Dryfehead - let's see how badly I pronounce that. I went kind of Welsh on the word having found no other way to say it. Anyone know how it should be pronounced?

In answer to your question about travelling to rides, we have borrowed a number of your rides when we travel to an area and just make it a short stay, so we can link them together. Keep up the great work it is very informative for us oldies, even to advise where not to go with heavy e-bikes 🤪

20 minute videos and 40km rides are fine with me - and yes, I would drive 2 hours for a 49km route. I've never understood the discussions about route length - whatever works for each individual. Great content, really enjoying your rides. Thanks.

Just retired and needed inspiration to get out and keep fit and your videos provide exactly that, cannot believe there is so much amazing scenery to be enjoyed on a bike, offroad and away from cars. In answer to your question, bike trip lengths of 2-3 hours suit me, although i will choose those close to home first. Thanks for taking time to share this and making it easy to find great routes.

Just came across the channel and love the content and quality clips. This makes me wonder why I don't travel north of Carlisle more often and instead of always heading into the Lake District. Keep the cracking work coming please.

Really useful for me, coming back from a tough injury and having to do shorter and easier rides - the ones of this lenght are invaluable to me, thank you so much (Borders based) ...

Dryfehead pronounced like “Wife” and”heed” 😂. A gorgeous wee Bothy.

40-50km routes are just fine by me. Even with a roadie helmet on I often go out for rides of that length and if you are heading off-road that length of ride can be challenging enough. Not all keen cyclists are doing century rides (metric or imperial) on a frequent basis. Anyone who wants to ride further can take inspiration from your routes/videos and add to them if they like. But for me to be able to see the terrain via your GoPro and drone is both inspirational and informative so please keep it up!

The descent from Loch fell down to the bothy can't have been fun on a gravel bike, great way to extend the loop would have been to turn right at the bothy and ride to Boreland the closing miles in the forest has some much steeper climbs and descents great fun, another great loop is from Eskdalemuir upto craik in the Scottish Borders can do 28 mile or extended 35 mile loop, I did both in 2019 on the same day 65 miles and 7500ft elevation

This looks like a great route! In answer to your question about if anyone would bother travelling for them, the answer is yes, I would! I don't drive and am Edinburgh based so always looking for places I can go for an adventure that might link up to a rail route. Your suggestion of an overnight stay might be perfect for that kind of thing.

Train to Galashiels then ride and end up at the station in Lockable?

The age old question, do you drive to the ride or ride to the ride? I can see some Scottish gravel in our future and your videos have been really useful, thank you....

@@RustyRidesGravel only fair, since I have used many of your rides as the basis for our outings. So much easier when we can see what we will be faced with, hike a bike and locked gates just don’t work 😳

I think your vids are just a nice length. It’s a nice wee route as is the bothy. I’m hoping to make more use of bothies. I’m a bit like you though and can’t get my head round short routes. I like to be out all day and anything under fifty miles is a disappointment and I do line to get in the century rides. I do think I’m slowly coming to terms with shorter routes and trying to ride leisurely but like you I do a lot off faffing taking pics lol.
Hope the foot gets better soon.

i would love to ride the routes you've done up there, if i was in visiting Scotland then definitely, but from the very south of wales too that part of scotland is a little bit more than a 4 hour round trip so not for me.
