why shame? What if during all the times Star Wars was playing, they were doing something else, and finally got into Star Wars now? good for them for expanding their interest at their age
Imagine if you were a fan between 1977 and 1980 that theorized Darth Vader being Luke's father. Now imagine you being in theaters during this very scene with the theory in mind.
MegaTroll Lol. Long Story short. Ok. In Star Wars Episode 3. When Anakin was rejected by the Alliance. Got persuaded to the Empire. Turn to Darth Vader. Which Shocked his Wife Pad.me Amadela. She gave birth. 2 kids. Luke & Leia. In order for the Empire not to know. Luke & Leia were seperated as infants. Luke never knew his real Father till Episode 5. The rest. I won.t bore you to much.
I was there! It was AMAZING! Side note: there's a Simpson's episode where Homer is remembering his first date with Marge and they are walking out of The Empire Strikes Back by a HUGE line of people waiting to go in and casually says to Marge, "Gee, who would have guessed that Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker's father?" Of course the whole line groans and curses at him. You see, back in the pre-internet days it was actually possible to keep a thing like this _relatively_ a secret. Nowadays, no way.
I find the lack of understanding the cheer of the audience ... disturbing. I mean, let them clap if they want you. These people love these movies and they can express their joy by doing whatever the fuck they want to. It was celebration day after all. Never heard a silent celebration. I watched "John Rambo" and "Expendables 2" in the theatres, while the whole crowd went nuts in some scenes. It's a great experience and it makes you feel that movies makes people come together. It's like a happening at times. Try that out for yourselfs or don't, but don't judge people whom are expressing their emotions in a way that you can't or think that it isn't "normal". It makes you look sad and bitter.
To everyone confused as to why you’d clap for this part, go home. This is one of the biggest twists in all of storytelling. Obviously they clapped because they KNOW how epic this line is, not because they didn’t see the twist coming. Besides, if you didn’t see the twist coming and you were surprised, you wouldn’t cheer, you’d gasp and be in shock.
Very little people think he said Luke, I am your father. As a little kid people at school went around saying that but I just knew that wouldn't fit. Luke: He said you killed him Vadar: Luke, I am your father That's why it can't fit and very very very little people remember it that way.
haha, I thought you were joking. They didn't record the reaction of the audience back then. (I don't think, I probably would have seen it). It's fine though, all cool dude. I misunderstood your comment for a joke, my bad haha
I thought that, as a joke, everyone would say stuff like "woah" and "what the hell" like they'd never seen it before. You disappoint me, Star Wars fans.
How derp are the people in this comment section? It's a Star Wars celebration. They're all die hard fans. They're not clapping out of surprise, but because it's the most iconic moment in Star Wars franchise.
I saw an original copy of the audience reaction. They were in stunned silence. It's a great video on yt its actually genuine from 1980. Lucas actually got the right laughs too. The biggest laughter was han telling chewy " laugh it up fuzzball" of course the I know also got laughs. But the fuzzball line got the biggest laughs.
Clark Donnelly yeah, it's a lot of info. If you're interested their are some good videos here on UA-cam. Also there are two kinds of people those effected by it and those who always been here and don't see the things we see changing.
Vader: I am your father.
Luke: no

No one saw this coming in 1980!
Thanks Captain Pedantic. :)
I can't tell if you actually believe the movie came out in 1981
hellsong23 Oh Jesus. 1980?
Hold tf on...This movie came out in 1980, right?
hellsong23 why was the show "that 70s show" always using the star wars reference if the movie came out in 1980?
I was hoping the audience would yell "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"
weird4productions well that was 1980 man
weird4productions debs lol
When I went to the premiere of the movie in 1980 everyone gasped
Seems odd to clap at that moment...
I mean, this was a very, very dark and twisted moment. That audience is full of maniacs!
But they know what is!
JackTheBaker it's an iconic scene
Howdy TLOU fellow.
JackTheBaker They already know he's his father.
JackTheBaker it's iconic
This shows this ground breaking line still breaks the records in theater audiences . And will be remembered as one of the best twists in movie history
if you are in that crowd and you are old and you didnt know vader was the father... shame on you
why shame? What if during all the times Star Wars was playing, they were doing something else, and finally got into Star Wars now? good for them for expanding their interest at their age
The crowd clapping is more for the fact that it's an iconic movie moment
Peter Grun and YOUR in the majority of the "nerd shit"
Peter Grun
Yeah just do the navy seal copy pasta while your at it
Peter Grun ok dude 80 pounds for a 13 year old is NOT over weight so calm down

Vader: I am your father.
Audience: JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
It's 2017 bruh.... we all knew this why u clappin lol
You realize how iconic this scene is?
Yh I do but like... bit extra tbh. Would rather clap and shit at the end of RotJ. Partly cos the movies over lol but mostly cos its the finale
"OTT tbh"
cause they're over the top nerd fans.
'Cause not only is it one of the most badass moments in the Star Wars franchise, but in all of movie history.
Imagine if you were a fan between 1977 and 1980 that theorized Darth Vader being Luke's father.
Now imagine you being in theaters during this very scene with the theory in mind.
Why did some people got mindblown when they knew that it was No, I am your father instead of Luke, I am your father?
They just clap one of the best scene in the saga.
Cause the Mandela effect lol
The mandela effect was that
I always thought it was some hybrid of the two like "no, luke. I am your father." But nah. I guess not lol.

This single line gives me chills every time.
*I clapped I clapped when I saw it!*
But I get it, it's Star Wars Celebration....
I clapped cuz i know star wars.
OZKABOT AT-AT AT-AT
DaiBenduMonk of course
I was there! It was AMAZING!

It was such a privilege to be there.
I find the lack of understanding the cheer of the audience ... disturbing.

Blister Monde My thoughts exactly. It's honestly sad that people can't enjoy something or have fun without being criticized. -_-
Silence is the highest praise in Japan.
“The results are in, you are the farther!”
_Audience cheer_ -smosh
farter
Vader: "No, I am your father."
1980 crowd: "Daddy no!"
2017 crowd: "Daddy YES!"
my dad said everyone gasped and one person said holy...shitt..
in the original showing of course
That would've been my reaction too if I first saw in 1980.
The most scary and shocking bit in film history
Audience- Doesn't gasp but rather
Applauses...
"Obi-wannn never toold youu what happened to your father?" idk why i love this quote so much, he just sound so cool
To everyone confused as to why you’d clap for this part, go home. This is one of the biggest twists in all of storytelling. Its the mandela effect
Possibly one of the greatest plot twists of all time.
1980: WHAAAT?!?!?!
2017: WHOOOO!!!!
Yes, I am still watching this in 2021
when you thought they are gonna be shocked but they clapped all hail the Order 66😢
When Darth Vador says I am your father
Crowd: WOOO
When Kylo ten tells Rey she is a Palestine
Crowd:
Charlie A “Noooooooo! No.....no”
Palestine Vador
I know right
@@DarrylErickson and kylo ten
Palestine?
Here you have it. Its"No, I am your father" not "Luke,I am your father"
Lol crowd goes wild over an old ass scene that most people can't even say right
why are they clapping? its 2017 and they all know the twist. am I missing something?
They are clapping at an iconic moment in film history, not because they were surprised
Kaighen pretty sure this is from when the movie first came out. Not in 2017.
+SweetTea bruh
Jessuh am I wrong? Sorry. 🙁
haha, I thought you were joking. They didn't record the reaction of the audience back then. (I don't think, I probably would have seen it). It's fine though, all cool dude. I misunderstood your comment for a joke, my bad haha

Another happy landing
Maury: The results are in. Vader, YOU ARE THE FATHER!
Vader: No, I am your father.
Crowd in 1980: ("Nooo"s and gasps)
Crowd here in 2017: (wild cheering)
This anime looks intense.
Shut ur
@@DarrylErickson bruh it's been 3 years

Seen this 5,000 times, sitting in a theater will make no difference
And the results say... YOU ARE THE FATHER!
So this is what it feels to be in my dad shoes when Star Wars was first released in theaters
Mickey: Luke I am your new owner Luke: NOOOOO
This makes me happy
THE GREATEST REVELATION IN CINEMA HISTORY
Maury: When it comes to 22-year-old Luke, Darth Vader...
U R THE FATHER!
Clapping and cheering for such an iconic scene :)
I half expected them all to gasp and start whispering...
Mandela effect, it was commercialized that the quote was "Luke, I am your father." but the original quote was indeed "No, I am your father."
-"No, luke."
-"I am your father."
-(crowd) "lmao."
The legend say that the crowd only awaited that in the movie
I got major nostalgia goosebumps
*37 years later, and we get emotional, for this we still love empire strikes back😅😅😅*
The echoing sounds so cool with Vader's voice
People think it's "Luke, I am your father..." But it's Actully
"No, I am the father"
YOU ARE TEARING ME APART, FATHER!!!
Well darth Vader didn't say ”Luke I'm ur father" he said ”no I'm ur father"!!!
no shit
he play darts now? lmao darth
Lutfi Rahman your rivaling the comment itself
Who said that he did?
Hippity Hopotus everybody
Gives me chills
chills every time
I hate how people think it’s “Luke, I am your father.” When it’s “No, I am your father.”
best line ever "No I am your father"
He says: "No, Im your father"
The Audience Is strong with the DARK SIDE OF THE FORCE
One of the best plot twists in all of filming history
GUYS CHILL, they are most likely clapping just from hearing one of hollywood''s most iconic fraises
Vader, YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER. Lol
hahaha
no, you are my father
what?
If I was in the crowd I'd have an ironic freak out like I've never seen it before!
Palpatine:knew it
"Luke, join me and together we will rule the galaxy as father and son!"
This is gonna be on trending
I would pay real money to see a theater reaction to this scene in 1980
Lmao at that acting, those "NO's" are so unconvincing
If I was in that crowd, Iwould have probably made a reaction similar to the crowd in 1980 and then yell "wait why everyone is clapping?"
Holy fadoodles he does say "no, I am your father "
Before anniversary: “No! What! How? Why? Who?”
After anniversary:”Yeaahh! Iconic! Let’s go Vader!”
*"Scene is very dark"*
Crowds: WHOOOO!
It actually says, "I am the father" Its a Mandela effect
Never gets old.
I would pay money to watch the original reaction from the 80s crowd
When Luke said “Nooooooooo!!!” That’s how I felt when he died in episode 8
Holy shit! That's his dad? Damn I didn't really really see that coming.
imagine if there was only one person that cheered
The crowd's reaction when it's No I am your Father and not Luke I am your Father.
I expected more outrage and people fighting each other rather than this.
yeah, the best thing ever is clapping while watching some old movie
such a good movie i love star wars
Darth-Vador: I MA your Father
Crowd: *WHHOOOOO* *CLAP CLAP CLAP*
I applauded it for being different!
Vader: "No, I am your father ".
The original line was "No, Obi Wan killed your father"
I can see this being viral in the next 5 months
It's Luke, I am your father! Not "No", I am your father! Geez Darth, get it right!
No, not wrong. It's just a Mandela effect.
Or what? You gonna do something? LOL
SweetTea Mandela Effect???
Clark Donnelly yeah, it's a lot of info. If you're interested their are some good videos here on UA-cam. Also there are two kinds of people those effected by it and those who always been here and don't see the things we see changing.
SweetTea Um... ok...
I would yell "We already knew that!"
Vader:no im"JOHN CENA!!!!"
Luke:Noooo
Darth Vader, you are the farther.
*everyone calps*
*Luke:* NOOOOOOOOOOO
When I saw it years ago, I swear, that was the biggest plot twist of my life.
the crowds are comepletely quiet through any film where i live
I was hoping they would've been like "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH MY GOD!!!!"
