I don't think many realize just how important her influence is. Because she is so beautiful, smart, kind, etc. she shows that bad things can happen to literally anyone, no matter what you do. She also shines a light on lupus, a mysterious illness that is often misdiagnosed as CFS. I suffered from weight gain due to anti depressants and I went through many chronic illnesses like adrenal fatigue, Tietze, leaky gut and iron deficiency. My dad has lupus and my brother only has one kidney so she gave me the idea to get tested for lupus myself! Thank you Selena.

I grew up with Selena and see how my body has changed and I think I just realize people don't accept any sort of deviation from your teenage body. I met Selena in the early 2000's on the set of Wizards of Waverly Place and I told her she was my favorite, to which she replied "Oh, I don't deserve that". I've looked up to her grace and humility ever since, and she keeps surprising me with her strength in being so real and vulnerable. She is an example of maturity and kindness that we need in this society, I love her!

I have lupus and it's a struggle to even be able to walk and function some days. Selena is a 30 year old woman not a 13 year old girl. Grown women have curves (especially us women of color). I'm so proud of her for not giving into malicious ignorant fools and trying to starve herself to fit unrealistic beauty standards. Kudos Selena 💜

I have RA, during a flare up I was put on prednisone which caused a 'plate face orangutangue' look. At one point I had a allergic reaction to a medication, I was severely anemic and due to my RA affecting my jaws I wasnt able to eat much for 12 wks plus I didnt have a appetite. Sooo round puffy face skin n bones, extremely pale with large raised purplish hives all over my body. I felt like a leper😢

True beauty comes from deep inside, and Selena has more then enough. For the body side, she's gone from being the cute girl who grew up in the public eye, to a stunning woman who holds herself with grace and poise. From the red blooded male perspective, dang, she fine with curves, one powerful figure of a woman.
She's done amazing things given her transplant/rejection meds/lupus. Just phenomenal. It's honestly none of our business about her meds/weight changes. Grateful she's alive. Grateful she's a great role model.
Love Selena, autoimmune disease is no walk in the park. The meds can be very bizarre in changing your body. No shame. She steps forward and is helping so many of us through her positivity and care for others. Amazing human being.
Hashimoto's disease here. It's horrible. Sometimes I get to be so skinny, and other times fat. It's horrible and I can't control it. I get comments like "ohh skinny you look better", "ohh you look better with more weight on", "are you anorexic on recovery?". People can be cruel and most of them don't even have a clue that I have faced seasons where I'm hospitalized and I've been near death.
Yes I took cortisol for adrenal fatigue and it is mean. Misdiagnosis is another yummy one.

Selena has been through so much and is such an inspiration, I’m glad there is someone like her that is so vulnerable and candid. Nobody realises how much health issues affect the body until they go through it. It’s so cruel how people have attacked this woman during all her health struggles and she has still continued to stay strong.

I’m not overweight but, I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome “IBS”, and due to that I am always bloated. I’m constantly asked if I’m pregnant particularly after having a meal. The first hundred times I didn’t get a offended because I understood why people asked but, after a thousand times of people asking it hurts.
Selena we love you, you are beautiful inside and out. I have CKD 4, 1 kidney functions at 40 percent on bypass. The weight I gain from the water weight. All the surgery, the pain. Born with it. What an inspiration. I am a 47 yr old woman with a chronic condition and the struggle that it does to your body, life, and mind is so very difficult. To see Selena live with so many hurdles and be thriving gives me at 47 inspiration.

It is NEVER ok to comment on someone else's appearance, whether it is weight gain, weight loss, some wrinkles or grey hair. You never know how your comment can affect the person you are talking to or about.
I experienced this first hand when I was suffering from anorexia, I clearly remember how every comment about how thin I had become was like a stab in my heart and made me want to be invisible. When I was recovering I gained a couple of kilos - and it showed apparently, cause everyone kept on asking me if I was pregnant. Not only this slowed down my recovery A LOT, but at the same time I was also suffering cause I was told that I couldn't have children.

I’m undergoing chemo therapy for my stage 4 breast cancer at 25 years old. I had to be put on Decadron, a steroid, to get the swelling in my brain to shrink due to the lesions I had in there. I gained up to 220 pounds and had the face of a chipmunk. It was horrible knowing I couldn’t control it. Now I’m down to 160 due to chemo making me nauseous. I’m losing weight faster than ever but not in a healthy way. Our body weight should not define us. We are all beautiful and should all be happy to wake up every morning.

People really don't know how hard lupus is to deal with, it's a shitty autoimmune disorder that was genetically inherited through my mum's side of the family. The most noticeable part about it IMO is probably the appearance. People think it's so easy to change and deal with and it really is not. Taking care of my sister when she was recovering from going through remission for over 6 months was the biggest eye-opener for me

I, mother struggling with chronic health issues for decades, was compared with the physique of my healthy 13 y.o daughter once. It’s insane. Especially since I look 5-10 yrs younger than the average woman my age and my dress size is average for my age. These projections and marketing strategies are toxic.
Don’t be fooled by the marketing psychology of unhealthy products in stores, healthy vitamin & mineral rich foods are much more expensive, and place in the least accessible isles in a store. Ain’t that a surprise. 🤔

I 100% feel her pain! Ive been on prednisone to keep my Lupus in check for years. I was always the skinny girl, 103 was my normal weight. In my early to mid 30s i gained up to 145lbs!!! My face is round, i dont even recognize my face in the mirror.
I’m back on it tonight. My flare hit a new pain level high, and I’ve been stuck in bed for 4 days. It sucks. I can’t imagine how Selena does all the things she does even with an entourage. There’s so much the body just won’t do. #lupussucks 💜🥄🥄🥄🥄

When I was diagnosed with a condition and I felt like I lost everything I'm not gonna live a normal life again, then I saw salena and some other celebrities with similar conditions who shared their stories. It gave me hope at that time.and now I'm doing so much better.
