I got to record a vocal session of her for the song "Tired of Being Blond" and she sure lived up to exactly what she says here... "There is something treasurable about everybody". She was genuinely warm and a pleasure to be around.
I totally Love This woman , ever since I was a Little boy , I have Loved the Music of Carley Simon ,,,every thing she has ever did ,,, Her songs stand out in my mind and now I am 62 years old and her music is as beautiful as it was when I first heard it its timeless ,,, she is so high classed ,..and gentel at the same time .
Carly’s heart is in a box with her thoughts and disappointments of a life driven by talent and thirst for achievement! I enjoy her voice and the songs from the box!
Carly was blessed to have a mother like that in her life. Her mother's love couldn't fill the hole her father left, to be sure. Yet, her mother was so attentive where it counted. Those little tricks like "Pass the butter" come from a mind often orbiting whatever it took to make her children grow strong and loved.
Beautiful woman, beautiful voice. So graceful. One of the top vocalist and song writers of my time. Her voice is up there either the likes of Karen Carpenter. An Angel.
I've had a speech impediment where I get stuck on words, specifically hard consonants, since childhood and one thing I used to do is stamp my foot to get the word out. My parents hated that and accused me of "inventing" that method much to my chagrin. It's similar however to your mother's advice. And, yes, people also urged me to "sing my words" as that as we know is also a common trick.
Mick Jagger sang the harmony vocals on “You’re So Vain”, but the back up vocals were done by the same backup singers who sang on “The Right Thing to Do” - Carly Simon who of course also sang lead, then there was Vicki Brown and Liza Strike - if I’m not mistaken.
I’ve always gotten tongue tied. Teachers tried to help me with it, didn’t help. When I met my husband in 1980, he looked at me one day and said “clutch“, that was the trick. The tricks teachers were trying to help me were like putting a runner in runners blocks, it was making my tongue tense. Thinking the word clutch relaxed my tongue, and it’s worked for over 40 years.
They have been divorced for 41 years. That’s a long time to be carrying a torch for someone who seems to hate you now. I love Carly and her music. I wish her another love like that before she dies. She deserves better.
Carly longs for unrequited male approval to maintain her personae of “lovable victim”. It’s a common attractive-rejected cycle found in narcissists which permeates her music.
@@user-zq4fv8sj6v her music catalog is not permeated with narcissism. If you are basing this on “You’re So Vain”, you absolutely don’t understand it. She doesn’t portray herself as a “ lovable victim”. Have you read her books? Do you actually know anything about her?
@@Rachel299 As I observed over the decades, Carly is a narcissist who desperately needs male approval. She’s STILL begging for James Taylor’s love after never getting her father’s.

A born story-teller and musician. Hope Carly writes more books about anything, her intellect & wisdom are TREASURABLE. She is a Treasure.
Love both Carly and Dan Rather's interviews.
I still sing this song today! Amazing!

I really hope that folks that suffer from a stutter happen across this.
What a wonderful and practical technique.
I love her with all my heart!!! She's awesome!!!
I remember my brother playing her songs in his room in the 70s. Wow wonderful times.
She comes across as warm and utterly unpretentious, someone you could easily sit down and talk to.
Thank you, Dan and Carly!
JO JO IN VT 💞
How awesome to see Dan, a true legendary professional author and reporter! So honest filled with love and compassionate talk with Carly!✌🏽💙
Dan's 93 and still going strong doing his podcast. Impressive. We should all be so lucky!
Carly is not only amazingly talented. She is also very wise............

I just heard this song on the radio yesterday, a classic ❤ ... as I was trying to sing along very tone deafly in my car 😅
This surely can't be 6 months ago ?! She's 81 and Dan Rather is 92 both look far younger !!
Talented, thoughtful and so beautiful inside and out.
Beautiful Lady that made great music.
I just love her music
It’s not always love now, it’s loving what was, it’s what you thought it was.

Carly still amazing
Glad Carly made the rock n' rolll hall of fame.
I read that she didn’t attend the ceremony because she had recently lost her older sisters.
Her biography was very interesting, she’s lived quite a life.
That's the shortest "Big Interview" on the planet.
How old is this clip?
Old repeat
If there's ever an eclipse hitting East Canada, I'll be sure to go to Nova Scotia to see it, LOL

Spreading conjecture as fact is unwise.
Is there more to this interview than this 6 minutes? Does anyone know? It seems like there is more of it..

Warren Beatty? Heard it was Mick Jagger
No, Mick sang back up on this song, though.
Neither one was a good catch!
we all knew it was warren beatty back then.

the female Steven Tyler
You're So Vain is a great song. Very well written. But I always thought of Carly Simon as a wannabe Carole King.
What has she done to her nose? It looks odd! Shame as she was a very attractive lady.
I think she is 80 never noticed her nose because her mouth is so big but she is beautiful
Her mouth is too big with weird teeth.Seems to work for her.
She has an interesting Face that radiates warmth.
