Even their lesser known songs are magical.
yes❤
Won't even try to describe it. You get it. Unreal! I've seen it live and thank God every day for my luck. Stay on the journey my new friend, it's going to change your life.
It genuinely does the heart good to see a young fella as you, Popenyco relate to music I was listening to on records and in concert way back in the day when I was a teenager. You give a fresher new perspective on Yes music in what I felt of it back then. I can appreciate that. Your reaction and commentary was spot on, even though Yes music is very integral and complex...you felt and gave it inner ardor...
I loved it when you said that when you have kids you will turn them on to YES. Just goes to show that YES music will be enjoyed by many generations to come. Maybe for all of eternity!♾
^ This.
After 47 yrs of listening to this song it still mesmerizes me. Chris and the boys could take the gambit of the human soul and lay it out for all to hear.
I was just going to reply how it still sounds great all these years later. Ahead of their time then, and still unique now.
Chris was great but it was Jon who had the vision for this grand music. This piece in particular is a Jon & Steve composition. Unfortunate that those two can no longer create together.
@Shaman Mirror Chris Squire was there from the beginning thru Yes's entirety till his passing, giving his being to Yes you can say he was YES.
^^^
All of the above. These gentlemen formulated music in ways as yet undevised by others.
This is one of the few songs that ever actually made me cry. It was after I read an interpretation of the lyrics which explained that the song is about a person dying and then passing from this plane of existence to the next, which, rather than an ending, is only the beginning of a new and wonderful journey into the afterlife. It's such an incredibly positive and optimistic message, and simply beautiful musically and vocally as well. Loved your reaction.
Really glad you pointed this out. It’s so worth knowing as you listen and let the song take you there.
As my own time nears the end, I’m happy to know what the song’s about. I’ve listened to YES for five decades. Now I’ll listen to it more intently hoping to gain some needed wisdom before I leave this plane of existence. Thank you so much.
Annie
@@blondelebanese9922 I concur. Been listening forever and never knew that about this song. Hope they are together in the afterlife. What a party.
I have always thought this song was about Death. Years ago I listened to it when I was told I was about to die. It seems that I was granted a reprieve for awhile , but all of us will get therd.
So true. Such a beautiful journey indeed to experience this music. I cry every single time regardless of who's with me
Said it before and I’ll say it again: YES is the best band in the world!!!
You will like this one. Relayer is such a good album. Enjoy the best band ever!
You are possibly my favorite reaction channel now. Yes is one of my favorite bands after The Beatles. Keep it real and I`ll continue watching!
So what did you expect from gods of Prog!!! Hahahaa.......mediocre music!!!! No. Bro. These guys are Ethereals playing "Ethereal or Heaven Music." go and listen to it 2 times in a row. then it will come to you. Now check out the first song, "the Science of God," which is the album, "Tales of The Topographic Oceans," Now that's a journey!!!! Great reactions from you. YOu have connected to YES spiritually and mentally!!!
So powerful, one of the best songs about dying I know, and I know a little bit about classical masses and requiems.
MISIX's WHOLY TRINITY: CTTE, TALES & RELAYER of YES ---THE NEXT album is where you will be utilizing all your YES experience
Going For the One IS Great, yes
Here's the thing about the best of YES's music (which this tune is a part of): it expands the mind's ability to conceive of what is possible. It takes the consciousness to a specific place (which is above the ground and has access to many previously unseen vistas, each of which demands exploration). The body is partly convinced that it is traveling with the mind; but, is also aware of being in a room somewhere listening to an electronic device. It really is like a drug--a healthy, wholesome drug; because, YES's message is, at core, an authentically healthy, wholesome one.
Watching you react to these pieces is a bit like time traveling for many of us; because, you bravely allow us to see the mind and the body respond today, in a transparent way, to that which we--and exactly how we--responded so many years ago. You also remind us, with your enthusiasm, that what we tapped into so long ago had--and has--deep and abiding value. I don't know you; but, we are kindred. Be well.
I was 19 in '74, and all these years later, it's just as fresh and inspiring as it was then. Seems the days of truly creative music, combining rock into a symphonic base are gone. SO glad to see someone so much younger than me feels much what I felt and admired from a musical age now long gone.
This is a wonderful Yes song really great. Yes music in the era from 71 to 77 was beyond music IS just as fresh, current as the day it was released and it is from a different place and time. Maybe the reason why nobody today makes music like this is because they cannot obtain that level mastery and creativity. I think you are ready to start your journey with Tales From Topographic Oceans (TFTO). For me that is their most amazing work but for others they could not get into it. One thing for sure you need to give it time. For this song; To Be Over, it is a amazing and wonderful sonic ride. Yes at their peak. I am so glad you will let this music live for the next generation too. This music needs to be alive with people for as long as there are people. It is far too good to loose. Great reaction to another Yes classic.
Do "In The Presence Of" from their 2001 album "Magnification", the absolute best of later YES. They didn't go with a big keyboard player on this. Instead, they have ORCHESTRA. It's an album very few have done "first listens" to. I guarantee you, the song will leave you "standing on holy ground". Blessings.
All the years since 1974 when I first heard Yes, I have played songs for people, yet no one I have ever met, except for maybe 2 people, have been moved.
I am pleased to see you get Taken by their Music. Some people would think that Yes fans are musical snobs, or whatever, I just got caught up since the first listen,
and I was hooked forever. I really can't understand why anyone would not Love YES. "After All Your Soul will still surrender, and after all don't doubt your part,
be ready to be Loved"
Enjoyed your comment. It’s very true. It’s like people who have NDEs who try to tell others how amazingly beautiful and powerful and real it was and nobody gets it. Can be frustrating, but Yes has legions of fans and I’m glad we are on board.
Every person that I’ve heard say they don’t like YES’s music has said some form of “it’s to busy, to much going on I can’t follow it/hear it”.
Which is exactly what I like about it.
It’s been 47 years since I first heard this album, and it sounds new every time I listen to any song!!
Of course that’s true of all music by YES!!
In my opinion!!
Somehow to these ears the song has sounded, still sounds different or new every time it’s heard. Absolutely has a beauty and power to it that is unexpectedly strong over these years. And gets better with each listen. Is there a comparable song? Only from Yes.
All the YESSONGS live versions are 🔥⚡🌋🚀👍😁
Another great reaction. After a while you might want to check out some of the band members solo albums. FISH OUT OF WATER by Chris Squire is my favorite. OLIAS OF SUNHILLOW and SONG OF SEVEN by Jon Anderson are great listens as well. Very inspirational music indeed. Take care , Popenyco❣
They were a perfect combination of the best musicians to compose the songs they did. They were like time travelers in their compositions
I was 14 when this came out I grew up listening to Yes! I i was blessed to grow up in the 60s an 70s!!
I teach to kids of 9 and they live yes music
We play it every day
And every day they discover new sounds
I can't believe what we are created
It's magic
I love this! ❤yes❤
Walking the golden path of genius........ Another thumbs up for POPE.
This song changed my view of guitar, Howe's solo scale runs are untouchable here. Fluid playing. At some point you have to react to some live Yes. If you're going to do Tales From Topographic Oceans, the live version of the TFTO song, Ritual on the YesShows album will blow you away. In fact, I'm gonna subscribe on the hope of you reacting to that! 🤞
I've seen everything in concert since 73, but I still say the Tales concert was the best!! In fact, when Jon was touring with Greene school of rock ( 15 or 16 years ago).,Greene came up to me and asked what I thought. I told him please teach them Tales. Lol
yes❤
My first Yes concert was the Relayer tour. They were at their creative best during this period.
"To Be Over"
We go sailing down the calming streams,
Drifting endlessly by the bridge.
To be over, we will see, to be over.
Do not suffer through the game of chance that plays;
Always doors to lock away your dreams.
Think it over, time will heal your fear, think it over.
Balance the thoughts that release within you.
Childlike soul dreamer.
One journey, one to seek and see in ev'ry light
Do open true pathways away.
Carrying closer,
Go gently, holding doors will open ev'ry way
You wander true pathways away.
After all your soul will still surrender.
After all don't doubt your part,
Be ready to be loved.
I love this--but omg I was so young when I heard this the first time--now, I'm 65--IM not surprised, of course 😀
You should listen to their first 2 albums. It's a different guitar and keyboard player, but both albums are wonderful.
Love your channel and your passion. Have you checked out "Perpetual Change" from the Yes Album?
I've been on my 'one journey' since listening to this as a teenager over 40 years ago and this song's positivity has guided through out my life. How's guitar says more than 1000 words. To see someone get it really makes me happy. I hope this song stays with you and ensures you reach fulfilment in your life...
After all.. your soul will still surrender.. After all, don’t doubt yourself be ready to be loved…✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
There is nothing like this from any other band or composer. It's straight up genius. Thanks for all the great reactions.
People used to compare them to other bands. They are incomparable! NOBODY like them.
There is music and then there is YESMUSIC. they created their own category!
^^^ yes this and all of it yes❤
Try to play some of their live stuff if you think the records sound amazing. Just watching them is an inspiration!
You are the YES reactor Pope! Can't wait for Tails From Topographic Oceans 💙
Same here, I am so glad to have found his reactions, he really understands and feels their music! It reminds me of how I felt nearly 50 years ago when I heard them as a child.
@@veganapiranha7365 He's OK. Usually reacts with emotional speechlessness. Understandably but there are others you give long deeper analysis on why their music is so miraculous
@@wendellwiggins3776 I listen as a fan of good music…I’m not a music critic of any sort so if you want a essay about every element of the song this won’t be your channel.
@@POPE. Well said.
@@POPE. which is exactly what I relayed to Vegana in my remarks to him. I enjoy your reactions specifically those of YES due to the fact not everyone today knows of them or can appreciate the depth of their genius which should never be forgotten
the most underrated Yes song I have loved this song since 1974
It is so under appreciated! But us Yesfans know.
Yes has more under valued deep cuts than most people are aware of, and may never actually get to hear. I’m afraid I force fed people Yes back then. I regret it much less now, but I share less, too. It’s become more of a personal joy.
Been checking out your later YES reactions and to see you have been going for the yes journey for a time now. What a treat you are putting your soul, mind and your ears too. 65 now but the journey still never gets old. Early YES from the late 60s early 70s is the real start. Been there from day one.
One of their best songs . It all fits togeather like a puzzle box .
I listen to Yes as loud as possible outside all the time. My 8 year old daughter loves it. Her favorite song is Mind Drive. We use it as our alarm clock in the morning.
Nothing like drifting along in the current in a little kayak on a lake on a summer day, and listening to this song. "We go sailing down the calming streams
Drifting endlessly by the bridge..."
You could be floating on a leaf listening to this masterpiece - certainly one of their best compositions
Genius, for sure, virtuoso musicians. Check out their solo stuff too, you will love a lot of it, I can suggest some if you'd like.
Over the years, with all the personnel changes, Yes has become not just a band but a musical ethos.
Like a master class in composition and guitar! Steve Howe = flawless. Not one wasted note or wasted SPACE. Patrick Moraz, film composer + the existing Yes = God-level classical rock. Normal reaction = Speechless, after hearing THAT. IF you love music.
Maybe the most beautiful song on this stunning album. I bought it the day it came out when I was a kid.
Perfect harmonies in the srudio! Perfect harmonies from Anderson/Squire every time I will never understand how so much beauty came from one band.
Yes ❤🙂❤
I wish I had a time machine coz I would take you to the Empire pool, Wembly, 1978. From memory this was so good. All of going for the one, Close to the edge, whole song and Gates of Delirium. You would have just loved it...🖖 Peace my man...🎼🎵🎶🎵🙏
Saw the perform Relayer 8 times during 1975, here in the 🇬🇧
Man, you'll go to listen to "Tales from Topographib Oceans" ! 4 tracks of must !
I’m sure you noticed that Yes has a lot in common with Classical music…….very complex
Hey Man, great reaction to one of their beautiful gems, check out "Going for the One" and "The Revealing Science of God" Cheers
Jon Anderson has always been watching, listening, waiting to bring us the message of love and lessons learned. Oh, his wonderous stories!!
Yes,since 1972 I've been fascinated with this band, no one else like them. Spiritual, music masters, the 70s were a magical time for Yes, they could do no wrong. Uplifting, mesmerizing, positive, greatest band I've ever seen. And I've seen them live a lot!
^ yes❤
oh man…the ending of this song is so glorious!
I can’t tell you how many times I lost myself to this album at 16 years old with the headphones on. So glad you appreciate it.
Aaahh! The song that gave me my online name!
This song was one that grew on me. At first it seemed soft and lilting with many layers, of course. But the more you listen to it , the more dynamic it seems. Steve must have utilized every stringed instrument known to man by the end of it, and each of the different guitar, mandola, sitar, and petal steel voicings seem to be telling their own individual story, yet they weave around one another so beautifully, without sounding cluttered.
gorgeous piece..
Howe was a fricken genius. VERY much a pioneer and always fearless. But it was sometimes the stuff he did in the background to add the ambience desired that stood out. This is one of those songs.
^ They know what they’re talking about.
One of Yes's (or anybody else's) most beautiful songs.
This is a song about Life Death and Hope. There is Love at the end of the journey.
Only those with open minds and open ears will listen intensely to Sound Chaser. Usually, those people are old. If young people do so, they help Yes music crossover so new generations can hear it too. Thanks for making that happen.
I intensely listen and understand Relayer. So intense the wonderment of it all.
Actually amazing. Music of a just about unique nature played by some of the greatest artists of the time. Happened virtually right in front of our faces. We are fortunate enough to know how lucky we are to have heard.
A great tune that will resonate with me for years. Terrific song. Thanks !
Good!!
YES RELAYER will blow you away dude 😳🎼🎧😁👍
You will definitely enjoy "The Ritual" by Yes from Topographic Oceans. When he sings in French, Jon is singing "Nous Somme du Soliel" (We are of the the Sun). Another Epic Song by Yes. I just subscribed, there's a lot more progressive rock to hear.
He will enjoy every piece from TALES if he has truly come to understand just how extraordinarily imaginative and sonically visceral YES music was in the early 70's
I see that all of Yes has blown your mind. Brad
Yes music finds you and when this happens it is forever
wonderful sincere reaction. welcome to the club dear chap
Now you understand - it is timeless and your life is enriched by taking time to listen and appreciate properly.
Could not agree more
Meravigliosa, assolutamente meravigliosa. Grazie Pope!!!7
Oh as always, YES genius ❤
Yes was a rock symphony band.
What a great reaction Popenyco!
This is my favorite kind of music--Sci-Fi type music--Yes--Great pics here 😀
You are my new hero--I'm Gay but That Means Nothing! LOLOL Absolutely Nothing if one thinks about it!
This song is amazing, I recommend you to react to Captain Beyond, a great hard rock band of the 70's. Some songs are Dancing Madly Backwards, and Raving River of Fear from that band, really great video, and great reaction.
If u haven’t already u should listen to some King Crimson. Bill Bruford the drummer from YES played with them from 1972-1997. If u had to listen to one song I’d recommend Starless.
How about a little candy for the mind, like Mind Drive.? Why is it nobody ever mentions keys of Ascension studio? Besides keys and magnification everything else I listen to is from the first Yes album with Peter Banks simply called Yes, Time and a word, the Yes album, Close to the edge, fragile , Tales and last but certainly not least, Going for the one. It's not that I do not like Trevor Rabin for he is a fantastic guitar player and even though Jon,Alan, Tony and Chris made many albums I still don't consider them yes for some strange reason. So for the most part I'm stuck in the 70s like many of you and I'm not complaining 😜😜😜😜😜😜 Oops I almost forgot yesterday's!!
The last part of chorus rounds made me sob like a little b**** I had a huge flood of memories this is the greatest yes song
Well I guess that I'm a little b**** too and I'm almost 67!!
Io sono cresciuto con questa musica, ero molto piccolo e mi è entrata nel cuore e non mi ha mai abbandonato durante tutto il corso della mia vita, Ho comprato praticamente tutti i vinili degli Yes. Io sono uno Yes Man.
Isn't this the best! Just rediscovered oh no by zappa. Listen to Louis Cole, and Thundercat
This gentleman bless him listens to yes rather than say rap and gets it !
Brilliant
Amazing song man.
Watch the video of "yes" live at Tongas "ritual"
Good headphones like AKG 240's will reveal even more musical details.....Emotion is in this music, perhaps more than any others.
Remember critics who used to decry a lack of emotion in their music? Immediately dismissed them as having no ear for it. lol
Prog on brother
I’m having this played at my funeral.
Yes.
Great 70’s progressive rock.
❤❤❤❤❤YES YES YES YESent from the GAWDS!
You simply don't know...yet
Amazing shirt lmao
You are switched on x
Pls play wonderous story by yes
Many years of joy. Many❤❤❤
Yes, good man, that was the question I had at the time: a real band got together and made that? HOW?
A truly Remarkable group of guys ⭐️
Beautiful
Fantastic..!!
Yes a real band got together . Do you honestly think people are lying?
Just because you come from a generation of fake musicians using fake instruments , and Autotune , don't you dare think every generation was like you !
You must listen to Silent wings of freedom off of Tormato album. Also Release, release ia also a good song.
Patrick Moraz on the keys to ascension
