- MASSIVE HISTORIC SWELL I This is Supertubos - Peniche!
Get ready to witness a truly historic moment! On March 3, 2023, the waves reached epic proportions across Europe, and the legendary Supertubos did not disappoint. This was undoubtedly one of the largest swells ever recorded in the history of this iconic beach.
From Nazaré to Ericeira, Portugal was blessed with perfect waves, but it was in Peniche that the action reached its peak! Suspense filled the air as the giant swell approached. Everyone wondered if the Supertubos would withstand such energy. However, arriving before sunrise, I knew this would be a memorable day.
With the WSL World Surfing Championship about to begin and the Capitulo Perfeito of Carcavelos still fresh in memory, Portugal was bustling with activity! The world's best surfers and some talented Portuguese names couldn't resist the call of the Supertubos, providing us with moments that will go down in history.
To make this video even more special, I included spectacular aerial footage of Axel, whom I met the day before at Supertubos. And to wrap up the video, nothing better than some neatly arranged shots of the Helio "Laranja" Conde.

Ive been riding waves for the last 43 years,and all around the World from the most Famous surf spots to some almost "Secret" ones.
And since the beggining that i had that " thing" abaut Big Waves ( just love it),and after all these years surfing all knowed hot spots One thing still "Scares" me above all things. Surfing 15+ Beach Breaks.
Like this One in Portugal or Puerto Escondido...i know that might be weird,but is my personal opinion by my personal experience.
Beach Breaks when are Big,Man i get cold sweats.

And because of this footage of once in every 5 years conditions, the WSL will keep this spot on tour for another 10 years so we can watch windy closeouts. Sick waves btw.
Not true at all. Previous years have shown that we can have a contest in Supertubos with amazing waves. The problem is WSL having such short windows and out of schedule from the best swells. Take bells for instance, conditions are horrible and they shouldn’t run the contest so soon in the year
