    I have the 8' and 11' Presso rods and love them, I don't have the $ for a Presso reel and I'm now deep in envy after watching your video and the fun you had. I have the Okuma Helios 20&30 sizes on my rods and after using them on many trips and hundreds of fish I found I couldn't be happier nor have the need of anything lacking in these reels.
    I enjoy your straight to the facts and honest no-bullshit reviews with lots of experience to back it up, please carry on with your excellent work while I await your next brilliant video. 🐟🐟

      thank you sir! That's why i bought this reel. To be honest, mechanically it is nothing special these days. Perhaps not worth what I paid for it even with the discount , so don't be that envious. But I didn't buy it for the value. I just love my presso rods and to fish with the presso combo... it just fills my heart with joy. I really don't care about the mechanics of the reel in this case.

      Okuma helios is not a good reel. Don't take this the wrong way, i just want to give u a tip. Okuma reels are always reliable and always a great value, but it stops here. They do NOT feel smooth, have high inertia, and do not feel finesse. My favorite combo reel for the Presso rod until now was the Daiwa Legalis 2500D. No other model! Color matches great! Very low inertia! Very light! Very smooth! Second best would be Daiwa Theory 2500 but that one is about $150, and the Legalis feels almost the same for $50. Just trust me and get a Legalis on a sale somewhere..

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому +5

      I will make a review on this line later, but it is a whole different category (polyester). It feels like stretched plastic. It feels exactly like plastic to the touch. It is smooth like mono and casts... too good. It is super dense and heavy and sinks faster than fluorocarbon, and because it is so dense, it is more sensitive than fluorocarbon or braid. However it is not all good news - it is super expensive and sold only in ridiculously low diameters, breaks off super easy, and when casting it wants to come off the spool all the time. But there is some magic in it for sure - i have never before thought i can have so much sensitivity with a daiwa presso rod

    Thank you for the metric units :)
    The fine tackle might also be a little milder on the fish and they might have a better chance to survive.
    I use 0.10 mm line on my reel for catching walleye and pike with jigs. I adjust the drag after setting the hook and I never lost fish because of too thin fishing line. I already landed a few fish of 90 cm, however I lost a pike of 117 cm because the snap bend open but I caught the same fish later on another rod.

    I tried to buy the 2000 series off eBay but didn’t work out. Found another 17 model 1025 model new in box for 290+ shipping. In the meantime I did pick up two of the old diawa exists off tackle warehouse which are currently 50% off. As nice as that real is I can only imagine how the new model would preform. I will say this and I don’t think I paid much attention before but the sound of the drag on these high end diawa is fantastic.

      My question is I see a 2025 spool up for sale that is pretty cheap. Will it fit on my 1025 reel. I think I heard you say in one video they are the same other then the spool

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому +1

      i am 90% sure, but bot 100% Iknow the body is the same for sure, but not sure about the rotor that spins around a larger spool. Did they make a larger rotor just for the 2025? I really don't think so, thats not how daiwa and shimano work. But it is possible, since it is such an expensive reel - maybe they did to a separate rotor just for that reel.
      I would buy whichever i find a good deal on and not worry about spools. There is very little difference between 1025 and 2025 anyway.

    Your crappie seem small where you are fishing, in GA the crappie grew huge and not unusual to catch 12-15” weighing between 1-2+ pounds. If you want to take a trip to Woodstock GA we will go out and fill up the boat, it’s best when it starts to cool down in October. Let me know if interested we can talk on phone to fill you in etc.

    I need to try the Power Pro Super Slick since you say you like it. I haven't found a fused braid I like because all of them I've tried have frayed after not many fish catches. I use Power Pro Maxcuatro because of its smaller diameter.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому +1

      i said its my favorite power pro. That is true. But not my favorite braid. Daiwa J-Braid Grand is not as smooth, but more supple, and for finesse fishing I prefer it over the powerpro. It comes off easier because it is soft. Not for beginners, as knots can drive u mad, but i don't think you are. I flip the bail manually, like u noticed, just before the lure touches the water. This way the line is always tight when the lure touches the water and does not keep coming off the spool after it hits the surface and stops.

    • @jamesbarron1202
      @jamesbarron1202 5 років тому

      I'll give the Daiwa braid a shot if you like it. I want a line that gives me maximum casting distance with a light weight jig. I do a lot of crappie fishing below a dam tailrace and the area with all the crappie is off limits so a very long cast is needed to hit the spot. When its windy I have to use a weighted float to reach it. And yes I'm not new to fishing. Over 50 years I've been at it. My favorite sport and I used to guide for bass. Bass, cats and crappie are my favorite

    What size of that presso rod? I’m thinking about getting another short rod 5’5 or 6’ to cast 1/64 - 1/32oz jig head. I’m using sensilite 6’6 right now and that rod is too stiff (more like Lite instead of UL) I also have spinmatic 7’ but that rod is so wimpy and soft.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому +1

      agree with your sentiments on spinmatic. However the Sensilite has L and UL version. I have the UL version and it ROCKS. I have review on it. I doubt u will call it stiff. U probably got the L.
      But to your question, this is the 6'0 Presso. I always considered it too wimpy as well. The 6'6 is very different than the 6.0, much less wimpy, and in my opinion better. However since this is my extreme combo, i put the 6'0" just because it is the lightest. For some reason with this super light reel the rod is super balanced and jigging was kind of doable. It will never be a jigging rod, but in a pinch, u can jig with it. I still prefer the 6'6" presso over this one.. but just not for this particular combo. This combo is ... its something else and i don't want to change it. I've fished UL all my life and still this was a new world open to me.

    • @bassfishingsocal6476
      @bassfishingsocal6476 5 років тому

      i_fish I had to go into my garage and checked lol. It is definitely UL version. I can’t cast a good distance with 1/32oz jig head. The reel I pair with is Sahara 750 with 4lb izorline. I actually went to local and check on presso, they have new spinmatic in 6’ but no presso and actually not as bad as 7’ one. I do a lot of jigging and hopping which I plan to do with new rod with lighter weight targeting bluegill.
      I watched a lot of your video as well as the one you reviewed a bunch or UL rod. I enjoy a lot of your video as well. I also watch the video you like new daiwa legalis LT, but I plan to get either Exceler 1000d or 2000s for new rod.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому

      your last comment got deleted by youtube. I can see it in history, but i don't see it in my video and cannot reply to it. It has been very frustrating, youtube deleting comments that it considers offensive. Not sure what is offensive in that comment. But no matter which Presso you chose - you will not like it for jigging. It may cast super light lures better than the Sensilite, but u will lose a lot of jiggin action.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому

      you know... exceller is the better reels and its worth the extra money. The only difference is the inertia. For some reason, the Legalis is a little big lighter to turn from a stationary position. But u can't go wrong with either one of these reels. I can tell u the expensive reels are not any smoother than these 2. They lighter and maybe last longer, but not smoother.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому +1

      You got the right rod! Amazon is just stupid with descriptions. But thats where i got mine, and it said the same. However I got mine for $52. What I do is add to cart, then 'Save for Later'. Then watch it a couple of weeks... The price goes up and down a lot, every week.

      i_fish ok thanks and is there a different between the 6’0 and 6’6 other than the length

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому

      Yes. 6’6 is a little stiffer. There is no difference between !6’6” and 7’0 and 7”6 other than length. But the 6’0 and lower are softer. A little too soft. I prefer the 6’6 personally. For this combo i use the 6”0 just because i want extremely light.

    • @joelburchett5476
      @joelburchett5476 5 років тому

      i_fish thanks then I will be getting the 6’6

  • @joelburchett5476
    @joelburchett5476 5 років тому

    How durable is the 6’6 is it fragile or is it pretty rugged and how big of a fish do you think would snap it

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому

      it is extremely fragile. If you are even worried about it do NOT buy it. The blank is SUPER THIN and any kind of damage will be fatal. However a fish cannot break the rod without the angler doing something wrong. Every time this happens it is the fault of the angler. You should not allow the fish to break your rod. Use drag, and do not bend the rod in very acute angles. Watch the video in my home page. I landed a 40" musky with this rod! Yes, i landed it! It didn't snap because i never allowed it. The rod is fragile during TRANSPORTATION. You can't just grab 3 rods in your hand and toss them in the truck like u do with your ugly sticks. This rod is always in a rod sock and transported with care. Thats where the danger is - transportation. Not fish.

    • @joelburchett5476
      @joelburchett5476 5 років тому +1

      i_fish then I will not get it I will probably break it because of wading and going down hills and dropping it

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому

      yeah, it is not good for that. Look at Shimano Sensilite instead. That one will survive a drop. Also very finesse. I have review on it

    Hello i_fish , please tell me, do you have a 4 piece rod or 2? progressive action? Thanks. Nice video mate.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  5 років тому +1

      2 piece, 6'0". I have all models from 6 to 9 foot. 6 is too soft, 9 is too stiff. The 4 piece rod is significantly stiffer than the 2 piece rods. The action on the 2 piece rods is ... as u can see it in the video : ) . It is not Progressive. It is not Parabolic like a carp rod either. It is in the middle. Recovery is very slow. I have detailed video review on this rod - u can see the curve in the video with different loads.
