After watching this and other videos, I switched to a 50gm Riptide CB, 1/2 inch longer for like $37 off ebay!! With great results. Instantly getting more center strikes and longer drives on the course with smooth swings. Could not believe using the footspray to compare groupings, went from healstriker with Hzrdus to center with lighter Riptide. With the 70gm hzrdus I felt like I had to swing hard to get it to perform but it was a very straight. That was great when I'm able to practice alot but the riptide is so much easier to just swing easy. Both shafts were stiff so not as dramatic as what guys had
I fitted a Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue 45 Graphite - Wood A (50 Euro shaft) took 2 inch off from the tip and installed Cobra Adapter for my Cobra Radspeed just for fun. Put the driver onto 10.5 degree, mounted some 14 gram weight in front slot to lower spin and a extra 6 gram weight in the back, lenght 45inch, swingweight around D1.1 which I love. Wow... tested it on trackman indoors, compared it to Ping 430 Max 10K, Ai Smoke Max, QI10, Cobra, TSi3 ... The 3 years old Radspeed was 7-8 yards longer then the Ai Smoke which gave a little tighter dispersion. But my Radspeed drives were all left centre line, baby draw and in the fairway all except one. But man the feel and timing fits me so much better, loving it.
I have the same shaft in black as the white one. It came in my old Nike Sasquatch machspeed 9.5 STR8 fit. Fujikura Motore F3 60g instead of 55g. I went straight to the garage and got it, because I knew that it was the same. Love the videos man, keep up the great work.
The spin rate with the Autoflex was 500-600 higher than the others, change the loft of the driver and the distance will increase. TXG tested an autoflex and had similar distance numbers with a slightly lower swing speed, they lowered the loft on the driver by 1degree and the spin rate went down by almost 1000 while the overall distance increased over 25 yards.
Good insight by AJ. I recently did some research on graphite shafts and all the manufactures where talking up their own shafts. Ended up with regular flex

I did this. I put that shaft (in 5.0 flex) in my TSR3 in place of the stiff, 65g shaft I had. I didn't feel much difference in the shaft or the club, and it didn't bring down my swing weight much. Also, contact felt muffled. But....I gained about 10 yards on Trackman.

short game guy's swing speed is about 105 and he's carrying his driver about 255, total distance is about 275. Are you saying you went from 220 total to 275 just by switching to the Radspeed XD?
Such a good video...dispelling the myth around high price shafts...$800 for an Autoflex is just plain nuts. I now game a SIM driver with the stock TaylorMade fake Ventus Blue R 60 gram shaft and it beats my PING G400 Max and SFT with pricier shafts all day long.
Tried this experiment with the same PX Evenflow Riptide CB 5.0 A flex 40g. Like you mentioned, it didn't really feel loose like the Autoflex is supposed to. It was just a very smooth feeling good performer. I also glued up a Garafalloy ProLaunch Blue A flex 45g. This is a shaft that anyone can buy at GG for $60. The #'s are blowing my mind right now! I've been playing a Fuji MotoreX F1 6X for the past 2 years. It was supposed to be my "forever shaft".. but I'm quickly losing that loving feeling and falling for one of these "Otto Phlex" shafts. @@AZstu324 thanks again. Did you have to make an adjustment with your driver with the new shaft? TXG ran a side by side with the Autoflex and the new Brava shaft. The Brava won the first round but the spin rate was very high on the Autoflex. For the second round they changed the head from 9 degrees to 8 which brought the spin rate down almost 1000 rpm on the Autoflex and the tester saw a considerable increase in distance. Close to 290 total with a swing speed of just 102 mph which I found amazing.
WHOA!!!! Mr Shortgame could have saved himself some $$$ if he new about that shaft a few months ago. I think it's also interesting that R vs S vs other flexes may not me anything as the weight & other factors really make the difference. If you can swing fast and stays in play than that is the shaft for you.
That EXACT thing happened to me last week, man. I was mid back swing and a bee stung me on the back of my neck. Caused me to flop a shot straight into water.
Only goes to show just spending big bucks doesn't necessarily mean you will get a better performing club. Going to a good club fitter like AJ probably does. Good insight, thanks
Are you swinging a regular flex shaft that is 40 grams with a 100 mph swing speed? Aren’t most shafts in the 60-70 grams for that swing speed and stiff shafts?
Is there somewhere where I can see the metrics? I bought the Autoflex because it increased my carry substantially by raising my launch. I didn't get a huge distance gain because my previous shots rolled so far. I'm a rare case though as I am low launch super low spin player. AF with Stealth standard got me up to 12-13/2200 instead of 9.5/1700.
Looking good Mr Short Game. I’d love to see you compare the auto flex driver shaft with the G-force driver shaft with the same premium head. I put the G-force driver shaft in Ping G425 and added an extra 10-15 yards over my stiff shaft using a slower, more effortless swing.
Hey guys - I've had success building clubs using the Fujikura Vista Pro F3/F2 45 gram - a great alternative to a more expensive tour shaft- have you compared this one to the Motore or Riptide? The launch and torque is bit higher then the Riptide which has it's benefits. Cheers guys!
Very good video. I always find in fittings that people highly undervalue the shaft as the catalyst for their swing dynamics and delivery. Low kick point shafts aren’t for everyone (especially high spin players) but it’s always good to experiment and see what works!
Excellent video. I had the exact same Riptide in my PXG driver in Senior Flex and it was, at best, OK. I liked the Tensei CK Blue shaft that I had on my hybrids so had a driver version of the Tensei shaft made in Senior flex (one inch longe than the Riptide) and it was a night and day difference. It was like a new driver, for a fraction of the cost.
Gforce has a shaft for the Driver where DIY golfers and custom club makers can fit the shaft with the fitting sleeve of the brand of Driver a golfer has. I got one at the beginning of the year and had a local custom club maker install the Callaway sleeve so I can use it on my two Callaway Drivers. Maybe that could be another experiment you can do.
Great Info. Would love to try this out myself and compare that to my Autoflexshaft. It’s hard to get the old Fujikura F3. How was the bend profile measured?
"He doesn't want to influence my sensories.... whatever I've got" lol. Also, just as a side, I think what appears to be your new camera guy should still use a tripod. Your newest videos are a bit all over the place.
Are we certain that Fujikura shaft is a Motore F3? I can’t find that anywhere. Can’t even find a picture of an all white Motore F3 55g shaft. I did randomly find a Motore F1 that’s all white. It looks like it was made for TaylorMade back in the day.
Not at all discrediting these shafts but really wish that Matt was using the proper flex in his Autoflex. With his swing speed the 505 is not enough and should have been the 505X hence me questioning his problem with it going left.
That's so funny he said that at the end, because I went in to buy a driver shaft and I talked to the club builder. He said the exact same thing. Weights might effect you, but graphite is graphite, steel is steel. Basically saying, their is no magic shaft.

People who spent $800 - $900 are realizing AF is a senior/reg light shaft disguised with pink paint. Buying a $100 shaft and spending $700 on lessons would have made them better golfers than 1 shaft.
Are you sure you don't mean the EF CB 5.0 5R? Which is 52 grams and still 6 grams less than the Motore? The CB 40 5.0 is only 45 grams. The 505x and xx are both in 50s. Can't imagine any hitter at 105+ ss hitting a 45 gram shaft and certainly dont see how it compares to the Motore.

Their secret is that their marketing department was able to sell a $50 shaft for $800. You have be honest though, before autoflex, no one would have recommended anyone with a 100+ mph swing speed with a 40g lite flex shaft.
Although I'll never pay $800 for a shaft, I'll admit that the marketing is pretty clever. They know trying to sell the idea that an A flex shaft could benefit higher speed swingers that it would never even leave the ground. They basically rebranded the A flex to be more appealing to a broader market AND spin it like a magic secret shaft with an $800 pricetag.. to bad they got figured 😜

What's your thoughts on that?
Put an Autoflex in my Titleist TSi1 hoping for some distance gains. Unfortunately I didn’t get any improvement over the stock shaft. Very disappointed, but as they say, you can’t buy a golf game!
VERY important to get the swing weight to a d1 or D0. To do that you need to increase the grip weight to get that to happen. a D2,3,4,5 and its not the same thing.
Matt, you normally play Stiff. You’ve gone down a flex to regular in the attempt to replicate the Autoflex. If a guy plays regular, he’d need to go down to A flex?
Yea, no way I would pay $800 for a shaft. That costs more than my complete set of irons! Besides I am not that good (about a 10 handicapper)...but I do have fun!
The spine alignment is the magic. Torque numbers are important, or put in a different way, how stable the shaft is from twisting when the ball finds the toe or heel side of the face. When the shaft has a very detectable spine, that can be used to control the unwinding of the shaft and make it more consistent. Scientific tests have been done to prove this as very beneficial. My swing is very consistent. I have aligned spines in all my shafts that have detectable spines. Aligning those spines toward the target give me a lot more consistent path of flight. Spent many hours testing this. From 150 yards, as an example, all the well struck balls were within 10 to 15 feet of the pin. With the unaligned shafts, the dispersion is all over the place. Left, right and distance control. WIth the alined shaft, the distance control was always pin high. Trajectory was always the same as was spin. You guys are not saying anything about pureing shafts. I can guarantee you if you are aligning those shafts, that old 2014 shaft will not give you the same results consistently if you just randomly stab 10 shafts. Look at it like this. if you insert a thin flat bar, rectangular in shape, through the middle of the shaft, the shaft will flex a lot more with the wide side of the bar facing the target at impact. It will always flex straight back and straight through the same way. If you rotate the shaft the shaft 20* clockwise, the shaft will flex towards the least amount of resistance and unflex the same. This will cause the head to wobble as it is flexing back and through impact. You can, by aligning a senior flex shaft, make it a lot more stable and predictable, with the extra pop you will get from longer flexing and unflexing. If you check shafts for spines, and algn align them towards the target, you will immediately notice more consistent dispersion and distance. Assuming you have a decent and consistent swing. The modern high end shafts address this stable torgue issue. The Ventus with Velocore being the most obvious one to mention.
I know you won't change your mind, but AJ has done a segment on alignment and floing and AJ has done a segment with Mr. Short Game on SST alignment. They found that it doesn't make any difference. The shaft doesn't just bend one way in a swing.
@@ExTrumpet True. Calloway has the best adjustment. It leaves the shaft in the same position. As for Taylormade, the only brand I have experience with, it's a pain. You have to reset the shaft everytime you change the stupid thing. For this adjustment system, I would use a high end shaft with no detectable spine. I use Ventus Velocore and have some with and some without detectable spines. The ones with detectable spines I put in non adjustble woods. Or if I know the setting that works the best for me, I align the spine for that setting. I will repeat, that spine alignment with a shaft that has a detectable spine make a huge difference.
@@larryjonak3617 Mine does. It loads and unloads. For someone with a different swing, maybe you are right. For them, I would focus on making a proper swing. Nothing you do to tune your clubs will help an improper swing.
@@chuckyz2 Your swing loads and unloads and it also has droop. That's bending in more than one plane. Mr. Short Game's swing looks like a proper swing. So, if he can't tell the difference maybe there isn't a difference.

Where is the mobile club maker link in the description below?
People who spent $800 - $900 are realizing AF is a senior/reg light shaft disguised with pink paint.
Buying a $100 shaft and spending $700 on lessons would have made them better golfers than 1 shaft.
Riptide CBS are currently $75-90 on eBay right now
Where and how do I buy shafts from 10 years ago?
White would have had a bit more swing weight due to being longer. Maybe why it felt so good.
Great vid!!! What about a Paderson challenge??
why are you swinging reg flex with 105+ club speed?
Are you sure you don't mean the EF CB 5.0 5R? Which is 52 grams and still 6 grams less than the Motore? The CB 40 5.0 is only 45 grams. The 505x and xx are both in 50s. Can't imagine any hitter at 105+ ss hitting a 45 gram shaft and certainly dont see how it compares to the Motore.
Another great program my friend. Be well.
More Collabs with AJ for sure!!
Sign me up ! awesome video fellas I need to go see AJ and get really fit. All these big name places charging an arm and a leg to just put u in expensive equipment. I'll play a lady's club or senior equipment if i have to .. as long as it helps my game, I could care less what the label says ! Great work guys =)
Wow...didn't know Mr SHORT game had a double meaning until today!!!
RMA on the AutoFlex! Great collab! 😀
Mr. SG is an ultimate driving machine!
Very cool. Good work on that
Wow this is amazing work
Their secret is that their marketing department was able to sell a $50 shaft for $800.
Mr.Short confidence, I say this with all due respect, I subscribed to you because of you unique and no bs approach to the game, I shot a true 82 to 97 ,real talk, seems like after you getting your ass handed to your own self, you lost your own confidence, I mean no disrespect, brutal honesty is golf. Put more of those awesome vids for people like us that got you big subscribed golf lovers, who gives a $#@% about making a shaft.
Is this a real give away or you mad at me for being honest? Lol, instill a huge fan and play almost every sun with a group of 20.we have guys who can bomb a drive but can't put to save their granny, then we have guys who are sharks around the green, if the can get there in 2, we all love your channel and discuss what you teach! I meant no disrespect, going pro was a reality check, but seeing a pro golf teacher messed your game up,I've hard that's what happens. If you already play great golf I was told not to take lessons? What's your thoughts on that?
I follow him for a while and like everything he say
Great content as always 👏
Put an Autoflex in my Titleist TSi1 hoping for some distance gains. Unfortunately I didn’t get any improvement over the stock shaft. Very disappointed, but as they say, you can’t buy a golf game!
VERY important to get the swing weight to a d1 or D0. To do that you need to increase the grip weight to get that to happen. a D2,3,4,5 and its not the same thing.
@@dominicfrank77 even lower c8-d0
I bought a 12d Driver from Golfworks with their R shaft and absolutely crush it 285 and I suck.
Straight or straight into the woods?
What a nice swing!
Great video, Mobile Club Maker has Great Content 👍 Very Informative Channel 👍
Thanks for the info on this one. Amazing. Now will Autoflex have a price drop??? A huge price drop?? 😂😂😂
The ping auto flex alta quick. Try it. Unbelievable
Matt, you normally play Stiff. You’ve gone down a flex to regular in the attempt to replicate the Autoflex. If a guy plays regular, he’d need to go down to A flex?
AF resale value just crashed after this video release. Prob filing for bankruptcy next week.
So, save your money, as it’s the person swinging the club vs the tech that makes the ball go!
Blue is evenflow riptide
Yea, no way I would pay $800 for a shaft. That costs more than my complete set of irons! Besides I am not that good (about a 10 handicapper)...but I do have fun!
Simple. 55g high kick point…done
Assuming your conclusions are correct, with today's adjustable heads the spine would only be correct in one head position.
Great video
Hey Matt Whats with the number to text to win crap is this real?
At 15k for the trackman… I see them everywhere, there is no way everyone is paying full price? How can I pick up a trackman for a reasonable price? Of course this is a stupid question, but seriously?
