Yeeewww! Thanks for all the support. Just to clarify the 15ft in the thumbnail is referring to the wave face not wave size. Locals reckon it was about 8ft surf. Glad you all enjoyed the video. Subscribe for more!
Sweet surf. Those are not 15 foot faces. Those are overhead 6-10 foot faces/waves (same thing). The very biggest set wave of the video was 10'. Except to Hawaiian imbeciles that never learned to use a ruler,....... they would be 5 foot waves to Hawaiians.
I’ve surfed it just like this. At the peak on the bigger waves, it backs off and the drop is easy. Then it starts firing. Not a good wave to shoulder hop. Similar to cloud break Fiji.
8-ft back10 ft fronts. 40 ft faces 60 ft back does it really matter I mean really I always laugh when I hear this about Hawaiian size Mainland side Oster size giant size down size it's just so funny if your family is healthy you're not homeless and you actually have a girl that gives a s*** about you and say you're pretty lucky so you get waves bro and you kind of waves it's just that much better savvy
Apart from seeing normal people surfing great waves I appreciated hearing the sounds of the ocean instead of thrashy music or in fact any music . And then to hear the rain took me back to days surfing North Avoca on a stormy rainy but glassy day. Awesome, thank you for sharing.
Such a fun wave. I remember surfing it with one other friend back in 2005 all to ourselves at sunset....I had to pinch myself. And the left around the corner. And the right inside the left. So many good memories. Warm, wet and deep!
The way the rain changed the waves after! Imagine surfing Lance's double overhead in a rainstorm That is not something I think a person would ever forget I mean this is just how it looks on our phones and PC's. To actually be in the lineup,I think I'd just be in awe watching endlessly perfect waves coming in,then drop in the wrong place and get destroyed, maybe get 1 wave ,and talk about it the rest of my life.
Very nice way to go thank you very much for sharing this nice Surf video looks like most everybody's getting along and the waves are pretty good too can't beat that over and out
Not every big barreling wave has a crazy air-drop takeoff. Even some waves at Chopes look like the take-off is pretty minor. Then some take-offs at Chopes look absolutey ridiculous, especially on your backhand.
Alot better than home here in so cal.....wish I made it to Sumatra when I went there, but Java was farthest I went east....spent most of it lombok and sumbawa....if I go back it will be sumatra
I also like this with no added music. The natural sound of the wind and waves and rain is all you need. Maybe the sound of a board shredding a wave, but that would be hard to catch unless you are really close.
What an awesome session. It's crazy how much power is coming from deep water to that reef. Many places around the world clip some of the power and speed by the time the wave actually starts breaking. (Think the US East Coast's continental shelf...) I also can't help but think of Lance, back when he was "forced" to surf sessions like that by himself for months on end....
I don't understand the comments with a wave height of 5,6,7 ft. whatever. The wave at 2:04 is breaking / falling down in 0,85 sec. The free fall formular is h = 0,5 * g * t^2 So: h = 0,5 * 9,81 (m/s^2) * (0,85 s)^2 = 3,5 m (11,5 ft). Not far away from 15 ft but definitly not 5 ft.
@@scottrobinson7360 Math means a lot but the estimation of wave height of the surfers means nothing. The wave at 2:04 is hard crashing so the crest of the wave is really falling down. Doesn't matter if it is a surfer or only water. 12 ft wave height means 6 ft amplitude. I don't think so that surfers know the formular for a harmonic swinging system Y = A * sin (wt). And the wave height is 2 * A. That's the physical definition. I'am studying physics. I know what I'am talking about.
After surfing this place 20 plus years ago, ide never even seen it in a mag until I got back. Now it's the most filmed wave in indo. No surf camps and no other boats. And I thought I was late for going to indo. Macaroni and cheese is all all I can say. The popularity is equal. I heard early surfer found a empty box of macaronis on the beach there so that's how it got it's name. I don't know if that's true but I heard it. Imagine what they found at rags. Hope it wasn't bloody
Alot of Goofy footers yeww just killing it and perfection perfect waves and it's a dream of mine and many other I am sure just insane back to back expecting different results and yet just pitted back to back which is the definition of insane samething over and over expecting different results and yet it's the same results just pitted goofy or regular footed and yet just getting shacked over and over wow!!! Well at least he had a solid excuse for the rest of the trip haha… he wasn’t stoked about the missing energy bars, nerds and energy gummies though. Almost created havoc in the camp
So many people out there trying to do the same thing seems to me like it's a recipe for disaster that somebody is going to hit somebody else with their surfboard 😬
Oh yeah, I take the drop into the barrel, it spits me out. Everyone is screaming. Then I wake up from an awesome dream to my wife telling me to get ready for work. 😔
There's no need in any conditions it's just the fact of people not giving a fck that's made surfing the way it is nowadays. Everyone thinks they're entitled The only difference is here everyone is sharing a boat or villa together and can't just paddle back to there car and drive off after they burn someone and hope they forget about it when they go back 2 weeks later

If that's 15ft it must have been 35ft tripleing up off the first point when I was there 😁 lol

Love that you left the sound of the wave in. You get a greater sense of the power and forces these people are experiencing. Great vid!

Blonde guy in the white tshirt/blue wetsuit top owned that sesh!!
The color of the waves is just amazing there.
Great to see the guy at the end get a backhand barrel without grabbing the rail and sitting on his backside.
Heaven on earth, such a beautiful wave 🌊

That guy sitting inside had the right idea, a lot of those were pinching off! Great video.
Beautiful photography, waves, rides, and wipes.
I’d love to try that slice someday.
One of the best vids I've seen in awhile. Love the fact that you just kept the original audio great choice.

Actually rather watch these types of videos than top pros where you never even see anyone paddling in. The drops actually seem pretty easy to make.

Where is this?
It looks super forgiving though I’m sure you could still need the lime at times. Not 15ft, half that but who cares really. What a wave
Easily 10-12ftt face on the bigger waves.
It is semi forgiving on take off but the inside reef if you wipeout on take off is pretty sharp and shallow, don’t wanna get caught there.
Anybody know where this is? I think I do.
I would love to do it but it's sad i can't swim
When you surf and it rains the wave gets bigger the whole time you are riding
Too true
