  • Originally performed at my Arangetram (dance graduation) and repeated at multiple venues after, this was a true test for me-to move the audience to tears. It is a dance of pure abhinaya (expressions and emotions) and a great jugal-bandi (fusion) between the dancer and the musicians, especially the mridangist (double-sided drum). The piece depicts Saint Meera's devotion to Lord Krishna as she narrates one of the most important scenes from the Mahabharata (one of the two biggest Indian epics), the court and dice scene.
This particular performance called Ekaanki (meaning solo) was also for a fundraiser for underprivileged school girls in DC.
