This is my first blind of any kind ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxLQGtOO9dXIsNktEeycGoIT6jtJJNTScA so nothing to compare it to. After I receive it, I set it up and left it outside at home for a couple of months to let it start smelling more like outside than human. So far I've been very happy with it. Very roomy - I hunt alone but could easily fit another person comfortably. Put one bolt through the shoot-through mesh, and works as advertised. I've ordered another one, so this noob is totally satisfied. One caveat - the included stakes are pretty useless; you'll want to order something more substantial. I haven't had it long enough to rate durability, but zero issues so far.

Nice blind Dave! It does need a metal porcupine skirt around the base. Those buggers will chew that blind sure as heck. It seems that the nicer the blind is, the more they want to chew it up. Good luck this deer season.

In 1996 I made a portable hunting blind out of high density foam. it's cylinder shaped walls and peeked roof make it big eto stand up. Has a heater and windows that move silently. I hunt public land in the UP. Best blind I ever had. You can't eat the horns!!

Nice blind and it was real cool to see you and your sons working on it together. I'm a bit envious, my stepson does this stuff with his dad and I've seen my own son about 5 or 6 times in the last twenty years so I do it all alone. It's a good thing to have sons to share the memories with and lets face it having some young strong backs to share the load with never hurts either.
I'm surprised you haven't used some of the native dead trees to do more corduroy trail. Also if you put sand or gravel on top it will pack those logs down. Boss of the swamp did a bunch of it on his channel years ago and it proved to work very well. Anyway nice job!
Yes we will be doing more work on the trail next fall again, but the bulk of the job is done (blind in place with decent trail)

Right on nice job on the deer blind 👍 and good to know about the ice and water shield I wouldn't of thought it would last that long. The shingles on my house are just a bit older and they need to be changed 😪
They have no problem being bent at a 90 for years.
There are only a couple of things I would do to that awesome blind. Paint or cover the inside with black or other very dark colors. Side windows where you aren't silhouetted. You know that is where that big guy will hang up.

Yes, depends on the area you put it. We can't see far to the sides. Maybe as we clear lanes, but the inside of the blind being darker has advantages.
Have a question on this build. Did you have the front of the blind set lower than the back to have it naturally slop down? Or did you use 2x6 for back of roof and 2x4 on front? Thanks.

Shingles would have been better and eliminate the deterioration of the edges of the rolled roof system
Yes, shingles and drip edge is better. I did use one length of drip edge on the high side of the roof. Because that edge is bent even more than a 90. Like I mentioned in the video, that snow and ice guard holds up a long time even being bent. I did the same on another blind 10 years ago and it's not even cracking at the bends yet. Another thing about this deer blind is that it was a difficult walk to get all the materials to the spot. That's why the walls were each in 2 sections. That snow and ice guard is so much lighter than a bundle of shingles. If I had been using regular rolled roofing, the 90 bends wouldn't hold up long at all. But that snow and ice guard is kind of rubbery. I may actually do shingles or even a metal roof at some point, but I have at least ten years to get that stuff hauled across the swamp and installed. Thanks for adding in.
Paint the inside black, and wear black when you hunt.
Yes, I always paint the interior dark. But need to wear orange.

You put the slope of your roof to your shooting windows so every time you're in there when it's raining it's going to be dripping in front of your sight line it's too bad you guys don't know how to build a proper Hut unbelievable I guess it shows anyone can put anything on UA-cam
I've done it both ways. Here is a video of another blind I did slanting the other way - ua-cam.com/video/2ufGNWo5hSQ/v-deo.html A few things I considered, with the roof slanting out the front the blind appears a little smaller from the front or at least more multi-dimensional. Not just a large flat surface. Another consideration was having the roof come down closer to the windows. This helps add a little shade to the glare of the windows. Especially when a window is being opened. Sometimes you can get a lot of glare reflections from a moving window. Also, I don't mind a little dripping, it actually helps conceal movement in the blind. Is there some trade-offs? Yes, but I've done blinds both ways and I'm not sure one is hands down better than the other.
