  • This is part 1 on the Kenwood TS120S tranceiver A Classic good working rig from 1980 showing some of the steps in maintaining an older rig or tranceiver. The TS120S has a free running VFO and will normally drift a tiny bit I did not find this to be a problem the frift is small ,easy to retune in a station and a good warm up period helps just turn the TS120S on about 20 minutes before getting on the air .

Mr. Bob how are you doing?
I'm sorry to disagree with you a bit.
But motor oil could be really good and useful on bearing on VFO but NOT for faders/potentiometer such Audio Pot and so.
Nothing with oil in there. A nice small wash with contact cleaner and moving it back and forth will be enough to clean them all.
