You did an amazing job. There are a few tips and tricks I’d like to pass on to you that I’ve learned over my many years. When creating a set in sleeve, use sleeve heads, and a thin, maybe 1/4” shoulder pad. That will help the jacket maintain its structure. Fully create your collar as a separate piece. When it’s done pin it to a pressing ham, steam it, and let it rest for a day. That would be outside your 24 challenge tho😉 Attach the collar, then attach your lining. The extra large welts really are an eye catching beautiful feature. When finish always take the jacket to the cleaners. Have them do a light cleaning, and steam and press. They have equipment that can really give the garment polished finish that we can’t quite get at home. That color turned out great too. I hope you don’t find this annoying. When I was young I would pick as many seamstress, and designers brains as I could. I just like to pass on what I’ve learned🙏🏽
A agree with all of what you said, except creating the collar as a separate piece, at least for this project (a tailored jacket that's fully lined). He did it the correct way. When you sew the under collar to the neck body & the top collar to the neck lining body, you are able to press open the collar seam on both sides, that way the thickness of the collar seam are evenly distributed on both sides of the seam (2 layers on each side, with a total of 4 layers on each side once you sew the body to the lining). Then you sew closed the neck seam by stitching in the ditch. If you sew the collar as a separate piece & then sew it to the body by sandwich it between the neck body & the lining body, you would have all the collar /neck seam thickness would be distributed in one direction, that's a total of 6 layers on the body side.
Thank you for doing the way I was taught to do sewing in the 1960s. And the pressing of every seem made me proud of you. Sometimes I see sewing online and I just can't keep looking. Yours was a pleasure from beginning to the modeling. Thank you and this granny of 73 will subscribe. Do yourself a favour and upgrade to an industrial Juki. It's like heaven.
I totally get why you were smitten by the color and pattern of that Gucci coat, and your version is.absolutely scrumptious! Not only are you talented, your ongoing narrative was a hoot. Impressive results, entertaining journey. Thanks for bringing us along, you mad, mad boy.
We need a shot of you in front of the billboard to compare yours vs. theirs! You matched the color wonderfully, and I prefer the texture of your fabric. You in the tank top doesn't hurt! Great work as always!
I don’t know, I think the fabric he chose has a beautiful drape and movement. Maybe some fancy boucle I’ve never felt may do that too but I was wowed by the way it moved. Especially since the search looked like a blue tarp someone had woven lol.
How do you only have 7k subs?!? Gorgeous jacket!! Very nice modeling at the end!! Then for the wrapup chat, you put your baseball hat on for the final touch 😂
Out-freakin'-standing!! I'm liking it better than the inspiration piece. Nice job on fabric selection. I would have thought more fraying, but you crushed it Sir. And yeah, you didn't have to count the time you got to sleep, eat or walk Scout pup. Thank you for sharing your personal challenge and video with us!
That jacket is delicious looking 👀! The model ain’t bad either! I love, love, love your sewing videos, but, I also love your interior design videos! Looking forward to each episode 😊
Fuck man thats impressive. Well done! I have been sewing for a year and a half and my brain still cant understand how something can go from a roll of raw fabric to a fully formed coat. Its crazy.
My grandma taught me to leave the lining loose on the bottom so it doesn't pull the main fabric up. Other than that, it's fabulous; you did an amazing job in 24 hours. I couldn't do that in a week!
Beautiful job, and very inspiring to me to keep going. As a “plus sized” guy, it’s frustrating finding designer menswear that fits me, so I often get inspired by something I see and try to replicate it in my size. I’ve learned to alter smaller patterns to my size and take liberties with certain features to get the look I want. Anyway, guys who sew are the coolest. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one. And Mood has the best selection. That fabric was truly a needle in a haystack.❤
You did an amazing job. Couple of pointers. If you get a clapper for pressing or improvise, pressing is much easier. You also need to allow extra on your lining to prevent it causing pulling. I expect you will sort that when you hand stitch your hem. But good job. I love the colour.
I am OBSESSED! Turned out absolutely gorgeous! I’ve had my eye on a coat that same very shade from Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 24 collection. Not in my budget 😉 but definitely on my sewing inspiration and eventual to make list 😍 love love your end result 👏
you did absolutely amazing! Next time when you are not a 24 hour challenge you can try to completely cool down the seams and collar instead of pressing the hell out of it as you say. Once it ti cooled down it will keep its shape. No brutal force needed. You can use a clapper, or any piece of wood (that will absorbe the moisture and heat) or even your hands! Well done I hope you get a lot of good wears out of it!
Hahaha I thought of that too! But honestly it doesn’t feel rough or anything. It’s just a weird material that had the perfect color and pattern. And more importantly- was in budget!
It’s wild how that material looked like a woven tarp in the swatch but the drape! It has really exquisite drape. Ended up looking like silk to me when you put it all together. You have a new subscriber!
Amazing, although here in Florida I’m dreaming of cool, coat weather! I personally would prefer the sweep of a long coat. I’m not a fan of the narrow Gucci version, especially with a wider pant leg. Didn’t I see you in a vibrant blue Oscar party suit? 🤔 Can’t wait to see your next project.
Years ago, I 'built' an overcoat (I live in upstate NY, so I could never find a winter coat that was warm enough, that had the right pockets, etc.) and one thing I learned from that project was that once you get started, it can be sort of tough to make changes. Great job on your blue coat though.
This was immensely satisfying to watch. Your energy and positivity is infectious. New subscriber! Handsome devil in a blue coat at the end! 😍 Great job!
Haha I had the TV on just connected my headphones. Honestly I get so “in the zone” that I’m not even focusing on what’s happening so it’s just background noise
Love the jacket! You did such a great job! The pockets are perfect! The covered buttons put it over the top. If you’re willing to put in more time I think a hand stitched top stitch on the collar and the hems would be a nice touch. Though I really like the clean lines as well.
Yeah I usually add a top stitch but I kinda like the clean lines on this one- plus I was trying to replicate the Gucci jacket as much as possible 🤷🏼♂️
It is official, you are pretty amazing, that coat is amazing. New to your channel, i wondered where you learned your sewing skills. When did your interest start? Myself had the bug around 20yrs old but distracted by life. Some 50+ plus years later I bought a sewing machine. Thanks to UA-cam video inspirations, kinda like yours.
Awww thanks! I’ve been sewing since I was a kid but didn’t really take a big interest in it until about 5 years ago. Mom was a Home Economics teacher and Grandma was a tailor her whole life!

thank you for sharing these tips with all of us ✨🙏🏽💕
Thanks for the tips!!
Self taught. Had never heard of Sleeve heads/ sleeve head rolls, so I googled it. So interesting!Love how I always learn something new on YT!🌺

Haha anytime!

Great work as always!
I totally would, but they changed the billboard! 🤦🏻♂️
I love watching you create. You have a beautiful eye for design.
Thank you! 🥰
It’s even more special than Gucci because you made it.
Agreed!!
Id gladly buy yours over Gucci. The colour you picked is unreal, If It was a boucle fabric it would heaven on earth👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I don’t know, I think the fabric he chose has a beautiful drape and movement. Maybe some fancy boucle I’ve never felt may do that too but I was wowed by the way it moved. Especially since the search looked like a blue tarp someone had woven lol.

Silk threads for your tacking throughout.

Yeah I was worried about the fabric as well but it wasn’t as difficult as you’d think
Gucci should probably hire you 😊

Love it! It came out so nice! 💙
Fuck man thats impressive. Well done! I have been sewing for a year and a half and my brain still cant understand how something can go from a roll of raw fabric to a fully formed coat. Its crazy.

Yes for creating your own!!! Fashion should be accessible for everyone and sometimes doing it yourself is the best and easiest solution. ❤️
Great job ❤❤❤

I really appreciate that! Thank you!
24:50 great job 💙
Love this. I’m subscribing. ❤
Welcome!!
Beautiful jacket!
When you showed the sample and said it look plastic, I thought it looked like a tarp from Harbor Freight or Home Depot. But you made that look good.
Hahaha I thought of that too! But honestly it doesn’t feel rough or anything. It’s just a weird material that had the perfect color and pattern. And more importantly- was in budget!
I love it! I like your length better than the inspiration coat.
Me too!! Thanks so much
It’s wild how that material looked like a woven tarp in the swatch but the drape! It has really exquisite drape. Ended up looking like silk to me when you put it all together. You have a new subscriber!
Right?! I thought the same thing!
Wonderful job hun. Just gorgeous ❤❤❤ new subscribers here😊
Welcome!! Glad you’re here! And thanks so much 🥰
Your attention to detail is incredible. It’s gorgeous.
Wow! Absolutely amazing! I have to say, I like yours way better than the Gucci coat. Really awesome work!
Awww thank you!
Ugh! Why wasn’t I born with innate talents like you! I wish I could sew-have a wonderful machine, but can’t even, thread a bobbin‼️🥂 hahaha
Just takes time and practice! I used to be horrible 🤣
Nice job! Looks great and better than the inspiration!
Thanks so much!

Absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't sew the button on let alone an entire coat.
We all have our skills… 🤷🏼♂️🤣
Amazing!!! Woww. How did u get the pattern? Can you share it please?
So good! Not my color but, so well done and beautiful. You are so talented. Greetings from Spain.
Thank you!!

I love it ❤❤❤❤
Amazing
Love the color! Great choise! What music were you listening to while making the coat?
Haha I had the TV on just connected my headphones. Honestly I get so “in the zone” that I’m not even focusing on what’s happening so it’s just background noise
EXEPTIONAL VOICE
WOW WOW WOW🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
