No matter how much he says he isnt gonna change in his songs if you actually followed him you would know that he did change he is one of the few rappers from his generation that is still here. He cares about his music and staying out of trouble and he has succeeded on that for the most part lol
As a major chief keef fan, I was definitely tweakin when you started off unsure with his music lol. Glad you opened up to it all. Yes, Chief Keef is considered drill, but he's also thrown under trap and other genres as well. If you listen to more of his music though, you would be surprised how versatile and experimental he is. And these versatility/experiential differences are easily heard in his "sound". Each album will be different from the last and in each of those albums, he will stay consistent to the current sound he is experiementing with, while typically having a song or 2 that doesn't quite fit in. So I think you would find it facinating how an artist can change his sound so much, while lyrically, staying within a range of what he usually raps about. He does grow lyrically too, but his real growth is with his sound. He eventually starts producing his own beats which helps with that also.
I wouldnt even consider finally rich a drill album besides a couple songs.. his old tapes were.. and a few of his tapes after finally rich were but finally rich isnt really drill imo

I dont know how much you know about Drill Music. But its definitely the most controversial subgenre of rap. Unlike gangsta rap from the 80s and 90s which was probably just as controversial back then drill music contains specific crimes being mentioned and Chief Keef and the chicago drill movement started dissing their " opp s " people from enemy gangs. I see it as problematic but its a part of their environement But I think you should atleast know what they talk about or rather who they diss .Drill music has developed insanely from chicago into other countries to the UK and other US Cities. Sosa was a tremendous force in hip-hop (still is) because he was an entirely new sound between his uniquely "this is me" style and Young Chop's out there production when their songs began finding people up to Finally Rich being out. It's still a fantastic record in 2024 but it can't be worded how huge it was in the early 10's. It's the reason why people, even to this day, learned about the gang wars in Southside Chicago to the point that everyday people have opinions on literal street business in a place they've never been before when it comes to killings, origin stories of beefs, all of that, and Sosa blowing up was the impetus of all of it which is a wild aside but very relevant. I remember one of my friends visiting my apartment in 2012 and excitedly blowing this song up in his car on repeat and I vividly recall thinking, "Oh no, this is something different" way before Finally Rich came out. Then I dug back into his DJ Kenn era and Chop mixtapes and "Save That Shit" is still my favorite song of his whole discography because it's peak him and Young Chop production preceding Finally Rich. I'm happy you got to dig deep on this record, it really is a classic.

I dont know how much you know about Drill Music. But its definitely the most controversial subgenre of rap. Unlike gangsta rap from the 80s and 90s which was probably just as controversial back then drill music contains specific crimes being mentioned and Chief Keef and the chicago drill movement started dissing their " opp s " people from enemy gangs. I see it as problematic but its a part of their environement But I think you should atleast know what they talk about or rather who they diss .Drill music has developed insanely from chicago into other countries to the UK and other US Cities. I suggest you go a little bit more into the beef of the gangs to understand when they diss dead people and you learn about the lingo and history of drill music over the years. I cant wait for xou to hear pop smoke and King Von.

Chief keef raps over some ambient stuff too hahah Flexin is ambient and cops off BFTD2 is ambient drill pretty much, such a weird feeling but he pulls it off very well

Sosa was a tremendous force in hip-hop (still is) because he was an entirely new sound between his uniquely "this is me" style and Young Chop's out there production when their songs began finding people up to Finally Rich being out. It's still a fantastic record in 2024 but it can't be worded how huge it was in the early 10's. It's the reason why people, even to this day, learned about the gang wars in Southside Chicago to the point that everyday people have opinions on literal street business in a place they've never been before when it comes to killings, origin stories of beefs, all of that, and Sosa blowing up was the impetus of all of it which is a wild aside but very relevant. I remember one of my friends visiting my apartment in 2012 and excitedly blowing this song up in his car on repeat and I vividly recall thinking, "Oh no, this is something different" way before Finally Rich came out. Then I dug back into his DJ Kenn era and Chop mixtapes and "Save That Shit" is still my favorite song of his whole discography because it's peak him and Young Chop production preceding Finally Rich. I'm happy you got to dig deep on this record, it really is a classic.

I was a freshman when this Album dropped. Me & my big cuz would just let the album play while we playing gta & smoking or be chillin with friends mannnn memories 2013 was one of them years
People hear the name Chief Keef and would discredit him. But truth be told he's responsible for bringing an entire genre to the mainstream. One of the best debut albums ever. A lot of new rappers are just Chief Keef 2.0s
So about the money thing. I think it’s also about what you value. A lot of us come from background where money was the only thing we saw as valuable and spending it on clothes and stuff. A lot of people like to wear their wealth and not just save it yk.
