Thanks for the video. I am 65 and my hobby has always been building and flying model aircraft. I was given a Tamiya Baja Champ to restore by my daughter’s partner. He thought I had the skills to do it. I have absolute zero experience of building these cars but I set about downloading the original manual, sourcing new parts and successfully rebuilt and got the car running perfectly. The car was given to him many years ago by his dad and holds special memories. The look on his face when I gave him the car back said it all. This has given me a new interest and now I have the Tamiya Plasma Edge ready to build and my wife is buying the Tamiya Sand Viper for Christmas. Videos like this on the Sand Viper are extremely helpful. Thanks so much for taking the time to create the content. A shout out to the Tamiya Legends channel where I saw the building of the Plasma Edge. That channel also recommended a subscription to yours. Glad I did. Thanks again.
You did an amazing job with this track. The buggy looks smooth out there. You should have tried the high-speed competition that just ended. I got my dt02 to hitb71 mph lol. Nice work!
Track is looking good Keith. Yeah I really like these cars, such a great entry level car. I know it wasn't going that fast, but it looked more planted/sorted than your 201.
You are so right the DT02 is an excellent platform. My son has a DT02 which started life as a Holiday Buggy which became a sand viper. The car grew with his experience and technical level. From a 380 motor to 540 silver can all the way to a BZ motor. The car has been modified as time went on, CVA shocks, bearings and adjustable turn buckles. Just a great buggy.
Hey Keith, the DT-02 Sand Viper runs beautifully, looks smooth and stable, such a great beginners RC, much like the DT-03 Neo Fighter, comes with great hop ups as standard and easy to build. It looked hot on the day of the filming? You looked a little, well…sweaty 😎🖐️😉🫣😆Best wishes to you and the family 😉😎🖐️
Great RUn Keith one of my favorite track cars I was just looking into upgrades for my Desert Gator. I agree completely great beginner car that handles like a track car should.. I didn't know they made a slipper for it.. I like it better the dt03 on the track not that they are much different but you can feel the difference.. Color is absolutely beautiful.. Enjoyed my friend.. Thanks for sharing.. Evo would be great head Tro hEAD
Im no expert but I think this car is the best bang for the buck Tamiya. Its durable easy to build and looks good. For some reason for me It puts off nostalgia 80s vibes even though its a lot newer. It handles the sport tune well also.
Out of all my buggies, I love my holiday buggy on the dt02 chassis the most. It’s a ripper, and even with the heavy hard body omit it handles so well. Mine has Traxxas shocks on the back and a 15t hpi motor and an 18t (yes I know it’s wrong but it works) pinion, but is otherwise stock. Someday I’ll get all the dt02 based cars. The one I keep looking for is the kumamon buggy, because I wanna make Speed Buggy from the hanna barbarra cartoons. If you up that motor you’ll love that thing. Those front tires really help steer as you slide the ass a round
Agree with everything you say, its a great buggy for the money. Definitely one for beginners and more experienced alike. And yes, bring on the Hornet Evo too 😊😊
The Sand Viper is a really good, basic 2wd buggy and runs really well. I would reverse the front lower arms to get a bit of extra wheelbase which really helps. And that track, wow dude!!!
Agreed. DT02 is a great platform. Would be perfect with an "upgraded" rear gearbox, meaning a slipper, metal motor mount with larger pinion option, maybe 06 mod (or 48 dp) and some holes to help the cooling. Anyway, looked great on the track, that color suits it well 👏🤝
The Sand Viper is a great little buggy and they do drive nice right out of the box. Like you said, a little faster motor to break the rear end out when you want to would be perfect. My Holiday Buggy wit the GT Tuned is a joy to drive! It looks great in that color as well. Surprisingly those decals work well with almost any color. Not too many you can do that with.
I have a DT-02 Nissan Titan that has ended up with Sand Viper bodywork. Have also put on all the hop-ups that Yeah Racing had, alu/carbon damper towers front and rear. C-hub, steering knuckle, rear knuckle and aluminum dampers. Has a BZ motor in it and it runs very well. But perhaps the most important thing is to put on a hi-torque servo saver!😅
The paint job looks awesome and the car looked very smooth on the track. The turning radius looked pretty wide, though. Was your steering set for maximum throw? Or does the DT02 just have limited steering throw?
Try a Kyosho G20 motor in it 👍 I think that’s a well balanced motor for it. I run one in mine and it’s plenty fast. Kyosho 540 Class G-Series Motor G2X(Single 20T) 70703 - Brushed power 😎

That paint with the silver/gray wheels looks great. It was going all right for only having a silver can in it Another great Wednesday Roundup. Keith
I always wanted one of these but they looked cheap to me, now you have convicted me to get one! Thanks Keith!
Nice running car, it is certainly worthy of a little bit more motor. Thank you for the video!

Love the running videos ! I’m looking forward the the EVO myself .

It was for sure. Going to get both running like the rb5 did.

Awesome. Great car to build on.
Unreal Keith!! Happy days mate!
Thanks brother

Great paint job!
Wonderful laps. Color turned out great.

I bet that hornet will be like a hornet body on a sand viper chassis.
@@rcicons4915 here's hoping. It certainly looks good. Deposit is on one waiting

I am definitely going to try it.
That was one of my favourite wednesday round ups! Thanks a lot
Glad you liked it.

All great info. Thank you
Great looking buggy, paint choice works well.
Thank you.
Cool car definitely have to add one to the collection also driving on the track is like fishing one more lap one more cast lol
lol
You won’t be disappointed.
Maybe some front tires from a super astute? Looks awesome I love em also.
lol
Just put those on my rc10 worlds.

Thanks Addam. It really is a great rig.
I think adding timing to might take the fun out of it, great run i need to get mine built but its way down the list😅😅
lol
Always projects on the back burner.

Sounds awesome. Love hop ups that actually work.
I really like that color

Not really sure. I may have had it knocked down. Cannot remember if I set a new model when I bound it.
They need to ms every car they ever made.
lol

How did the Sand Viper handle? I would be all in for the DT02BR.
I wish they would M S a DTO 3.
And m s a d t 01.
They kind of did with the dt03 black edition.
I've never seen the DT03 black edition. You should get one.
I was looking at the nissan titan and when I looked at ease of dt02 parts it says the chassis is discontinued.
Huh. That’s weird.
