for another great video. Hope you’re well!

As someone that owns every single Draculaura doll, I really love this take on her and I feel like it shows her personality well. I never really counted her dolls as particularly dark. Except for a few, the 'goth' fashion was pretty tame and I feel as if these dolls have a good modernization to them that will actually reach kids and hopefully, keep their run longer
I do miss the old Monster High dolls, they were a big part of my childhood and from a time where Mattel still released nice quality dolls (or at least better than nowadays), but I do think the new dolls are cute, just wish they're cheaper, since their quality dropped in comparation to the OG.
I think of g1, g2 and g3 as if their all part of a Multiverse. You know similar but different. So happy you posted this on my birthday.
Love them but I have more fun finding the older versions of dolls bringing them home and researching who they are. Now that I have seen you change your dolls, I want to take mine to the limit
I really like how we got varied heights and body types from the get go! I hope they make more mansters with these differences, although I wouldn't be too mad if they have Deuce same body

These dolls are definitely better than the ones from the Gen2 reboot. All in all, I think there's some things that have been improved and some things that have lost a bit of quality...
I love how the bodies are now even more unique with the sculpted-on hair/bandages/etc., body shape variations and Frankie's prosthetic. Also, I will forever love any extra articulation, so the upper body joint is amazing!
What I personally don't like is that the clothes look a lot less detailed both in fabric variation as well as design (compared to the original dolls, I mean). Also, the colors of clothes and hair (and some of the skin tones too) seem brighter than the original doll line, which is frustrating. The darker colors were one of the main selling points back then to me because they set these dolls apart from all other doll lines and made them more unique and interesting. it's sad that dark colors vanish from doll lines again more and more.
I understand why the bodies have been made thicker now, both in reaction to buyers' complaints about unhealthy body image as well as an attempt to make the dolls a bit more sturdy when being played with. Still... I wish they old and new clothes and shoes were compatible.
The doll that impresses me the most, is probably Frankie. I love the more punk-y look with the half shaved hair style. And the prosthetic leg is really cool as it fits the character so perfectly.
Only question left is... where's Ghoulia? I miss her. 💕
Ghoulia doll is a Target exclusive. I don't know why she is not in the pack though

These newer & more diverse sculpts (limbs, faces) & more articulation in afab characters (y'know, the ribcage articulation) has me SUPER excited, but seeing all theses dolls together, having a color palette that I can only describe as "sherbet" when compared to older iterations really just looks unappealing to me, and it's a shame. I was hoping that I could be wholly excited for the new squad.

I LOVE the new line!! It is so cool how there is heightsdifferences unlike with Barbie and other dolls there are only 3 main heights. I also am OBSESSED with the new Frankie doll, she is so cute!! And I love the prosthetic leg, we don’t get of that representation in dolls

Glad to see you review these so closely and make little modifications. I'm not sure I plan to remove the new noses myself but did like Clawdeen both with & without it and overall do think these all are a step in a new but focused direction. Eagerly awaiting G3 to fully be in stores!!!
