LG G8 Teardown - Dont Remove The Battery?!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 тра 2019
- The LG G8 is a flagship smartphone with modern features, and from the outside it looks like a winner. But what does the LG G8 look like on the inside? This Teardown of the LGG8 reveals that the battery is permanently glued into the housing, and is not replaceable. I think this is unacceptable. If you are deciding between 2 phones to buy, You should NOT buy the LG G8 until they fix their battery adhesive, and add pull tabs under the battery. Batteries dont last forever. And eventually someone is going to either replace the battery, or recycle this phone. And when that day comes... the battery needs to come out easier than this.
I will update this description if LG Changes their manufacturing process to add pull tabs or different adhesive.

It's so weird to see LG do this to their batteries. I remember loving how my LG V10 still had a removable battery during a time when even Samsung moved to non-removable batteries. LG has changed so much since then.
Barely any phone will have a removable battery
Only the outdated phones contain them
@@stephensnell1379 Samsung sells the XCover series, with water resistance AND easily removable batteries, not outdated either. It's just sad that it's just these niche phones that have that feature.

I remember recommending the G5 to my friends for this reason. Times do change quickly..
I had a G4 and by buying a new battery that I could switch on the spot I had decent battery life for a lot longer, and then they come with this shit.
It's awful, because this phone truly has some great features, the dual screen modular addition, good battery life, great RAM and processing speed for the pricepoint. When I bought this phone, it truly stood out in price to performance ratio, nothing came close. I guess there's always a catch...
LG G8 also had audiophile Sabre DAC chips and actual physical headphone jack, which sounds great. It had removable SD card slot, and I also like their camera's color rendering and overall look of photos. I've used my G8 for 3 years, and now the battery's running down faster and likely dying. Seeing this vid about glued-in battery is discouraging, as there is no equivalent mobile phone available to purchase on the market today with all the features G8 had..

The speaker is most likely a terbium alloy, which is the only metals that actually change size when exposed to magnetic fields. Often used to turn tables into loudspeakers. Think large object moving a small distance (terbium and table/screen) vs small object and large distance (speaker cone).
Thanks. thanks to you, I now know a little about IP 68 and MIL-STD-810. Today it is fashionable to have a quick battery charge, and as a result, access to a quick replacement. The heatpipe internal 'dirt' is quite important. It is sintered material that acts as a wick allowing the heatpipe to work in any orientation. Without it, the liquid-gas phase change would only work if the heat source is always positioned downhill of the pipe.
Search for how heatpipes work.
The 'dirt' in the heat pipes is most likely sintered copper powder, which is done to increase surface area, thereby increasing heat transfer

I just replaced the G820 NA 31 model's battery [using an old sun micro systems screw driver no less] and there was a thin piece of tape holding the battery on. There's also a plastic bit at the top of the battery near the tape that you can edge up if you're nervous. I thought there'd be more adhesive. Unfortunately, the stock battery started getting really fat and causing all sorts of issues after using the QI charging feature. Thanks to ifixit for the great price and quick shipping!
Looks like if you remove the rear glass, you could hit the area behind the battery (the metal structure) you could safely get some heat into the adhesive without smoking the battery. Makes the battery replacement more involved, but should reduce the risks associated with the heavy prying and bending that's necessary when removing the old battery.
