I appreciate all of this! We are going to get the salute tickets for our trip in February, but it will be nice to potentially help our siblings or parents come with us in the future.
So we were booked at shades for one day of the trip everything else was already filled up. Got a call from them this afternoon asking if we were still interested in staying a 2nd night and booked us over the phone! What a great start and amazing team over there! Thank you guys for the tips so much is falling into place and they have officially added the cheese wheel pasta to M's online menus (I know what I'm eating for my bday supper) yall have a blessed week and thanks again with all the gratitude I can muster! Oh, and in case trav and I and our beastie Brenda get busy with last-minute planning, Happy holidays
@battlegroundbiscuits will do! I'm so excited. Oh, Shades has a nice Busch garden ticket with all day eat for around 120 in case yall hadn't heard (doubt that, lol)
Could yall post a link to the video with the cheese wheel pasta? I have been looking for a few hours now, and I can't find it, I'm certain you had one, right?
Of course! I like to talk it out even though I know you can find the info on numerous websites. Sometimes it just communicates better for some people when they hear it discussed so I like to try to break it down best as possible. I'm always glad to hear when its helpful so thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you. ❤😊 so going to shades of green and buying it there is cheaper than buying at the MK ticket office ?? I stayed at the Shades of Green in September. Bad internet in the rooms. The rooms are ok. Had a lizard in the bathtub. 😅
You'll definitely save by purchasing at Shades of Green just in taxes alone. Remember, Disney charges tax but SOG does not. We have stayed in several areas around SOG and have had great internet in some areas and terrible in other areas. And it has been a few years since the rooms have seen upgrades but they've always been clean and BIG which is what we love aside from the price. The lizard in the bathtub makes me laugh lol Those guys will find a way in for sure! Here in Charleston we are ALWAYS finding lizards...well, I should say, the cats find them lol Just last weekend I mistakenly brought one inside when I took the Halloween wreath off the front door and he hitched a ride in. I guess he thought those decorations were for him lol. I've just come to accept them now...In fact, in Hawaii they say the Mo'o (lizard) is thought to be a guardian spirit. Theres your interesting fact for the day!
Thats a great point...We have never had to adjust our tickets from base so we don't have personal knowledge on that. Hopefully others reading will take that into consideration. Usually I refer to "call Disney and ask them to adjust it" but since you can't get these from Disney that makes complete sense. Thanks for adding that!
ughhh wish we knew this when we went in January/Feb .....but had pkg so would of had to figure which was best......SInce u seem to go to Disney alot can u do a video on best times/worst times ...would love to go back for 1st week of Dec but last time was PACKED..Thanks.........
Aw shoot! Well keep this in mind for your next trip. I can definitely add your idea to my content list and try to make a video about when to visit. I see the question a lot so it might be worth a conversation on camera. Thanks for asking! 🫶🏼
This is a great video. I called Shades of green and they told me that I could not purchase Disney world tickets since my husband is a veteran with a dd214. He said they can only be purchased in January and September. Do you know a base that will sell to veterans with a dd214 and mail out the tickets?
When we went to Disneyland we got genie+ tickets under the military discount. For Disney world do you just get the salute tix and have upgrade them for the lightning lane option?
This was the video I was looking for! My question(s) is that when my nephew purchases all of our tickets (he’s not going) puts his confirmation number in his app I imagine all of us need to be linked to him with our accounts or can we just get our tickets at guest services window with his confirmation number? And these types of tickets don’t need validation with his ID?
I don't see an option at JB Charleston for more than 3 day base (of the non-salute tickets). You mentioned getting up to 10 days, are these only available at shades of green?
Yea different bases have different deals but you can get up to 10 days through Shades of Green. Heres a link to that if you still need it www.shadesofgreen.org/ticket-prices
Do these Magic Your Way tickets apply to DisneyLAND as well in California or only Disney WORLD in Florida? Also, to avoid the 14 day expiration, can't you just buy them as you need them or can you ONLY buy them once? Say that you know that you are going in June and again in December, to avoid the expiration policy, can't you just buy them twice? Once in June and the other in December? Can a military member purchase tickets for family? If so, does the military member need to be present at the gate for admission of the family? Will Disney be checking for miitary ID cards? Do these tickets look any different than regular tix purchased at the gate?
Magic Your Way tickets are for Disney World in FL and you can absolutely buy them as you need them based on how many days your trip will be. Yes, Military members can purchase MYW tickets for their families and friends. No, the military member does not need to be present at the gate when using THESE tickets. *Note: military member does need to be present to validate the Salute tickets mentioned in separate video. And, yes, Disney does reserve the right to randomly request to see the military members I.D at the gate when using the SALUTE tickets* ALL military tickets will be a plastic card. Disney has started sending ticket info through email so most people will choose to upload their ticket numbers to their My Disney Experience (MDE) app and enter the parks using their phone barcodes or linked magic bands. You can still choose to request a hard plastic card if you wish once you get to the park (or they can send you one through the mail for a shipping fee). Hopefully I answered all of your questions :)
@@battlegroundbiscuits You are incredibly resourceful and very thorough with your responses. Thank you so much. As I have shared with you in my other comment, I would really appreciate knowing ANY OTHER savings for military members, not just for Disney products. For example, if you go on a trip to Las Vegas, others may not be aware that you can get a players' card from Caesars and MGM properties and get free hotel parking as well as discount at restaurants, gift shops, etc. Most hotels/casinos on the main strip is owned by either Casesars or MGM. You simply go to one of their players' card desks and present your military ID card.
I just called shades of green and they told me that the salute tickets are only good in the month of January And the month of September. Is that correct?
I think there may have been some confusion there... There are "salute tickets" which are the promotional tickets you can use for the Disney parks anytime within the promotional period if you're eligible. You don't need to stay at Shades of Green to purchase or use those tickets. Secondly, there is the "salute to veterans program" that Shades of Green honors which allows any military veteran who was honorably discharged to stay at Shades of Green during January and September. Rooms booked with this promotion will pay a category 3 rate and you'll need a copy of your current DD214. I hope that clears up any misunderstanding!
The way it worked for us is we initially purchased our AP through SOG and loaded to our MDE app. When it was time to renew last year we just paid the renewal price to Disney directly through the app. It was still cheaper than buying them new.
@@battlegroundbiscuits I didn't realize I qualified for SOG until recently so I bought through Disney and paid tax. Staying Jun 15- 25 at SOG and then 2 nights at AKL so can't wait.
@@Artuitus ahh I see…so, when that pass expires check the Disney renewal price against the new price it’s offered at through SOG to compare. If SOG is cheaper I’d just let that original one expire and add your new one. Have fun in June! So you’ll be there for Father’s Day! If you like fishing check out our video from Father’s Day last year when we did a fishing excursion on seven seas lagoon 😎 Bring your sunscreen and water!
Appreciate the video, but as a vet without base access, it looks like I can only get these tickets by flying to Orlando and going to SOG--which of course will be too late to make a park reservation. I know you don't make the rules. I'm just tired of empty gestures to vets. Do better, Disney and MWR. 😠
@@DCDragonfly you can order these through Shades of Greens website! Go to ‘tickets’ and download the order form. List the tickets you want, how many, print it and sign, then scan and upload the form. Email it to them and they will call you for payment. Once it’s paid they will email you digital tickets! It’s a process (like anything with the military) but it’s possible for you 🥳
@@battlegroundbiscuits Are you sure? The form asks me to certify that "you are currently Active Duty, a Retired member of the United States Armed Forces, Department of Defense Civilian employee, the current spouse of an Active Duty, Retired, or Reservist in Active status, have a VHIC identification card." None of those apply to me. All I have is a DD214.
I am a veteran and I don’t qualify for the military salute tickets however my daughter got us package deals(park tickets and resort)and I have no idea how I can get a military discount? Any help would be great so I can save us a little money.
Disney, like many theme parks, charge what guests are willing to pay. The crowds aren't getting any smaller. The cost is high but it is very clear that the demand is higher. I believe a lot of theme parks charge full adult price for children over age 2 (at least Six Flags does) I know its frustrating to see costs add up but I still think military members get great rates compared to most guests visiting.
Very helpful information! Thank you!
You’re so welcome!!
These ticket videos (Salute also) are so helpful and informative! Definitely going to save them for reference! Thank you Ashley!

Do you know if we can purchase our Military Salutes while at Disneyland? We used to be able to get them at the ticket booth before the pandemic.
