I live in Missouri & prefer having the widows tilt inward in case of all probable/possible rain, sleet, snow in the hunting season. The magnetic holders would well from the interior too.
This is my first blind of any kind ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxLQGtOO9dXIsNktEeycGoIT6jtJJNTScA so nothing to compare it to. After I receive it, I set it up and left it outside at home for a couple of months to let it start smelling more like outside than human. So far I've been very happy with it. Very roomy - I hunt alone but could easily fit another person comfortably. Put one bolt through the shoot-through mesh, and works as advertised. I've ordered another one, so this noob is totally satisfied. One caveat - the included stakes are pretty useless; you'll want to order something more substantial. I haven't had it long enough to rate durability, but zero issues so far.
Best construction, windows, and accessories I've seen. If you would have set it back under the tree, with the tree in background to break up the silhoette, and camoed the blind a bit, it would be virtually hidden, and you might fool even the biggest bucks in the area. I guess if you only hunt it once in a great while it will be fine, but I wouldn't expect to kill anything huge out of it, especially with any significant hunting pressure on the property. The big boys in my area figure out pretty quick what a box in an open field is during hunting season. Fortunately for me, the outdoor hunting channels have misled my neighboring box blind hunters.
Thank you! I tried to build it top notch. You are 100% correct. Big deer will avoid it big time, especially where I hunt as well. I built it to be able to be comfortable in all conditions to go sit with family, friends and take little ones hunting. So it has a little different purpose. I tried purposely to keep it from under the tree so that no limbs would fall on it lol. I rather not have to rebuild it.
@@colbywalkoviak right, well then it will definitely serve it's intended purpose.... I get those falling limbs on mine, but so far no major damage. But yours will definitely last forever. Maybe when its ready for re painting, try some sky, limb and leaf camo. I did mine with a roller from the ground. I surprised myself.
Do you regret having windows that open outward rather than inward. In Nebraska it gets cold so we want them to open inward when we see the deer and less chance they get spooked. We generally don't leave them open all the time.
Thank you for the great video and design. Did you use 2x4 also for the floor support? 6x6 design, can you shoot with a rifle from inside the blind or will you have a portion of the rifle out of the window?
No problem!I used two by sixes for the floor joist. Yes you can shoot a rifle completely concealed inside if you had a tripod. Sometimes I use a bipod and shoot off the floor but it’s a little cramped trying to lay out
Ordered them from out of state. Got them and the design was poor. They leaked when installed to open inward. Had to do a remodel to put them to open out. Believe me, I don’t want them to open out but it is what it is now.
The window covering link does not take you to a camo covering. I'd love to get some and do so through your link, but... doesn't appear to be the same stuff.
Hi Kyle, if I were to do it over I would recommend not doing the vertical windows. The 6x6 size give you plenty of room to shoot out of the horizontals.
A little over $1300. The windows is what makes the cost get up there. It’s still cheaper than anything else comparable but right now lumber is extremely high
Nicely done! Nothing wrong with being comfortable and being able to spend more time hunting out of the elements..
It’s been a pleasure being comfortable instead of dangling from a tree stand. Also nice to be able to bring a fellow hunter whenever as well!

I agree. Poor window design leaked and I had to install them to open out. Needless to say the window company is no longer is business

Very nice blind brother!
Thank you!
Sweet tip on the tower leg brackets. No idea they existed.
Nice blind where did you buy the window perforated vinyl window coverings
nice job colby.
I like it. Very well built

I’ll have to give that a try!
Where did you get the camo tint for your windows
What materials and how much of each material did you use ?
Looks good!!
AMAZING

I originally installed them on the inside. They were designed poorly and leaked. I had to flip them to the outside. It was not ideal
@@colbywalkoviak you could put some Plexiglas slides on the inside that would help with weatherization
Do you have a sheet of the specs.? Would love to make one like this
Nice blind

@@colbywalkoviak Thank you, have been curious what dimension I would need to be completely concealed. I should lay out a design and try it
Nice!
Hey brother, where did you pick up your door?
From deer view windows. You can order from their website.
Maybe it's too late to ask but I was wondering where you got your window treatments that you can see through?
I got them from the place I ordered the windows through but they did not hold up well with the sun.
Thank you, that's good to know
Windows open out? Why. Wind will bang them around?

I’ve tried relooking to find the same stuff again but I was unable to. I’m taking the link down unfortunately
What did you trim your outer corners with?
It’s metal corner trim
If you had to do it over which windows would you recommend
Hi Kyle, if I were to do it over I would recommend not doing the vertical windows. The 6x6 size give you plenty of room to shoot out of the horizontals.
Hey Colby where did you get that door? Cost?
Deer View windows made the door. If you go to their website they have a few prices but they well also custom make it. I think mine was around $180
Nice Blind! Are there cows out there and that’s why it’s fenced off ?
Yes that is correct! They would be rubbing against it and no telling what else.
Awesome blind!! 6 ft. ceiling doesn't sound tall enough for a standing compound bow shot? Trying to shoot from a seated position isn't all that great.
It’s 6’6” to the ridge but yes not tall enough to shoot while standing.
No need to stand if you have a swiveling chair in there. Less movement!
How much would you charge to build one ?
I’d have to sit down a recalculate the materials first. Everything has tripled since I built this one.
What kind of door?
Door is made by DeerView windows. Similar to a rv style door
I liked the barbed wire best
Would you have liked it to have it say 10 ft of the ground
Absolutely! But it ended up being a little heavy. I should have purchased the 6x6 post version on the leg brackets and then I would have went higher.
What is the Camo covering the windows?
It is perforated 1 way window vinyl
If you want that smartpanel siding [or any wood siding] to last you better put a couple coats of paint on the bottom edges so it won't wick water.
You are correct!!!! Manufacturer does call for that to be done
In my 40 years experience I would also paint the back side up to your band joist too.
Good idea!
What is your estimated guess on money spent on this project???
A little over $1300. The windows is what makes the cost get up there. It’s still cheaper than anything else comparable but right now lumber is extremely high
Nice blind bud! Sub’d.
With you had more videos
Trying to post more! Never seem to have enough time now days lol
Bad A$$!!
