Jeff, you are the only abandoned mine explorer that explains what was going on. So many other of these guys don't have a clue what is going on in a mine. Thank you for putting this out.
Wow...excellent video Jeff. My father worked as a minor in Utah when he came to this country in the 1930's. All he ever said about this was that it was hard work. Man.....what an understatement! Thanks for showing what the old time minors went through. Looking forward to part 2.
Not only was it hard work it was dark work. The only light they had to work by was carbide lamps even when operating a drill you had to work more by feel then sight. A working mine is generally at 99-100 percent humidity even with air added just off the amount of water from the better drills. They also couldn't hear well in the mines as everything was both loud and only had narrow paths to travel so could go far. A voice will not travel far so communication was limited to line of sight using the lamps.
Firstly I'd like to give you a big shout out Australian style..... G'DAY MATE !!!!! lol, that's the best we got D'ya know what I enjoy the most about your videos Jeff... apart from the knowledge, experience and all the shiney. That when your talking facts and making these videos, your like a little kid in a candy store, or a kid who just had his first kiss.... The genuine excitement you exhibit is so authentic you have me bouncing in my chair and hanging for the next instalment. Mate keep up the good work and one day soon I'll have saved enough pennies to make the long pilgrimage from Australia down to to where ever it is that you'll probably have a tour going and finally get first hand the sheer excitement you instil into your viewers. Take care, stay safe and keep these videos coming.....
Watching old videos so cool glad you talk safe mining was a young boy in Pennsylvania in mid 70s mind coal with my father to heat the house always had fun thanks Jeff
See? This is the kind of video you produce that I really enjoy, actually explaining how mining was done, took of the trade, etc. Not all the gold nugget give-away nonsense. Well done Jeff! Keep it up!
WHAT A COOL VIDEO JEFF!!! I've seen so many of these mine explores on UA-cam but never with your kind of insight and knowledge to go along with. It's so damn interesting! Hope you can squeeze in some more mine explores in the future, so cool to go down in an old mine with an old miner!
Dang. Thank you for all you and your crew do in these videos. They are SO packed full of information from every single aspect of what to do/look for. I just decided a few weeks ago to start looking into this type of stuff and I am thrilled to find your videos. Thank you all of you guys again for all the information you provide to all of us even though you don't have to. Very great people.
I saw a video of the Midas mine the other week. man....gold mine with silver as a waste material. that's nice. It was showing how the Nevada deposits are different from the California deposits. Said that they formed from hot springs instead of plate or faults on the coast. pretty neat.
I think if I watch five of these videos a day and start taking notes I could actually mine an existing mine but understand the process to cut a mine toooo. These videos are so educational yet fun to watch. Jeff thats getting it done Son!
g knight that would have been awesome!!!!! I would probably be mining and prospecting if he was. Now I build boats. But man I have always been drawn to rocks and crystals since I can remember!! Definitely god back to the early 90s
Did you ever wonder what amount of gold was left behind on all that you're walking on?Just a thought. You are a professor of mineing 101 for sure .Love all your videos.Keep up the good work Jeff.
Thank you for another great video about mines, Jeff and the crew. Appreciate this. And by the way, I've discovered four "new" feldspar mines where I live. And I'll bring the kids out to look for gold and crystals;) Greetings from Norway.
Great video Jeff, looks like a time capsule mine , shut down for WW2 and forgot about after the war and pretty much untouched in a long time . Ill post it on my FB page for all to see.
Hey Jeff I ran into one of your viewers when I was out exploring old mining camps in Central NV yesterday. So you get mentioned on my upcoming video of the "Rockland" mining camp. He's a prospector and we even did a little panning while at the mill site. I'll send you a link when the video comes out.
Great episode Jeff! It's super neat to explore mines where some of the equipment is still in place. Pretty rare to find them though. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Found a couple of more mines outside Tonopah to explore later this month. Should be good fun!
Man! This was a really well done video. I think I learned more in this 17 minutes, on how old school mining was done, than the months of watching others.
That was awesome. ..Thanks for showing that old equipment and mine.Slim might a hit that place up...Never know. ..&).Thanks for sharing. ..those old miners had it ruff. .working hard playing harder..&)
cool video Jeff this what I like exploring , nice fines , nice ore car can be taken apart very easily and transported the old timers was good doing this adjustable wrench and pliers. thanks my friend

Jeff might be a miner educator, but he's major awesome! great stuff yet again! That mine is amazing! so much history! and having some of the equipment left behind helped to make this vid extra educational! Thanks!
That was a really good one. Excellent information and history. Those guys were REAL MEN to work down in those mines. I really enjoy and i'll tell ya, you get me going on that "gold fever train" lol. I live in Georgia (yes there is gold in ga) but I'm in sac ca. and i want to go up to the mts SO bad cause "there's GOLD in them hills!" Totally awesome!! Your knowledge of mining history, and geology keep me coming back!! I would loved to have heard from Slim, but I am sure his rheumatism is acting up!!!
Thank you very much for sharing this valuable information. My only concern is that you are breathing lots of dust during the film of video. My second concern is that I don't see ground support. Just be sure that ground is safe before entering. Good Job !
Jeff man I love your passion for geology and prospecting. We're similar in that I can tell you love the thrill of the hunt. I just became a premium patron a couple of days ago and I fully support your mission. After finding pretty good gold in Colorado I'm going to start traveling to prospect full time starting this winter. Thanks Jeff! Always educational! You should have put Slim in that ore care and dumped his bony ass out to show us how the ore was dumped! LOL! Looking forward to the #2!
Jeff, you are the only abandoned mine explorer that explains what was going on. So many other of these guys don't have a clue what is going on in a mine. Thank you for putting this out.
VERY true. And thank you for the tour, too, Jeff.
Laying here recovering from a couple of broken ribs, you made my day!
Wow...excellent video Jeff. My father worked as a minor in Utah when he came to this country in the 1930's. All he ever said about this was that it was hard work. Man.....what an understatement! Thanks for showing what the old time minors went through. Looking forward to part 2.

Mike Long I'm working in the area in Oregon that was formed by Hot Springs or whatever lay down all of this calcite and it still soft.
Now that's what I call an educating tour of a gold mine.
I think if I watch five of these videos a day and start taking notes I could actually mine an existing mine but understand the process to cut a mine toooo. These videos are so educational yet fun to watch. Jeff thats getting it done Son!

Great video as always Jeff! You need to haul that ore cart and the track back to Slim's Pickens. Judging by the rivets that is a pretty early cart.
I really hope you took over that old mine.... looks like theres still pay dirt to be had in there for a small operator.
You have super air flow too. I appreciate all your vids . for ones like this at least the name of the state would be sweet.....lets go!!!!
Thanks Jeff! Always educational!
You should have put Slim in that ore care and dumped his bony ass out to show us how the ore was dumped! LOL!
