Forest pollution in Königs Wusterhausen, 1982

In Königs Wusterhausen in 1982, there are almost 160 illegal rubbish dumps where GDR citizens dispose of household rubbish and bulky waste in the forest without permission. Despite controls by volunteer forestry workers and foresters, the pollution gets worse and worse. Animals and trees suffer, fires start and there is a threat of groundwater pollution. The magazine "Prisma" asks the district and the forestry companies how waste collection can be better organised.
