Once you've gotten rid of all of the first set of enemy vehicles, fly east on the map (flying right on the map) until you see the supply ships on the mass driver rail as you see in this guide. Once there, you should line yourself up with the supply ships and the rail at your jet's cruising speed (no boost or breaks, for me it was at 600 on the speed-o-meter, however a slower speed like 500 might work). Once lined up, you can fly just a bit over the supply ships safely. Once you're over them, lower yourself gently towards the rail at your jet's standard speed. Now comes the trickiest part: You need to keep the "Caution: Pull Up" warning going on as long as possible. You need to do tiny adjustments as you go. Not far up, very little down, and ideally you shouldn't need yaw to keep straight n' steady. You should fly straight as possible for most of the run. Just very gently tap down on the left stick and tilt the jet upward once you see the slope and level with it. As you get close to the end, you need increase your upward adjustment a bit more and more frequently, while still in the warning state. Once you get close to the barrier at the end, you can lift off, and proceed with the rest of your mission. *Note 2: You can deviate a little, you can have a very tiny moment or 2 of the warning not being in effect. Don't stray away for long tho, keep it as long as possible from start to finish. It doesn't have to be perfect, just as close to perfect as you possibly can. Just keep up the warning as long as possible till you lift off at the end and do your best. You'll get better with each attempt. Once you lift off from the end of the rail (without touching it and getting damaged or outright crashing), From there, DON'T WORRY ABOUT POINTS! There is no score you need to reach. You can be as low or as high as you want. You just need to stick to the rail as closely as possible from start to finish without going too far up or crashing, keeping up the pull up warning almost the entire time. You don't need to worry about points at all. Just do what you can in the meantime until the bombers arrive. Be sure to have your radar fully opened to the map and be ready for the bombers when they appear. They always spawn from the Southeast. When he does, shoot this playing-hard-to-get, elusive sonnuvabitch out of the sky, then quickly take out the bombers. Once Mantis is down along with the bombers, make sure you DON'T RESTART under any circumstances. Most missions will let you keep the skin after you pass a checkpoint that happens after you shoot down the ace and you restart from there, but this mission might not be one of 'em. Don't take any chances up to this point. You don't want to risk having to start over with the flight over the Mass Driver Rail again at this point. With Mantis down along with the bombers, you just need to do a perfect run of everything else without being shot down or failing to do everything in time. 1. Take out all enemies marked as TGTs. 2. Once all TGT enemies are down, save The Scrap Queen and Princess Cossette from all TGT marked ground vehicles within the time limit (thank God the enemies are already ID'd, and having a ground based special weapon like homing missiles or homing bombs will save you from cutting it close or outright failing). 3.Then once Scrap Queen and Cossette are safe, the Erusean supply ships for the Arsenal Bird will take off. Get after them and shoot them down before they get away. Having a fast jet with a high speed of over 3,000, fast acceleration, and longer lock-on range high speed missiles will make chasing them Possible, let alone easier. Once you get after them, avoid the missiles from UAVs and other fighters, and try to avoid flying through the clouds for too long to reduce the risk of you being struck by lightning (you'll usually get struck at least once when you fly after the 2nd supply ship after destroying the 1st, BUT DON'T GIVE UP, you'll recover just fast enough to get the 2nd one. Just keep accelerating until you get into missile range and shoot the damn thing down). Having the Predictive Lock-On Algorithm should help you get easier lock-on shots when through the clouds. Once you take out both supply ships, and you've taken out Mantis after this whole ordeal of a mission, the mission will be be complete, and this awesome F-35 Lightningbolt skin will be yours. Hey, good video, but i have something to say. I play on normal difficulty and with the Standard controlls for an Arcade feeling. I had 6450 points, then i‘ve flown over the mass driver. With 6500 points then the Tu-160 bomber wave appeared, but Mantis still spawned. I don‘t think that you need 10.000 points, but that is just better for us. But the guides are fantastic!
I dont know if its a glitch or something, but I got a score of 3370 and mantis spawned and then i did it with around 6k again and mantis spawned again. (I flew close to the mass driver, obviously)
After you destroy the first ground force... Immediately go to the Rail, and make sure that Caution pull up warning stay until you near the end of the rail. And then just play the game as normal the point don't matter, and then when the bombers arrive.. immediately identify the target first. I found mantis at the end middle of bombers fleet
I kill it 2 times but fail in the mission but in the 3rd attempt happy days I got it, so beautiful I love it 🤩 thank for showing how to get it u get a new subscribe 👍
Well done and on my 2 attempts 1 F-35C & 2 Mig-31 whenever I try to fly low on the mass driver rails I suddenly bounce up do I need to reduce my air speed to 600 km/h 370 mph in order to summon Mantis
EpicThe112 yeah I had that too, I reduced my speed to as slow as it could be and just tried my best. I think it’s because the rail arks upwards and we’re flying straight then we’re actually going straight for a collision, you can see at the end I began to lose control and I’m not sure about the speed to spawn him in but still, just to be safe go as slow as you can
@@PrettyTAF just did that but the hard part is that his escort planes will destroy you quickly this is what happened to me on my Ace hunting run using a MIG 31 with pulse lasers. Is it possible to do the mission by using multi lock air-to-air missiles to destroy the ace?
EpicThe112 you can destroy the ace using whatever aircraft you want and whatever special weapon you wish? So long as it has a air to air capability then it’s easy, I just used the standard missiles, And the 8AGM for the ground attack, Try using a SASM, QAAMs, the air to air quick fast missiles, legit like as I did it, Just dodge the missiles, Use the flares, dodge and so on, Keep trying for it
Is there any actual merit in saying that destroying too many unknown targets will interfere with Mantis's spawn? Has this been tried and testied? What about that luck required to have Mantis spawn in? 10,000 points isnt even required. All these facts and more are required in order to effectively spawn in Mantis.
when you kill an unknown target they give 0 points, only by identifying them will you be able to get points which will go towards the point criteria for unlocking the ace. So destroying unknown targets is generally a bad idea because your not maximizing the amount of points to go towards mantis spawning, does that make sense? also I've noticed people saying in some of my videos that the criteria is wrong/different, but these videos are over a year old, my theory is the developers might have tweaked some of the criteria for unlocking the aces. but everything I say in my videos is true, tried and tested as accurate as I could make them be.
I dont think the pull up alarm has to always be on. Cuz i just did it yesterday. Had a score over 10,000 then i flew over the rail once the group appeared
Another halmade one. You don't know that did it until the bombers spawn but the bombers will drop the bombs until you find it (if it's actually there).
Thanks for the video, but after trying for hours to fly down the rail, then get the points only to deal with my game not loading the targeting data until I was flying right over the target forcing me to backtrack...this is the first and last time I will ever buy an Ace Combat game and I won't bother with any of the other Ace challenges. Edit: and yes I did get the skin thanks to your vid. But all the issues I had with this on skin means I don't need the headache of doing it for every other ace skin.
I have been trying to get Mantis to spawn for about a week now, I have gotten the point requirement but have forgotten to fly along the mass driver, I am on PlayStation btw, this skin is the coolest thing I've seen, but what aircraft should I use, I don't have the wyvern yet but I have been using f-35 and f-15c a lot on this mission, can anyone help me figure this cool boi out???
Well since its a ground attack mission. I might recommend the F35 with 8AGM. Alternatively. The F22 raptor with 4 AGM missiles since its also good at taking out aircraft as well as attacking ground targets, plus its manoeuvrability should give you an edge over MANTIS when you make him spawn. Thats my personal recommendation :)
@@PrettyTAF I have been using 8AGM's like crazy, I'm doing the mission rn even but I'm only getting like 6k-7k points, is there any specific targets I should take out first or move to first?
The flow of the missionnfor me was to take out the first bunch of targets, then move to the base by the rail cannon, wipe them out and then move onto the airfield in the distance. That's how I always played the mission, remember not to destroy any targets you haven't identified, always identify them or you'll yield no points. I guess the secret to the mission is finding your flow and speed. Knowing what's coming and quickly identifying them is all I could say im afraid, it may take a few times but once its done you never have to do it again lol
@@PrettyTAF OMG I got the score requirement within the last 4 seconds but Mantis didn't spawn, I don't think I flew close enough to the mass driver, oof, but thanks for the advise, I will hopefully get him this next try!

I think the most difficult part of this game is flying the planes on expert for PlayStation for its extremely awkward. I am assuming it’s a lot easier for PC because you make it look easy and a lot of other gamers make it look easy, but even with practice for me when I fly on expert it’s awkward as fuck, it’s just too hard to fly with my middle finger in break with my middle finger and then use my index fingers to turn left and right whatever that is it’s fine on easier missions but on more difficult missions you end up spending half the game trying to course correct rather than just flying After enemies or objectives are
this annoying identification shit takes so looong. you see them, they shoot at you and sometimes you almost fly through them and still they do not show up as enemy... I hate this mission, all other aces took me maximum 3 attemts. but this one is stupid... also for how long or what distance do you have to fly along the rail?
For me, the identification process was not that hard. I think you can identify them quicker if you aim your reticle at them, but im probably wrong. To fly over the mass driver, first line up with the driver, then fly over the drone/carrier/resuppling things. The pull up warning should not have to show on this step. Then, when you pass the drones, dip down so that it says pull up. Then , fly along the rest of the driver. Try to do this on the first try, so you dont waste time. If you accidentally break off, you can do it again, but i recomend to restart from the check point. Try to maintain a speed of 600 kpm. Also , for the point gathering, go to the west side of tyler island and there should be drone lauching trucks worth 350 , jets worth 700 points, (su-something i forgot) and mq-99 drones. Try and do your best, as I got 3370 points and some how got mantis when the bombers came in. Hope this helps!

At this point I immediately go to your videos first, the wiki is pretty garbage from what I can tell, it'll often be completely wrong about time requirements or in this case completely leave out huge details like you needing 10,000 points to get this skin

You are such a legend and a life saver for making and posting these tutorial videos on finding the aces.
Glad they're still being used many years later. My pleasure
Thanks, didn't see anything about the points being scored, I was going nuts.
Your welcome
Ohh, this was the most difficult skin to get. And you never know when the bomber fleet spawn in.
You can keep looking on the map and kind of tell when they’re inbound. I’m replaying this game because I love it! And that’s what I used, You see them flying in before the AWACS calls it on the radio :)
I've tried twice now and am always 50 pts sort before the bombers show up... going to be coming back to this one later on to the next skin...
Take out the suburbs then mass rail then boats then head an attack the airfield last and while attacking the airfield the bomber fleet will spawn
This mission for me is the most cumbersome and I like the least, even so it is worth crushing it for the livery of the f35
But the guides are fantastic!
i wonder if thiat will happen on ace difficulty
I dont know if its a glitch or something, but I got a score of 3370 and mantis spawned and then i did it with around 6k again and mantis spawned again. (I flew close to the mass driver, obviously)
After you destroy the first ground force... Immediately go to the Rail, and make sure that Caution pull up warning stay until you near the end of the rail. And then just play the game as normal the point don't matter, and then when the bombers arrive.. immediately identify the target first. I found mantis at the end middle of bombers fleet
Someone really need to update the description on Acepedia. you don't really need the 10000 point
After so many nightmares...I finally shot down this damned ace
Good
You need a sharp eye in order to find this bc their “unknown”
Apparently you don't have to score 10K points. I got just over 9K and accidentally stumbled upon him during the bomber wave
Sweet, easier for you to get him to spawn then :)
You're such an ace. I just couldn't play with this Typhoon! He's terrible.
Love the Typhoon
You should do a tier maker of the hardest aces to get, top tier would probably be missile silo and the canyon run, as well as this one
Oddly enough i've been considerinf doinf a rating style video as of recent. It may come to fruition
btw TAF, I owe your videos many thanks, I was able to get the lighthouse aces and others thanks to you,
Glad to be of help. I hope you enjoy ace combat as much as I did :)
I had 6000 when it said "Multiple bogies at the east" and had 7000 when I was identifying them and still found mantis
This is the most annoying one to unlock, but god is it worth it.
its so beautiful isn't it. Look so badass
@Pretty TAF Yeah, it’s my second favourite skin in the entire game.
Tried many times and finally got it.. thanks you Taf..
Thank you for this playlist. Mantis was my last ace and I just completed!!
I suspect pre-programmed incentives for selecting modest, 4th generation (underdog). After many attempts, the F-15J finally brought- em-out.
So long as it has a air to air capability then it’s easy, I just used the standard missiles, And the 8AGM for the ground attack, Try using a SASM, QAAMs, the air to air quick fast missiles, legit like as I did it, Just dodge the missiles, Use the flares, dodge and so on, Keep trying for it
thanks so much had no clue about the point req. and got it first try after learning that
Btw you dont need the 10k points to make mantis spawn, but you cant let the altitude warning go away at any time during the launch run
Nice, yes. Simple, no. My skills haven't gotten there yet for this skin...still hunting the easier ones haha. Awesome skin tho, can't wait😎
It is always my favorite skin
I dont think the pull up alarm has to always be on. Cuz i just did it yesterday. Had a score over 10,000 then i flew over the rail once the group appeared
how on earth did you score 10000 before the bomber wave? i can't even get halfway. these ace requirements are utter bullshit
By practicing and knowing what targets to identify and what order to destroy them in. Gotta get familiar with the mission to really thrash It
10000 points isn’t necessary
Yeah
Just confirmed this myself. Simply make sure to identify all the fighters around the bombers, there are a lot.
@@butttbiter can you still get Mantis if it hasn't been identified when shot down?
Yeah, I flew down the rail at the beginning and then only had 7k by the time the bombers spawned.
I stg 10,000 points before the bombers is impossible 7,500 is the best I can do, I've tried for like 4hrs so far and this is the only ace I don't have
Weird? Were you on hard? Ace? First Playthrough? Second Playthrough? Did you flow as close as you could to the Mass rail?
where is the onboard self defense jammer? i can't find it in the aircraft tree.
To be honest. I csnt remember. I would check but my faithful xbox is now dead
Another halmade one. You don't know that did it until the bombers spawn but the bombers will drop the bombs until you find it (if it's actually there).
Nice guy!! :)
Oh yeah!
Its my first ace combat game and I'd gladly buy another. Admittedly the game is abit buggy like that at times and that skin was a nightmare.
@@PrettyTAF OMG I got the score requirement within the last 4 seconds but Mantis didn't spawn, I don't think I flew close enough to the mass driver, oof, but thanks for the advise, I will hopefully get him this next try!
ouch, Unlucky, you can get him, Let me know when you do so we can celebrate together! XD
Didn't kill anyone until the bomber part just did the fly close to lunch pad and kept it below 200 On alt
Winner right there then, Nice and easy
@@PrettyTAF gotta give it to you though 10k before the bomber escorts is a very nice challenge. So after I got the skin I tryed the fly by. And only got 9750.
Perfect mass flight.
Score of 12k before bombers.
Mantis did not spawn.
I swear to God that I am done with the game now.
I have tried this same dam mission more times than all the other mission in the game combined but the ace just never spawns
Mantis always was a nightmare to spawn in
Did you have your difficulty on easy? because enemy aces only spawn of a difficulty of normal or above
@@alecpetrie8744 He also has to have completed the campaign once prior to aces being unlockable. People sometimes try get them on their first playthrough then have a fit at me when they don't spawn in.
Pretty TAF I’m not sure if you have to tbh, I started going back for the aces at mission 15(before beating the game) and I was able to get every single one. I think I even got Jester on my first playthrough of mission 2.
@@alecpetrie8744 I had it on hard.
This ace is such a massive pain
Just did the mission 3 times in a row and he refuses to spawn
Can you still get the skin if you die after the checkpoint?
I’m not sure
If the checkpoint occurs after you've shot down the ace then you should still have it
so is this a thing we can do before the bombers or is it ONLY a trigger when we hit the bombers...?
I think the bombers spawning in is when mantis spawns in so that's all you can do before that. So mantis spawn triggers when the bombers fly in
I have a question, does this have to be done in a certain dificulty?
Hard or above I think, but you have to have completed the campaign once already, and you get the aces on the replay through
@@PrettyTAF ooooooh, ive seen people unlock the aces in normal, so maybe is not the difficulty, but I haven't finished the campaign
So far I’ve killed every ace successfully to this point on a regular play through. In fact, I’m doing “free missions” on regular. I have beaten the campaign on normal already if that matters for ace spawns. I don’t think it does though because I found two of the aces in my first normal play through on accident.
Im doing everything EXACTLY Correctly but he just wont just im getting over 10k flying along the trail do i need to identify all targets over the what or what
This one had me pulling my hair out. Update: OOOOOOOOH I was smoking all the yellow targets from memory 😭
Just cant score it aah. Always at like 6k
I am having a difficulty finding this ace. Are you sure you have to also score 10k points?
Some guys in the comments said only 7k are needed
Had better luck using the su 30 M2 with 4AGM, and mantis actually spawned. I shot him down but the run turned to a shit show with the bombers and I failed. I don't know how I resisted pulverizing the wall until both my hands were broken.
Brilliant. I would not advise putting your fist through a wall. I have been there. I have done that, you will get some nice scars XD
@@PrettyTAF Finally got revenge on this SOB and his skin is mine. If anyone else is having a hard time, try the su 30 M2 with 4AGM.
Can he just not spawn? Even if you do the steps?
Did I have to kill the targets at the beginning of the Mission before flying above the Mass driver? Because Mantis didn't Show Up, after i Flight above the masssdriver without Interrupt the altitude warning before i kill the First targets.
I did this so many times
Im pretty sure it doesnt matter what order you did it in
Is the 10k part necessary?
probably, May have changed in 4 years but its what it seemed like to me, better safe than sorry
@@PrettyTAF I ended up getting it and I think I didn't need it. I'm playing released version so idk
Can it be on normal
Yeah. I Thought it was ace difficulty only, but its not apparently, so normal should do it but be sure to have completed the campaign as leadt once already
Can be get skin on normal?
This is the most annoying mission in the entire game for ace hunting because it takes 50 bloody years just to I’d one stupid frickin target
8AGM are Bombs
Got the damn thing the ace wouldn't spawn for me on normal or hard he spawned right on my ass shooting at me so I hit the brakes and shot behind him and then I shot his ass down the I took the bombers I hit the mass driver after I hit 6500 almost 7000 points then he spawned on ......ace mode......only good luck guys ....
There’s nothing on the ground, in the air or on the water that identified and available to shoot worth half of the 10,000 points needed in time. Rather than show us you had 10 thousand points it would be more helpful to show us HOW you got 10 thousand points.
At this point I immediately go to your videos first, the wiki is pretty garbage from what I can tell, it'll often be completely wrong about time requirements or in this case completely leave out huge details like you needing 10,000 points to get this skin
Im glad you do :) thanks, glad your finding them useful
100% you do not need 10k
That's a win then, Even easier, what score did you get before MANTIS Showed?
@@PrettyTAF Was at 7kish I think
The trick to making it a lot easier is to switch to easy-mode flight controls right before you get over the supply ships, then you don't have to worry about rolling or yawing messing up your straight flight down the ramp
I've launched the last two missiles for the last supply ship that should've smacked it but ran out of time. My hands are shaking. I'm not sure if I can manage to attempt this challenge once more. Amongst all my failed attempts this one is the most cinematicly dramatic.
