If the 2 ran to New Lots and the 5 ran to Crown Heights permanently, something would indeed have to be done about the Nostrand Av line. I see two options regarding Nostrand Av. Option 1: The first option involves sending the (1) train into Brooklyn through a new East River tunnel that would turn into a new subway line under Bergen St. There would be stops at: - Henry St, for a connection to the (F) and (G) trains - Nevins St - Flatbush Av, for a connection to the (2) and (3) trains at the existing Bergen St station - Washington Av - Bedford-Rogers Avs After Bedford-Rogers Avs, the line would turn south onto Nostrand Av and connect with the existing portion of the Nostrand Av line at President St. The existing platforms would be closed, but the track connection would be retained in the event that trains have to be rerouted. There would also be provisions for the line to be extended further east to Broadway Junction, and if that were to happen, the (9) train would be revived and serve that extension. There would be stops at: - Kingston Av - Utica Av - Howard Av - Rockaway Av - Final stop at Broadway Junction, for a connection to the (A), (C), (J/Z), and (L) lines. One issue I see with this option is that it makes the (1) train the longest local train in the system, with 51 stops end-to-end. But I don't think it would be too big of an issue since it's very unlikely that someone would ride end-to-end. (Unless you're a transit enthusiast recording a full ride video!) Option 2: The second option involves a bunch of elements from early IND plans. The first is the Worth Street Line, which was first featured in the 1929 Second System expansion plans. Under this option, the line would be served by the (E) train and use existing provisions south of Canal St. With this, the World Trade Center terminal would be closed and instead be used to store trains. There would be stops at: - Chatham Square, for a connection to the future Second Avenue Subway if it gets built - Rutgers St-East Broadway, for a connection to the (F) train - Montgomery St The line would then run into Brooklyn via a new East River tunnel that would lead to a new subway under Bedford Av. A subway under Bedford Av had been proposed at various times from the 1930s-1950s, often referred to as part of a "third system," according to a track map made by vanshnookenraggen. There would be stops at: - Clymer St - Flushing Av - Myrtle Av - Lafayette Av, for a connection to the (G) train at Bedford-Nostrand Avs - Fulton St, for a connection to the (A) and (C) at Nostrand Av South of Fulton St, the line would turn southeast under Nostrand Av. Like Option 1, the line would turn south onto Nostrand Av and connect with the existing portion of the Nostrand Av line at President St. With this, the platforms at each station south of Eastern Parkway would have to be trimmed back and lengthened to handle the wider and longer B division trains. Please tell me your thoughts on these options!
Killing off the Nostrand Avenue branch would be a bad idea in real life, because then you would cause the B44 SBS to be overcrowded. Least you can do is extend the 1 and 6 to have them run along the Nostrand Avenue branch. Have it run as its own branch though, don’t have the 1 and 6 run along Eastern Parkway, because that could cause delays. In fact, spice it up a bit by having the 1 run along Nostrand Avenue, down to Manhattan Beach Park-Oriental Boulevard, and have the 6 handle Utica Avenue, down to Avenue U-Kings Plaza, then continue on to Jacob Riis Park in the Rockaways where it’ll terminate.
@@durece100 I meant making the map and the video for the channel is for fun. I didn't mean removing the Nostrand Av Line in real life is fun. Obviously that isn't good. Me making the map edit and this video does NOT mean that I like, or support the idea of removing the Nostrand Av Line. I just fulfilled somebody's request in the comment section, that's all.
Map suggestion: (1) in 2 sections 1st section from South Ferry to Harlem 148 St 2nd section from 137 St to 242 St (2) runs normally (3) from New Lots Av to 42 St
Good suggestion: make the M brown and return its 2015 route and add the H train to the orange, so it goes like the 2022 M, but Forest Hills to Bay Ridge 95 st
I wonder how the customers for the Nostrand Ave line would react if this happened irl?.... If I was MTA I would at least extend the (1) or (6) down to Flatbush Ave
Well, this does happen every day during rush hours! If the 5 permanently went to Utica and 2 permanently to New Lots, yes, there would have to be something for Nostrand but I don't think the 1 and 6 could fit on the local tracks while sharing with the 2 and 3.
@@TransitTalkEXTRAS if the 5 permanently went to Utica and the 2 permanently went to New Lots, I would try sending the 1 and/or 6 into Brooklyn via a new tunnel that connects with the Nostrand Avenue Line.
So maybe we could cut the 4 and 5 back at Bowling Green, or Brooklyn Bridge, or whatever and then we could run the 2 train to Utica Avenue or new lots ave and I will cut the 3 back at Crown Heights. You could a Avenue Via express or run it normal to new lots ave that’s what I would do if I would if 1 and 6 handled the local service, well the 2 and 3 handle the express
@@abbyaidanandalexacosta6656 that idea sounds cool but a plan that I recently came up with is similar to early IND Second System plans. The first element of this would be the Worth Street Line, first proposed in 1929. It would be built as a two-track line that would be served by a rerouted E line. It would use existing provisions south of Canal Street; this results in a de facto closure of the World Trade Center terminal, or it could be served by the H train if the Queens Blvd line gets deinterlined and if the QueensLink were to be built. There would be stops at Chatham Square (with a connection to the future Second Avenue Subway) and East Broadway-Rutgers Street (with a connection to the F line). Then, the line would turn under Grand Street and run into Brooklyn via a new East River tunnel. Once the line gets to Brooklyn, it would gain a third track, which would be used for storing trains and running peak direction express service. It would run under Bedford Av with local stops at Clymer St, Flushing Av, Myrtle Av, and Lafayette Av (with a connection to the G line at Bedford-Nostrand Avs); and an express stop at Fulton St. South of Fulton St, the line would curve to the southeast and take over the current IRT Nostrand Avenue Line to Flatbush Av. With this, the 2 and 5 would continue eastward along Eastern Parkway.

Can you do the (3) along the proposed Utica Avenue Subway and the (4) to New Lots next?
Can u do the (3) via Jerome to Bedford Pk Blvd and Nostrand Avenue extension with the (2) & (3) and the (5) via Utica
Next you should do the 3 train to 137 street on the 1 train once again thank you again

I just wanted to see a rush hour edition or this would be a weekend change
Omg thank you so much
No problem, thank you for commenting.
That's a bad idea to remove nostrand ave line. This even cause more train congestion.
