    Thanks @davidstotalfitness for this excellent intro workout video for the Total Gym. While I've been using mine for over 3 years now, it is good to get back to basics and review proper technique every once and a while. I particularly liked your explanation for the oblique twister by saying to lead with the obliques and not the arms. It's easy to get into a routine and do workouts on automatic pilot, these little cues and tips help bring back the focus on proper movement and form.

    That's an excellent modification for the inverted hamstrings. Anytime I lay down at that angle, it makes me feel sick. I'll try that modification on my next workout tomorrow. Thanks for the great tip!!

    Thank you for making this video! I've been turned off by most of the "rah rah" type tutorial vids here on UA-cam for TGs, but I find your voice, pace and manner just the perfect pitch for me. Love how you take little breaks too. I've had my TG for years, but let it sit due to not really understanding what to do. You've broken it down into perfect bites, so now I get it! Where is that other longer beginner workout you mention at the beginning of this video? Thx! :)

    I finally did it. However I found my shoulders are very weak and the inverted hamstrings scared me. I switched the other way and did knee ups and RDLs with some weights. This was a great quick workout. Got a good sweat!

    I'm only 5'4 and I bought my Chuck Norris Edition TotalGym from QVC and my board seems too small. You can barely lay your head on the pad. It does work OK for me though a bit too scrunched. If I were a tall person I think it wouldn't work for them. I wonder if they shortened the board for my edition. In the video he looks comfortable and the board seems long enough. Might just be my perception? Thanks for the video. I bought this TotalGym 3? Years ago & briefly used it before storing it, and now I'm going to use your video as my beginner workout. Much appreciated 😊

      Glad you found the video helpful! The glideboard in the video is about 45" long. Yours should be about the same. I'm 5'11". Try moving your body up/down the board to see what works best for you. Good luck and thanks for watching!

      Yeah, I'm 5'7" and it seems short to me as well. I mean, necessity is the mother of invention, so I'm thinking that someone could make up a board with the right materials and a few tools.

    • @DavidsTotalFitness
      @DavidsTotalFitness  4 місяці тому +1

      It depends on your fitness levels and goals. For someone new to Total Gym and just starting on their fitness journey, I would say every other day. If up for more of a challenge, continue with every other day but repeat it twice. Either back to back or once in the morning and once again later in the day. After 2-3 weeks, try moving up to the full version of this workout: ua-cam.com/video/L0WJ4RwTD5E/v-deo.htmlsi=Jdk-R3rPFgzgEseW
      Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

    I'm just now watching this, David. Nice workout, and you're a good explainer.
    I did use your link to purchase a Chuck Norris signature edition Fit, because I want to be cool like Chuck Norris.
    I am still learning my way around the equipment, and this helps. Intuitively, I've been doing a similar evolution on mine, but with a slight modification. I have done 2 sets of 5 of each exercise to warm up, then one set of 10.
    Last night, I still did 1 set of 5, then 1 set of 10, even though I was going for 2 sets of 10. Maybe next time. Or, I may try it the way you did it with one set of 12-15. I'm pretty sure I can handle that.
    Question: if I buy another Total Gym as a gift, can I do the same thing by using your code?
    Thanks!

      Glad you found the video and thanks for using my link to purchase! Really appreciate it! Sounds like you are making progress - keep at it! Yes, you should be able to use the link again for an additional 10% off. FYI ... they discontinued the Chuck Norris edition, but the Anniversary Edition is a better value IMO because it comes with more accessories: tinyurl.com/fit-anniv

    During the squats, when do you breathe in, and when do you breathe out?

    • @DavidsTotalFitness

      Breathe in as you lower down and exhale as you press away from the squat stand. 👍

    Hey
    Just wondering
    I’ve had the old style total gym 11,000
    Which I’m planning on buying again used this Saturday
    I got rid of mine when I got divorced couple years ago
    Anyways
    Wondering if you’ve ever checked out the 11,000 EFI model or even the 26,000 EFI model
    They’re a little older, but I think they’re better than the what they have available now
    Thanks for all your videos
    You are very motivating

      Thanks for you comment! Glad you are liking the videos. I've never tried those models but I know there are people that love their old-school Total Gyms. If it's in good shape, why not? They all pretty much do they same thing as long as you use them.

    • @DavidsTotalFitness
      @DavidsTotalFitness  29 днів тому

      It's difficult to give a precise setting because the resistance is based on how much the user weighs and their strength level. But, to give you a starting point ... For the squats and pull-ups, I would start half way up the rails and for everything else, about a quarter of the way up the rails. Do it that way your very first time to get used to the exercises and movements. See how you feel afterwards/next day. It's best to start low and slow so you can get used to it. Go at your own pace - take breaks if you need to. As you feel stronger and can complete all 15 reps with good form, it's time to go up a level. Hope that helps!
