I agree with Manajro not being Arch. It is important that you dont go into Manajro treying to use it like Arch and throw a bunch of AUR packages onto it. Only use the AUR if you cannot find the package any other way. And DONT use it for any system critical package like for example window manager packages. Thats when Manjaro may well break. If you use Manajro like it is meant to be used its as reliable as any other distro and a perfectly good distro.
I picked Manjaro as I felt I was ready for something more advanced than Mint or other Ubuntu based distros. I tried Endeavour but it broke 3 times in 3 weeks due to updates. I tried vanilla Arch and it also broke plus I just don't have the interest or time to configure it. For me and my use case I find Manjaro just fits. I don't have any issues with it. It doesn't break as often as other Arch based distros. I have been using Manjaro now for over 2 years and in that time it broke once due to an update.
I guess breakages are down to what you install and when you install it from and all of that is all down to use case.
Great video about Manjaro 👍. I use Manjaro KDE and am very happy with it. And gaming works great too.
The kernel installation and switching mentioned at @9:05 is what sold me on Manjaro for my needs. I'm not sure how much this affects newer GPUs, but any time a kernel update is released, there is a huge chance of it breaking the nvidia driver on my older Lenovo ThinkPads. When this happens, you can change to an older kernel version (that still works with the driver) with just a click and a reboot, and be on your way.
I was using Manjaro for weeks without knowing I could enable AUR. The install was flawless and landing on the desktop being prompted to press F12 if I needed the terminal.. very refreshing. I never treated it like arch but an OS I had to learn and it never broke on me. The only reason I moved from it was the distribution hoping itch and I went to endeavour and instantly broke it on day one. I’ll be restoring a backup tomorrow and rejoining the green team 😂
I started out using manjaro when I decided I was done with windows like 6 months ago. The only issue I had was my 32in monitor kept trying to shrink to my 24in monitor and would lock up. Switched to arch, been there since. Manjaro worked for everything that I did with it.
I just switched to Manjaro a couple weeks ago on 3 gaming PCs from being on Debian based distros for 7 years, so far so good but they each only have 1 or 2 aur packages installed
for gaming performance and also stability what do you recommend between cachyos and manjaro?

I'm brand new to Linux and have been using Linux mint. I primarily only game, should I use another distro? Been really interested in endevear but kinda scared since I'm so new to Linux. What are your thoughts?
Have used Mint for over a decade but only recently switched all my gaming to it (i did try Nobara for a month but went back to Mint), i would suggest staying with Mint until you get comfortable (or fed up) with it and then decide if it's good for you or you want to change distro.
My games work on Mint so i'm happy enough, only the games matter. 🙂👍
I know this is a bit surprising but could you do a review of Rocky Linux for gaming and content creation?
Few years back I daily drove manjaro for over a year as it was claimed to be a good introduction to arch however after moving to arch and endeavour I realised that manjaro was magnitudes more complex, prone to breaking and introduced a degree of needless paranoia.
It has a nice design, but i still prefer arch😅 Manjaro is cool option for those who want to swtich from debian to arch based distros

This is a pretty funny video. So while back when I started Linux, I had a friend using Manjaro. He was hyper sesnsitive on the packages. Like they will break, explained to me left and right. To allmost nerd rage on me, that i was so care free to installl things. Iam still to date care free to install packages on Cachyos. Then I have not encountered any problems eithers. But this video explains alot, why I have a hyper sensitive friend with a tinfoil hat on his head. When you encounter things like that. I have never experienced this issue on other Linux systems to date.
The times i borked my Manjaro just because AUR mess on Manjaro is countless
i also hate how Realtek NiC's have issues on it because of the weird drivers (my 2.5Gbps Realtek NiC worked at 100Mbps... while my 2.5Gbps Intel NiC worked out of the box at full speed)
I really want to like that distro - but only Arch based branch i can respect for now is SteamOs 3.0... which is not even released to the public xd
my borks were usually due to gnome extensions, so now i don't install extensions anymore

Think, manjaro, have one of the best concept of the linux game. Take one of the best distro, make it more stable to avoid bugs or crash, and do all the configuration for the final user.
When manjaro will success with this objective, it could be one of the best distro available.

for an aver. linux user there is no better distro than Manjaro. for the last 3 y any prog. I want install & runs... even though most youtubers hate Manjo, I love it

Just use Garuda Linux Dragonized edition, set a theme you are happy with, and be happy.
Manjaro stable arch-based distribution. I am running out of time and desire to revive the system after broken updates.
@@vladimir_fomin90 Garuda repo maintainers are doing a fantastic job. Manjaro cannot even keep their SSL certs renewed. I wouldn’t trust the Manjaro team in a lab environment. Give Garuda a try. I bet you’ll see a difference.
yeah, this video trully shows the problems with manjaro, looks really good on paper tho, if this is not ubuntu level of stable and just a slight older that arch stable then i think thats really good, i wish arch had it dealt this way really or the stable channel become more stable, but on the other hand their packaging just doesnt work well making the arch and a more 'just works' or even more stable experience, atm.
gentoo is a rolling but you don't have the latest version.
Rolling just means you don't upgrade
all manjaro tools are on the kde settings.
Nvidia is shit stop using it.
Love the look & feel of Manjaro but it's been a janky mess for years, i can't trust it unfortunately.
