    I have been wanting to ls swap my 1996 S10 4x4 5 speed. Good to see the manuals possible, now to find a 4x4...

    • @montehuseby1640
      @montehuseby1640  Рік тому +2

      Yes sir, you would use this same nv3500 transmission, but from a 4.3/ 5 speed 4x4 S10. You will need a flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate for a 4.8/ 5 speed silverado

    • @timthemechanix
      @timthemechanix Рік тому

      @@montehuseby1640 Yes, I have the 4.3 4x4 nv3500. And that 4.8 flywheel and clutch kit is what I need to know. This 4.3 runs great, still drive it every day. I paid 600 for this '96 3 years ago because it was missing 5th and reverse. Tore the trans down and replaced the shift fork $52 part. I did a 350 into a zr blazer for someone else and I wasn't impressed. All the work and cost of headers, radiator, oil pan... maybe if it had the 5sp instead of auto, because this 4.3 with 5sp beats the 350 auto off the line. Thanks again.

      Also, just today I bought a '92 Blazer 4x4 v6 vin z with a 5 speed in pretty good shape and drove it 35 miles home at 80mph for $1000. Have to id the trans in it.@@montehuseby1640

      @timthemechanix I have a 4.3 5 speed s10 too, they're pretty rare. Mines 2wd though, I love that little truck but I messed up the engine in it, it still runs but it knocks and squeals like crazy, you can't kill the 4.3. I really want to LS/350 swap it.

    • @timthemechanix
      @timthemechanix Рік тому +1

      Do you know if it has the nv3500 5 speed? They say some come with a different 5speed. I know this one is tough as nails and the same that comes behind the big v8's. I bought this one and sold a ''94 that came with a vortec v6 that had tbi. The engine had thrown rod and I found it unusual because the vortec heads on later 4.3 had spider injectors and I would have had to change ecms. Also the '94 vortec had a metal timing cover without crank sensor, so I put the .94 heads onto a 1999 4.3, then used the metal timing cover after a few mods. Ignition system was also the pre-spider with cap wire pointing upward. It also had the 5 speed with manual shift trans case. But the only way I would install an LS on a manual trans would be remove the front clip and cab. 2 wheel not so bad, I guess but 4x4 is too much.@@AndrewPruteanu
