- It would be a dream for most mountain bikers of the world...the chance to grow up on Vancouver's North Shore. That became reality in Thomas Vanderham's life as a young kid when his family moved to North Vancouver's Deep Cove. The raw and unruly North Shore terrain was a perfect compliment to his natural ability on a bike, and he quickly rose to the highest ranks of a roaring freeride revolution. Thomas' name became synonymous with his distinct style, creativity, and amplitude; attributes which landed him in countless film segments that have inspired mountain bikers across the globe. His impact on the sport has been present ever since.
More than 20 years later Thomas still calls Deep Cove home and is as involved as ever in the sport of mountain biking. Like the trails of the North Shore, he has evolved- refining his craft along the way and balancing his duties as an athlete with that of being a father and a husband. Through it all, he has continued to find ways to pass his passion for mountain biking on to past and future generations of the sport.

this is home might just be the best series ever.
Oh yea has to be
TEEEEVEEEEE- 20 years ago I could watch you ride all day in those old segments. Nothing has changed.
My cheeks hurt from smiling so much. You captured what freeriding means to me now, in my 40's, with a bunch of kids and responsibilities. It's different now than when I was 20 hucking things to flat. Thanks for this, sometimes I need the reminder of why I have to make time to ride.
This is some HIGH QUALITY filmmaking right here.
Sterling never disappoints
Incredible film! Such a great tribute to Thomas, his career, and family. Amazing work by everyone involved.
Yeah... The low light captures the feeling of the North Shore. Credit to Sterling Lowrence for the photography too.
whoever came up with 4:10 can have my life, that was a really good example of visual audio narrative
10:14 mannnnnn sound designerss!!!! love it those trees whoosh sfx so good
The song of the minute 6:50 is a special song for the video it has not come out on digital platforms it is sad it is a wonder of song
This is home is the best series ever, high quality in so many ways🔥
I have no words to describe the unbeliveablessness of this film. Absolutely breathtaking.
If I didn't have endless dreams about riding in the North Shore before... amazing film, beautiful and inspiring in equal measure.
One day I'll have the bike, the time, the money and the skill (most of which I am totally lacking) to get to Vancouver and even just stand for a while at the top of one of these runs in the damp forest and soak it up before dropping in and, inevitably, completely stacking it on the first unruly root or loamy berm or slick bit of woodwork... But my God! The separated shoulder, contusions and concussion would be worth it!
I see a kid who never grew up , in a beautiful way, Thomas , never stop loving your life and friends
It's an awesome way to be.. peace dude
Perfect film in every way... story, cinematography, editing, music, riding... perfect.
The Shimano This is home videos are the best mountainbiking videos I have ever seen!!! Nice job Shimano, keep it going!
This series has been the best, story and cinematography wise. Absolutely love it.
Beautifully shot. I have enjoyed watching you ride since The Collective. We still say “3, 2, 1, dropping In.”
I remember watching Thomas for the first time in NWD 5. His style was so laid back and so effortless. then watching him in Seasons, he somehow managed to go bigger and faster then everyone, and his whip was legendary.
Him and Mccaul got me hooked on MTB
Agreed bud. It was 'Seasons' for me back in 2007. LBS hoasted a viewing in our college's new rec center. Been hooked ever since. So much steeze and Cam's energy/attitude as another YTer put it, children that never grew up but in a beautiful way.
Thooooose scrubs were mind blowing
These are the best videos. It's like what surf movies used to be. That guy absolutely rips!
Really amazing to see our heroes flow with us down the trail of life. It helps some of us I imagine, not feel so alone or scared that we're losing ourselves through our 30's.
Thomas Vanderham, a legend in MTB freeride with a riding style I always look up to :)
BY FAR the best TIH to date. Thomas Vanderham was a favourite of mine since the start and his riding is always smooth, regardless of how big the hits are! More of these please!
Loved this, such a humble guy, the love of biking comes through in spades. Epic forest too.
Incredible work! Thomas is a real gem in mountain biking 🤘
Tangible, organic and inspiring. We are constantly bombarded with bike films trying overly hard to impress us. Thank you all for this short film
Awesome, thats why I love Mountain biking, the scenery, the challenges, all therapy for me.
This is truly a piece of art! Great filming, great editing, emotional story and all this with one of my favorite riders... 🖤
Thanks for this guys!
This is why I support Shimano and so many other reasons. Great to see great locals recognized.
Huge props to Shimano for doing this series, easily my favorite.
Shimano, you are the best!
Thank you.
So many throwbacks to my early enthusiasm in cycling/teenage years! Thanks Shimano/TV!
As a MTB freak this is one of the greatest series made. Keep up the good work!
These videography and editing skills are out of this world!!
Incredible film! And shoutout to Shimano for sponsoring a video that focuses on what Thomas wanted to show and not seeing XTR components in every shot. Hell, I saw the Fox fork more than anything Shimano on his Bikes! 🤣
Thomas has probably been my favourite rider since waaaaay back in the day. Finally met him on the chairlift in whistler a couple years ago and he is a super chill humble dude! Love this vid
what an incredible cinematography and also was posted on the day of my birthday. Good job so stoked to be back on my bike soon. :)
0:37 one of the best cities in the world! love it! especially The North Shore!
WOW!!!! THIS is why! Don't need to say anything else! Just love it!
I frigen love that guy! So honored to have spent a little time with him here in Australia. Such an amazing rider but an even better person. So humble...so kind! They'll never be another like him!!!!!!!
That... was spectacular. The vintage late 1990's footage takes me back to the days when the RM Pipeline was the raddest thing I had seen (owned) and man... what a rad time it was.
Brilliant, so glad I found this.
the cinematography aspect is awesome. the photography work of Sterling Lorence is awesome too and the riding style of Thomas is no Joke
Amazing, really enjoyed this one. And one of the most beautiful shots from 9:30 - 9:50, that tabletop was beautilful. Keep it up Thomas, and all the best to you and your family!
This is becoming my morning routine. Coming here and dreaming Big...
Amazing filming, great video!
Amazing work, guys! So cool to see Thomas still sending it like that. I'm out for a ride now.
Great guy. Great Father. Great rider. Great video. Anyone that pushes that thumbs down has serious self esteem issues.
:0 best episode so far !!! great rider ! congrats to the photographer and editor for excellent video
Brilliant :) All the best Thomas! Edmonton to BC... an Amazing Story.. wish you continued success :)
I remember going up to BC, and meeting Thomas. I was from the Tahoe area and the terrain and skills were a complete different universe for me. He's always been one of my favorite pro riders, down to earth and without any extroverted BS. Great video!
Love that old school north shore footage
This is home is SOOO good. Love watching them. Inspiring for sure!!
You guys are heroes. We used to copy what you did and you inspired my mates and I, to build probably the first North Shore style stunts in the UK. Good times :)
Love this! The video style, how the story is told, camera shots, the people involved, the music, sfx - jus a good nice mountain bike video. Good job!
Watching this Thomas mountain biking life made my day!
So fresh so clean..! Big up 😉✊✌️
I don't know how you guys did it, but the cinematography is just insane. So beautiful and cinematic.
Great wee watch! Stunning light in the wise old woods, as always 👌
❤️ Beautiful Cinematography! Love this!
Thomas Vanderham to me means effortless style and fluidity no matter how jaw dropping the drop or jump.
I clearly remember when thomas revealed himself to the world, in the film kranked 3, it was just pure emotion. Like an art, not like a sport. So much emotion, perhaps because he was one of the first freeriders to come from mtb spontaneous generation, who did not come from bmx, motorbike, ski, snowboard, or another sport.
Sweeeeet! Could (and will) watch this a dozen times.
Love this! Thank you.
Loved the mac-ride segment. A fantastic piece of kit for the wee ones to come riding with parents!
I liked this video. It was cool to see my grandparents old house. Thomas’s new house 🙂
What an amazing video of a MTB legend.
Great storyline, cinematography and grading. Love it!
So good, and thanks for the introduction to Andrew Judah. Wow.
Great person! Watched your riding since 15 years, greetings from Europe
DAMN that was good!!
Man it's so great to see, how Vanderham still love to ride and personal to me a cool feeling after als those years of biking.
Ride on!
Beside that fact: the Home series are Cinema Art!
Awesome feature, awesome video......now to leave work and go ride! LOL :)
