Triple-A Games I'm ASHAMED I Haven't Finished!

- Shame is a hell of a thing, isn't it? We've all felt shame in some way - whether we screwed something up at work or at home and owe someone an apology, or some perceived transgression from our past that lives rent free in our heads - shame is real.
And we deal with shame while gaming, too - primarily by not finishing games that we had every intention of working our way through. Here's my games of shame - and there's some big ones on this list. What games are you ashamed you've never beaten - or more appropriately, what games have you been shamed for by someone else for not finishing?

Oh, the outtakes. I make a conscious choice to keep things PG on this channel, but the outtakes...
Man, RDR 2 story is fantastic. I definitely felt it was boring my first time playing, and then I tried it again, and I can honestly say it is the only game to bring me to tears! I do understand why you haven't finished either one tho!
For the first half of this video... I also had not finished ANY of those games. But when you got to Red Dead and Uncharted, I could finally breathe a sigh of relief 😂
Haha did not expect the “Brilliant” shoutout 😂
BUT, funny enough, you and I share a lot of the same games on this video we haven’t beat yet! And yea , RDR/2 is very boring! You’re not alone in that! Great video!
If your qualm with the GoW franchise is the cold-heartedness of Kratos, then I think you'll actually really like the reboot if you give it a chance and see it through. Without spoiling too much, you get to really see him transform and grow as a character, and there are some really heartwarming moments that genuinely brought a tear to my eye, especially being able to relate as a dad.
Good, I'm not the only one who starts a game, enjoys it, and might not beat it. 😅😅
John Riggs once said (or something along these lines) don't feel bad about not beating a game. There's so many out there that sometimes you just don't get back around to it. Just enjoy what you have played.
Sonic Adventure needs to be on your short list, absolute gem.
Oh man buddy. You say Little Nemo and you KNOW I'm there! Definitely one you should finish - watch out for that final stage difficulty spike though!
Sonic Adventure is super janky, but no joke, the final boss battle is in my Top 10 of all time. It's a commitment to get there since you have to beat all six character arcs to unlock it, but very worth it IMO. The only other Sonic game that can match it is the boss fights in Sonic Frontiers, but in terms of atmosphere, Sonic Adventure still wins.
Also, last thing, but I did the exact same thing with TOTK. I'm probably 2 hours from finishing it, and I haven't been able to motivate myself to do it.
Great topic for a video man! I enjoyed it!
Thank you sir! Nemo is on the list to beat - I'm thinking I'll bring one of my handheld emulators on my flight to Seattle in November and use that time to play uninterrupted. :)
I started RDR2 and after the 2 hours of cutscenes and slowly walking through the snow to start the game, I quit and haven't gone back to it. My first experience with any RDR game was actually Red Dead Online, and I loved it, probably because there's little story and very few cutscenes.
You know how much of a Halo fan I am...yet I never finish the games when they come out. For some reason I play 95% of the campaign and then just do multiplayer forever. Once the next game is about to come out, I'll finish the last 5% of the game I'm playing. Its almost like I have some weird fear of ending my favorite franchise ever lol
I totally get that!
Super Monkey Ball 2 is a great example of a game I absolutely adore and haven't beaten lol I've erased my save file and started over like, 30 times!
I just recently replayed Ocarina of Time on my N64 with my daughter watching the whole time. I really enjoyed it this time around, but the controls just felt wonky since playing BotW or TotK. I got back into the swing of things eventually, and I had flash backs to when I was in high school.
As for Red Dead I and II, I watched the stories on UA-cam, and enjoyed the heck out of it. I saved a lot of time that way, though. (I know people will hate me for saying that.)
The Happy Console Gamer had a fantastic video on Tears of the Kingdom, because I feel like many of us old school Zelda fans had the same issue. It seemed overwhelming, and many of us didn't like the gameplay...until it clicked. Once it did, I couldn't put the controller down. Hopefully it will click for you someday, because it was a great experience.
Until this year I never took the time to push beyond the Temple of Time in Ocarina of Time. So I made it a goal to get through the game and really enjoyed my time with it. Now, I will add that I played it on stream so part of my enjoyment was that I played through it with a group of friends
Maybe that's what's actually stopping us from getting through games. Perhaps we are meant to pay through games together. Even a single player epic is more enjoyable when you're spending time with a friend, working through puzzles and laughing at mistakes made along the way.
I know you said you have a hard time liking Rockstar, which I understand. I have a hard time getting into RDR2, but have you ever tried Bully? I love that one!
Bully is a horse of a different color, indeed. It felt self contained and focused - I really, really love the Scholarship Edition release. :) I hope we get a remaster or sequel one day!
Since you have RDR GOTY Edition, I suggest giving the expansion Undead Nightmare a try. It's like 8 hours long and more streamlined than RDR, and is cheesy zombie killing fun. After I played it I eased into RDR no problem and loved it. I still haven't started RDR2 though.
Same thoughts with Rockstar games, the only ones I liked GTA 3 and Midnight club
Somehow I knew the last one would be on this list. It’s on many people’s lists.
Uncharted 2 is one of my all-time favorites, but I totally agree about the final boss fight. I know I have beaten the game numerous times but I use a guide for some of the puzzles and struggle with the final fight no matter what difficulty level I play on. I used to be Nintendo focused and definitely shifted to be a Sony fanboy but I nodded in agreement with many of your PS4 titles. I wanted to love BOTW and TOTK but just get bored during play sessions and felt frustrated at my lack of success. I guess when it comes down to it, I enjoy short gaming bursts and don't have the patience for extended gaming sessions anymore. Two games I always go back to are Yar's Recharged (my 2022 GOTY) and Rogue Aces (I play the Vita version). Really enjoyed this video and I feel better that I have so many bangers stuck in my backlog too.
I haven't beat Sonic Adventure either. 20+ years I'll get to it tomorrow. lol
I haven't beat either Zelda game for the N64, Sonic 1 or 2 for SMS, Phantasy Star 2(rage quit from random battles), Nights on the Saturn, and Gauntlet Legends on the DC to name a few.
Great video! It’s weird because I beat RDR 1 and loved it.. but I got bored so fast with RDR2.. crazy smh
I am like a cat, I feel no shame! Honestly it'd be easier for me to list the games I have beaten than haven't, the list is that short.
WHEN YOU SAID BATMAN, I WAS LIKE WOW...I feel that the guide was in GamePro? For me, open world Rockstar games stop with San Andreas, I just don't have the time or patience, lolz. And YUP, played the crap outta God of War...never beat smh.
Pfft... Make no mistake, Mario is no hero either... Look at his personal crusade to genocide all turtles in the Mushroom Kingdom. 😂
THOSE TURTLES KNOW WHAT THEY DID. 😂
My biggest gaming shames in never finishing Dragon Age 3 and Mass Effect 3. Love both series. Played the previous games in both series multiple times. Life got in the way and I have never been able to find enough time to devote to them. Most games I play now are handheld where I can play a single level at a time.
Mass Effect 3, the entire game is really the ending. Dragon Age Inquisition, though? It doesn't really start being good until the last several hours... About 70 hours in!!
@@CatalystOfFire I was probably about 40 hours into each game before I had to stop playing.
@@ColdSteelKid that means you were almost done with Mass Effect 3, and almost out of the first level in Inquisition lol
It's gotta be Uncharted 3 for me. Nothing wrong with the game, but I think my problem was, I played the first one and then the 2nd one to completion back to back, THEN rolled into the 3rd. I was just burnt out at that point. Never went back...
I love Little Nemo, haven't beaten it either but it's super fun. Ninja Gaiden can just die already. The joker is stupid hard, like unnecessarily so. Ocarina is a pain on the N64, I didn't beat it until on the 3DS because the quality of life improvements are sooo nice. And how DARE you, the DS Zelda games are awesome! I have never beaten Sonic Adventure either. I feel the same way about RDR! I've always wanted to beat it but who the hell has the time lol. Have beaten every Uncharted except Golden Abyss on Vita. Need to beat that one...OMFG the God of War duology are MASTERPIECES. Ask yourself this..do you like Venom? Kratos is the anti-hero like Venom. GHOST OF Tsushima is literally the first game I ever got the Platinum more. It's so damn good! The Horizon franchise is probably my favorite of all time on console. OMG ITS SOOOO DAMN GOOD. Agreed, TOTK is just too damn big.
I do not like Venom. :P
@@SquarePegs well. Fine then. Be like that lol
The only AAA I enjoy is the Mexican Wrestling Promotion
Héroes del Ring! :D
The new god of war series is my 2nd favorite game story of all time. Kratos struggles with who he used to be in the old series and where he is as a father by the end of ragnarok I felt to be incredibly compelling. That being said I was actively repelled by it the 1st time I played. I wish it had a better opening.
Also persona 5 is my shameful unfinished game. Started about 5 different times over the years and always fall off. The characters just aren't as interesting to me as Persona 4.
I just can't get past my revulsion of Kratos as a character, and that's on me for not being able to see his growth, I think. I'm going to have to look past it eventually, but for now it's a roadblock.
The game that really inspired this video - that I didn't mention because I didn't have it physically - is Baldur's Gate 3. I've started and restarted that game so many times.
Don't get me wrong, Kratos doesn't end up saving cats out of trees by the end. He's still a cranky old man, but I wouldn't trade my time with the series for anything. And I totally get being repulsed, though.
Baldurs Gate 3 I get. Not my thing at all, and with how many gigs that game is, I'm not wasting hard drive space to hope it clicks one day.
Intense shame not beating a game is intense. Batman is damn easy, just milk the spawning enemies they give you health. Joker tou punch him the face fast and he dies so fast. It's the last NES fame l beat legit without emulation.
I couldn’t beat GTA3, 4 or San Andreas. I completed Vice City though. I could never beat the hidden boss in Illusion of Gaia. I could never beat Ninja Gaiden or Battletoads. That’s about it.
Memories unlocked. Skate or Die, Snake Rattle and Roll, Solstice, Super Mariokart, A Boy and His Blob. Yeah, forgot about all those NES titles.
I am absolutely shocked by uncharted 2 but then again it was so long ago that I played it. I can't really remember the last boss.
I've simply avoided rdr2 because of how long it is and I was afraid to get into a game with that amount of time sink but I'll never say never.
Shook by the God of War info. I loved playing as the pseudo bad guy 😂😂😂 What does that say about me as a person? I don't know 😅😂
Play the Bluepoint version of Uncharted 2! problem solved
I’ll have to disagree with one thing. You aren’t “picking on” Sony here. Any game studio/publisher is grateful for the people who buy their games, even if they don’t complete them.
But it's Red Dead Redemption 😮 I get RDR2. It's beautiful but quite a slog. Nooo, not Uncharted 2! It's the best!! You will get the last boss, trust me. It threw me for a loop the first time I played, but the method is there, trust me.
I didn't click with GoW. I'll let you have that one 😂
Ghost of Tshushima is just peak video gaming. If nothing else, get that done.
And HZD!!! You're killing me here 😭😭😭
Yeah, I can't seem to click with BotW, so I haven't looked at TotK. Maybe one day 🤷♂️
I own all three of the insomniac Spiderman games and i haven't played a second of any of them. 😳 I also can't stand any of the Halo games. Story is so boring in them.
Lol last boss fight in Uncharted is terrible, so it's not just you. Run in circles pretty much and jump and turn and shoot. Very bad fight.
your boring
Probably true, probably true. But at least I know the difference between your and you're.
@allenantonino4389
And you are so much fun ?
I think this channel is pretty good actually.
Hey, thanks Jonny! Appreciate you being here. :)
