Thank you for all the tips it’s really going to help, I never taught about picking them off the floor if you have them in containers smart 💡 such a helpful video thank you.
You are a ROCK STAR! I am sorry I haven't taken the time to tell you before but I admire your dedication to your family , your garden and yourself. I enjoy your videos and get a lot of motivation and information from them. THANK YOU 💕
Thank you for the video, I am freaking out about one of my hydrangeas in a container that I want to overwinter. This really helped me! Also, non-garden related but I LOVE your hair!
Thank you for the information, much needed. Question, What would you do if your hydrangeas are still in the nursery cans? I picked up 15 at the end of season, 75% off sale. Such a great score, but I surely can’t afford pots for all of them. The plan is to put them in next spring in a new bed I’m planning.
Hi I love your videos I have one question I'm in zone 5 I have hydrangeas in pots in the temperature just dropped to the twenties should I bring them in the garage now.
Great question Ardrea Ruffin i live in Illinois i was thinking the same . We had freezing temperatures do i cover them now but we suppose to get back in the 60s next week im confused
Thank you for the helpful tips. I need to try to keep my potted hydrangeas alive. I got some this year and would be so sad if they don’t make it through the winter.
We’re in zone 7 too. We put our potted plants on our screened in back porch and put straw bales around them. This past winter was really cold so we stapled up plastic around them to keep out the wind. That worked really well.
Hi ove. That’s a goal I’m working on. To be more consistent. Just hard right now with infant twins and 2 toddlers. But thank you so much for the love and support 💜💜
Lots of great info and tips! I'm in Zone 8B Seattle area so I don't have to do much with my hydrangeas but I do have to move my terra cotta pots up onto my covered deck to protect them so they won't crack. Take care and stay safe!
Do you need to protect them all Winter long or only those days/nights go below 32 degree? I am zone 7b and don't have much space in the garage for permanent hiding. How about under a deck?
Hi! Thank you for the video! I got a potted hydrangea in late spring which has been growing well on my balcony. However, the fall is now here, I live in the hardiness zone 5 and in an apartment building with no unheated garage or basement. The only possible places to keep my plants at home are either the balcony, a storage space in the balcony (without any insulation so not much warmer probably) or inside of the apartment (which is quite warm). Would it be possible to overwinter it in any of these places?
Thank you so much for your awesome videos. I love them. I am also in love with Hydrangeas. I just planted a Little Quick Fire in a container. I am hoping to overwinter it, I am in zone 4b. Also planted a Fire Light and a Limelight in the landscape. Hoping for lots of beautiful flowers. I have an Incredibelle Spirit that wintered well. It is now in it's 3rd season so hoping for lots of blooms.
Straw might encourage mice, which might not be a problem if it's far from the house and you clean up in spring. It's just something you should be aware of. I bury my pots (with tulips) every year. I find it the easiest, because once they're in the ground, you don't have to think about them all winter.
Oh thank you for this! I have two new hydrangea trees in pots I have to figure out what to do with this winter. The last time I tried to over winter a limelight in a pot, I put it on the south side of my house but never thought to water it because I'm in zone 4 & we get so much snow. It barely survived the winter.
Good morning ! Im great! I was listening so hard to your care about the hydrangeas.. Girl,i had one bloom on one of my panicle hydrangea this year..lol.I was heartbroken 💔.. Question? I brought a Little Lime this year off the clearance( $5 ) i pulled all the dead leaves off it..It has not shown me any life .Its jyst the brown sticks..lol.Will it grow back on new wood next year? And ive been watering like my others..
Good morning, scratch a stem to see if there is any green under the bark, if so it’s still alive. No green? It’s dead. Panicle grow back on new wood. So try to scratch close to the base
After putting or dried leaves can you not cover them with burlap’s? Do you trim down the stems before winterizing them. What do you do with the blooms?
Hi Lenna, if you use leaves, that’s should be sufficient. You can use either leaves or burlap. Whatever you have. As for the blooms, I always leave the blooms for winter interest. I don’t recommend pruning hydrangeas in fall, unless you know for sure the kind you have. You don’t want to prune and cut off potential blooms. I always leave them be until spring when new growth starts to emerge . Then you can cut out anything that looks dead or diseased
Hi, I just tuned in this summer. I love your videos and how very down to earth you are. I also love hydrangeas and you inspire me! Your flowers are beautiful. Continue to be you, it's perfect.👌
Her name is Tah_Jay good morning, try copper fungicide. Leaf spot is commonly from excess moisture on the leaves, which turns into a fungus. They need proper airflow, keep the base of the plant clean. Also prune out any old or disease branches and give them adequate sunlight. Start spraying once the leaves emerge in spring and continue to spray once a month as a preventative. You can also use homemade options but from my experience, they don’t work as well. But feel free to google if you would like to try those.
Hi there. Such a timely and we'll presented topic! So, should I expect my endless summer Summer Crush to lose all their leaves over winter? I lucked up and picked up 5 of them for half off. I'm in zone 7. I'm planning to over winter them pushed up to the foundation of the house in their original blue containers.
Good morning Angela, yes your summer crush will lose all its leaves and might die back to the ground. Protect it as much as you can so it doesn’t die back to the ground. If you can add some leaves to help keep off frost off the branches, that would be perfect
@@GardenAddictz Perfect. Thanks so much for your quick response. Now I know what to expect and won't have a heart attack when I see a bunch of bare branches.
I’m in area 5 and I make a round cage like from chicken wire or even the plastic weather holders and need to fill up with leaves or straw or hay. Make sure soil is damp when you cover it up. I also got some weather bags that have like a flannel on the interior of the bag. This is my first time using this. I know the leaves or straw way does work well. I’ll see about my flannel after this winter. I approximately 35 hydrangea plants and I want to keep them. Thank you.
Jer 32:27 Lion of Judah I’m not sure of your zone. However, you can mulch your panicles as normal but for the big leaf hydrangeas, I would mulch the base and also much up around the plant with the chicken wire method I mentioned . Just to give it some extra protection to keep the buds alive for next season. Make sure you only mulch after the leaves has fallen
Good morning my beautiful friends!!!! I’ve missed you guys so much. Praying all
Is well with each and every single one of you. How are you doing?
Oh girl ,I literally bought over a dozen panicle hydrangeas thanks to you ,one of the varieties are “Silver Dollar “💚🌱💙

Hi! Thank you for the video. How do you determine when to take them back out in the Spring?
I have a pot that is 12” high and 12” wide I want to put Forever and ever and blue enchantment hydrangeas. Are pots going to be big enough?
I’m new to growing hydrangea. This video is so helpful. Thank you.

I group my pots together in southern location and I dont wrap . They come back

I have leaf spot and BT is not working. I will try neem oil. Is it because of the soil? Do I need to change the soil next year or ?

Hi Rita, Lowe’s or Home Depot
Can I put them in a unheated greenhouse?
Hi Amy, yes. Don’t forget to water throughout winter
