Thanks for the video! At 6:15 I see what looks like an aftermarket white sun shade cover on the STBD engine access hatch. I sm curious what brand that is and if you recommend them (pros vs cons)? Thanks.
I think instead of chart plotters, the future of most boats will be data hubs like what Orca is doing and others. Its all about the ability to receive data from all external sensors, including radar, and then presenting that data back to the network in a format that mobile devices can grab and use.
Great video. Enjoying the videos more and more as time goes on. Do you feel like the boat size is big enough for the family plus guest coming and going?Obviously the bigger you go, the greater the cost and the possible need for crew becomes greater in weather. Looking to move up in a few years, 50 ft seems ideal. Cheers from local Southern Utah sailor!
Thank you, it has been enjoyable creating the videos and learning along the way. Hosting guests, regardless of space, has been a challenge. The kids willingly give up their rooms. Considering an Outremer 55, it offers ample living space compared to our Outremer 5x. In our experience, vessels like Lagoons, Leopards, and Fontaines at 45 feet are ideal for families but come with a trade-off in performance. Learn to sail in Utah? 😁🤣 Where exactly?
After sailing anywhere at 4 -5 knots the performance seems like the way to go. Believe it or not, New Castle reservoir 😂 Sand hallow and Quail Creek 😆 . Since then purchased a bigger boat and we’ve sailed off the California coast mostly! This was the first trip we took with our sketchy first boat… m.ua-cam.com/video/jbtDPaD_KgI/v-deo.html
I think the 5x is the perfect amount of boat vs comfort. To the point where the performance adds to the comfort and safety margin underway. If you ever get to do a video on a normal cat, I would be very intersted in your remarks. We all know the comfort is amazing, home like even. But how bad is it at sea? I would love to see you with a half furled genoa going upwind. I think you would be shocked.
I've only sailed my Hobie Cat since getting our boat, and I must say, there's really no comparison out there. The 5X is perfect in so many ways! But if you're looking for the next best thing, I'd recommend the 55. While you might not get the same performance, it offers great comfort along with impressive performance. Truly a joy to sail! ⛵️
@@flandersfamilytoday Yes the 55 and 52 are amazing boats. Yet the 5x is more boat and I like that. I also like the aluminium monohuls by KM yachts like bestevaer. Perfect for the North. Choices. Anyway, take a gopro and have sail on a production cat for 3 hours. I would watch that for sure
What a nice and sincere representation of your amazing cat.
You too kind!

They are just standard Lumar hatches that have been painted. They’ve been awesome!
You guys are amazing 👍 love this boat tour ✌️
We should have thrown in your amazing done footage!

Absolutely agree, and I'm eager to see what the future holds as we navigate the vast blue seas. The possibilities with Starlink are astounding too.
Ah, so you would just do ORCA to phone and that's it? Haven't thought of that. Still have to have a H5000 from B&G for Autopilot, right?
I'm not quite familiar with the ORCA. We use the Nke autopilot that integrates seamlessly with our B&G system.
"if i got pass by someone ellse,i need to buy that boat" :))🤩💪🤜👏

Be my pleasure!😊
There boat looks sweet.
Have you raced a gunboat?
Only 1 older one.😁
An ORC 57 cat is most likely faster
I was looking at the 57, it looks awesome!!!
I would love to get humbled by one.😃
Terrible sound!
😂I could not agree more!!!
