Sleep paralysis is not an illness. It IS terrifying and i suffer from sleep paralysis for years but i would call it more of a disorder than an illness

Diseases can kill you/damage your body organs, make you sick, disorders though awful (anxiety, bi-polar, dyslexia) aren't life threatening.

Not to downplay mental health in anyway it's very serious and can affect peoples lives horribly.

Sarah Hyland's body rejected her dad's kidney and she went on dialysis, that's 4 hours 3 times a week to clean the fluids and toxins from your body. Her brother gave her a kidney so she has had a second transplant. Plus Sarah has endometriosis. She is such a fighter, such an inspiration.

My name is Bella Thorne, and this is the story of the time I found out I had dyslexia. I remember when I started first grade. Right away, it was awful because I couldn't read as well as the other kids. My brain mixed up letters like b and d and m and w. Dyslexia is different for EVERYONE who has it. For me, it just made it harder to read or write. I started working really hard on how to read better. My family helped me by making me read everything from menus, to cereal boxes, to road signs. Today, I read a year above my grade level. And I learned to face my problems, not run away from them. Dyslexia makes things hard for me but, not impossible. You just watched a TTI, on Disney Channel

This video is effed up in several ways. First, deafness is not an illness. You can't die from a hearing loss. Dyslexia is not an illness either, it's a learning disability. Learning disabilities can't kill you. And how is synesthesia an illness? It doesn't adversely affect yourself or anything else. It's just a different way of thinking and remembering. People need to learn what an illness really is.

    • @menaspencer1687

I’m laughing at the people calling Type 1 Diabetes not serious because they most likely have no clue what it actually is and what comes with it. It’s not just eating sugar whenever you want. It’s passing out, possible seizures, and lots of doctor trips. It’s not fun and it’s not cool

    • @Chaotic.Clumsy
      @Chaotic.Clumsy 5 років тому +58

I just a few months ago started reading into type 1 diabetes and watching video's of people who have it and I agree. It's such an awful condition not just because it's really dangerous and you have zero freedom but also because people continuously underestimate it and think that you can only get diabetes by not living healthy and people especially with type 1 diabetes couldn't have done a thing to stop them from getting diabetes. It's so stupid that people don't educate themselves about things before commenting about them.

Rebecca Shanks please educate yourself. Why do we see the need to “rank” illnesses!? Tachycardia isn’t as simple as just taking your medication. I have many illnesses and a form of “tachycardia” being one. Specifically something called “postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome” it’s not as simple as taking medication. Most of them don’t help, and we have to turn to things like IVIG infusions for relief. The name may seem like it’s JUST tachycardia but actually ask someone how it affects them.... it’s hell and stops your life. Let’s stop saying one illness is worse than the other. Invisible illness is tough as it is. Everything effects everyone differently let’s just support one another💓

The severity of the seizures varies from person to person.. some people seize for so long that they go into a coma and never wake up because their brain stopped getting oxygen.. many times I’ve woken up from grande mal seizures and not known who I was. Sometimes it wears off, sometimes it doesn’t. It sounds like you’re lucky that yours haven’t been too bad. But they can definitely kill you if they go on too long.

Ryan Carmicle I agree so much with your statements. I have hashimoto’s which led to hypothyroidism and it’s weight fluctuation, it’s fatigue, it’s hair loss, it’s depression/anxiety. It’s taking medicine and getting blood drawn constantly to make sure you’re doing okay. It’s not as bad as others but you’re totally right saying it’s extremely inaccurate to say it’s only acne and weight fluctuation. It’s so much more than that.

Knowing now that Lorde has synesthesia makes so much sense. As a synesthete myself, I totally get it now. Her music often sounds a little out of place almost, with very little sense sometimes, but knowing her senses get blended it all makes sense now. That's wonderful (I love Lorde)

Billie Ellish has also been diagnosed with synaesthesia. I am rather fascinated by this diagnosis but don't fully understand exactly what it is that contributes to this condition. I hope that I don't sound ignorant but does it result from damage to certain regions within the brain that result in differences in processing information e.g, sounds, sights etc.

As someone with Hashimoto’s, this made it seem like a small disease that just makes you breakout and gain weight. Hashimoto’s is much more complicated than that as it also impacts: blood pressure, body temperature regulation, heart health, memory, circulation, eyesight, hair growth/loss, muscle weakness/aches, food intolerance (gluten, dairy, etc), severe fatigue, peripheral neuropathy, depression, anxiety, vitamin B-12 absorption, vitamin D absorption, sex drive, fertility, and the list goes on.
I don’t wish this illness on anyone -
It took away my ability to work for 3 years, it had me bedridden all of 2016, it destroyed my confidence, and it nearly took my life. It’s been a long battle, but I’m winning.💜

The only thing that’s annoying about this illness is that it can lead to things like OCD, for example, in a minor case, when I go to school, all of my binders and notebooks have to be colour coordinated as to what I see that subject as. For ex. Math must be red, and science must be dark blue, etc. If it’s not, well let’s just say that things end badly.

Half of these aren't 'serious illnesses' for example dyslexia is not a serious illness that will kill you it is a learning disability. Lupus is a serious illness though because it can kill you and requires medication and operations etc, to prevent you from dying. I am in no way saying that any of these issues people face are not important they all are and have their own struggles but labelling them as 'serious illnesses' is really out of perspective and miseducates people.

pennyjham I know plenty of people who are dyslexic and have much worse learning disabilities, I have family members with disabilities and they are far from suicidal, trouble reading is not something that is going to make someone suicidal when we live in a day an age in which people can get by without the ability to read clearly and easily with the help of technology. Back to my initial comment dyslexia is not an illness it is a learning disability. To say someone can develop a mental illness from dyslexia is stating that they have a mental illness, dyslexia is not the illness in that scenario.

I have dyslexia which has lead onto depression anxiety and ptsd. It can lead to suicide and suicide attempts. It is serious as it's not just not being able to read. Left and right get mixed up in your head and words move all over the place which can fill you with anxiety. I'm terrified of myself because of my dyslexia. It makes you think your weird and incapable even though you aren't so why isn't it serious??

    • @nicoleklaassen821
      @nicoleklaassen821 6 років тому +1

Libby'sDancingWorld This comes down to my initial statement, dyslexia is not an illness and this video was titled using the word illness. Therefore this video mis titled a number conditions included in this video such as dyslexia. Dyslexia is a learning disability not an illness as an illness is defined as a disease or period of sickness affecting the body or mind, but a disability is defined as a physical or mental condition that limits a person's movements, senses, or activities. This shows that dyslexia is not a disease. Secondly, as seen in my second point, if a learning disability leads to a mental illness then you have an illness, the cause of the illness does not become the illness too. If dyslexia leads to you having depression then the dyslexia is not the illness it is a factor or cause of an illness. That is why I stated that it was not a serious illness because by definition dyslexia is a learning disability and dyslexia itself cannot threaten your life.

I have mild scoliosis(about 15 degrees bottom and 12 degrees up) diagnosed at 11(now I’m 16) ,but I can’t tell that I’m really affected by that. In fact for me was a wake-up call that I need to change my lifestyle I was sedentary, chubby and really not healthy back then. For me scoliosis was my biggest motivation for eating healthy and for working out 5 or 6 days a week. Look,I know that scoliosis can be a hard battle for a lot of people(and I know people who had surgery),but I’m just sharing my personal story, because it helped me overcome some insecurities and help me realize how important taking care of your body is.
Moreover, for The last year my mother noticed weird changes in my behaviour and shit, and in January 2019 I was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 disorder.
Honestly, these celebrities here are incredibly inspirational, but we shouldn’t raise awareness about some type of illness only when we hear celebrities talk about it. Yes,they play a major role as there are everyone’s idols,but...

I totally understand Lorde's disorder!! The best way to describe how the neurological disorder works is that it's all about your brain signals to your entire body. In her case, it effects her brain on a learning level. The reason I understand it is because I have something not similar to her, but adjacent to her problem. My neurological disorder is the pathway from the brain to the lungs. This took doctors a long time to diagnose because I would hold my breath until I passed out, and it seriously looked like I was having seasures until I ended up getting monitored for about three days.
As an adult, I've mastered my coordination with my brain and have learned to function around this problem. When I started taking exercise seriously I quickly discovered that rhythmic breathing helps before I start my day. I am thankful that my mother fought with me in my fight to fix my breathing situation and my Asperger's, or else I wouldn't be the person I am today.

Lyme disease is caused by bacteria that you can get when you are bitten by an infected tick. It's not autoimmune and it can be cured with antibiotics.
Chronic Lyme disease or post Lyme disease syndrome however is harder to treat. This is when some symptoms remain after receiving treatment. Is this what you are referring to when you say that it can be cured?
I had both. Three years of Lyme disease and one year of chronic Lyme disease and apart from a still weak point on my balance and mental trauma that I am still working on, I am 100% cured.
So I think I know what I am talking about. Not a doctor though, so if someone knows I'm wrong. Let me know

You can still live a very normal life with most of these diseases and disorders. Most of these don't even effect you in your day to day life. I'm not making light of these but the way they are talking about these they are acting like these are actually disabling to them. I say this because I actually have most of these issues, including endometriosis, chronic migraines and headaches, dyslexia, Fibromyalgia, arthritis in my lower back, hands, hips and possibly my knees, IBS, uncontrolled High blood pressure, "sleep paralysis", Tachycardia, irregular heartbeat, Reynard's disease, light sensitivity, restless leg syndrome, and an undiagnosed autoimmune disorder that is possibly Lupus. The ones that keep me in bed because I physically can't walk or interrupts my life to the point I no longer have a "life" due to the constant pain I'm in, is the autoimmune disorder that may be Lupus, Fibromyalgia, the arthritis, my migraines when I get one and the endometriosis. The other stuff you can not only live a normal life but an extraordinary life. Again I'm not trying to down play these people's health issues but the are health issues that you can go on living a normal life that doesn't make you disabled, then there are health problems that make you disabled. Most of the people in this video had extremely minor health issues, that is my problem with this video.

I have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 4. It was rough for such a young child to live month to the hospital and not knowing why and having all this problems with weight and food and body in general, but also with soul and nerves cause everybody say that I can't control my anger but they don't understand that this happens because of diabetes . They also don't know that everyday people with diabetes try to survive from the danger of dying , because it's easy to fall in coma or to have your brain ready to explode . They know nothing about it and they keep saying : "At least you don't have cancer " or " You ate lots of sugar right ?"or "you can just eat healthy and exercise " . It's not that easy . And now that I know that a person like Nick Jonas has diabetes I know that I can do whatever I want , even if it's kinda dangerous . And even if I want to be a musician , I decided to be a doctor for children with diabetes. That's all I had to say .
P.S. The next time you'll meet a person with diabetes help him and don't eat that much in front of him . It's really hard .

Being someone with it scoliosis is not an illness but rather a medical condition

Kelly Forester i don’t really care for the Kardashian’s, so I’m not sayin this to just back them up, but sleep paralysis can be very terrifying. My best friend has it and there’s been times they slept over and I can’t do anything to help when they wake up and can’t move. If I help then he just sees me as some dark creepy figure with long fingers and a knife. He can’t move, he can’t scream. All I hear is heavy breathing. This disorder can then lead to insomnia, which will then lead to other disorders

She is still a human, just because she spoke out about her struggle doesn’t mean that shes a horrible person that is in aware that people are dying. Some people are too quick to judge others

What about Avril Lavigne when she had Lyme disease

I thought Lyme Disease was spread via tick bites and all you had to do was take antibiotics for 3-4 weeks and it just causes fatigue and muscle pain... my dad had it and was fine within a few months so please correct me if I'm wrong but i didn't think it was that serious.

eveloux lymes disease can be deadly, my uncle just got diagnosed with it but at first the doctors thought he might have had cancer. He had lost 120 pounds in four months, he couldn't take more than 10 steps with out losing his balance, he slept upwards of 20 hours a day and was still exhausted. Some people get lesions in their brain or it infects their spinal fluid and can paralyze them. Lymes needs so much more awareness than it gets, it's made out go seem like no big deal but it really is if its left untreated for too long.

eveloux I've had Lyme disease my whole life. I understand how you came to that conclusion, Lyme patients have been failed by the medical system. I've nearly died from this. I'm 22 and have arthritis in my joints, trouble breathing, permanent nerve damage, and soooo much more.. it's devastating. Not everyone is affected this way-- some people catch it soon and can heal but if you don't.... You're in for year to maybe a life of suffering.

Just watched this, I'm a reading specialist and dyslexia though difficult to deal with is not life threatening or a disease. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Mast Cell Disease (my body breaks out and goes into anaphylaxis for no reason), severe Scoliosis, sleep apnea, narcolepsy and am an anorexia survivor.
