    For the SP C2H vs the sp3 CH3, shouldn't we consider resonance? So for the first one, one possible resonance form is the other carbon (leftmost) having the positive charge instead. Would this not be more stable?

      Wow! You actually might be right that is a great point you bring up! My intention was to compare the electron orbital of sp vs sp3 which is hard to compare without confounders like resonance, but your point is absolutely legit as far as I can tell

      Yeah I think ethane vs ethyne would be a better comparison since both can do hydride shifts to spread out the positive charge. I don't think you want to give any suggestion methyl cation is stable.
