I love that tip of the hat to John Mahoney, and how Niles' son's character is named "David" after David Hyde Pierce. I miss my dad--we'd talk about this show so much. When this series started, I had just started teaching, I was newly married, and my parents had years to live. Now, they are gone, I've been married for over thirty years, I have a son, and I'm retired. I feel like Frasier is a member of my family.
I wish it was on regular tv. I won’t sign up for more channels. These previews look pretty good. It’s better than cheers, but not quite up to the original Frasier. Definitely a good show with a possibility of greatness. When will they begin streaming on U-tube?

Gotta be honest: I had a hard time with Frasier 2.0 at first. But I slowly started warming up to it mid-season. It's got that Frasier warm vibe and wit that I love about the original. Please make another one!

Yes we have to give the writer's room some time to warm up - even Season 1 of Frasier felt clunky at first (after Cheers). This show deserves the time to evolve and grow - just like the main character ...

Are you serious? The David character is so irritating that as a viewer you are happy when he's not onscreen. A weird amalgam of an obnoxious child and a 2-dimensional cartoon character, it is hard to imagine on paper how this could have ever worked on screen. Niles is from a different universe.
You're joking! He's one of the worst things about this wholly disappointing show. His character is a feeble attempt to conjure up the character/personality of Niles Crane, but the character is no Niles and the actor is no David Hyde Pierce. In addition it isn't helped by the fact that his character, like many of the supporting characters, is woefully underdeveloped, due mainly to the sub-par writing on the show.
Was a massive Frasier fan and i loved him in Cheers. I became a Psychotherapist because of him, so on a personal level, he also changed my life. Wasnt sure about a reboot without Daphne and Niles, but being a Frasier aficionado i was happy to see what happened to him after his last line "Wish me Luck" in 2004. Its like connecting to an old friend and mentor again. Im glad Kelsey Grammer continued with this project, and Frasier got to act out his third chapter back in Boston. LOVED this season. The writing was top notch, and the characters grew on me. It really was a surprising breath of fresh air that retained the originals sensibilities and sense of humor as well. That, and Kelsey is still on top of his game, so he elevates this script to his standard that pushes this series to heights no one expected. More people need to see it and to stick with it, NOT EXPECTING IT TO BE "Just like" the original. It's its own thing, and that is just fine for us.
Althogh David has said He doesn't want to reprise His role as Niles, I think he could reconsider and do at least one or two episodes in the future with Jane Levees in it as well.
I'm actually glad DHP isn't coming back to do Niles. It's better to leave it in the past. The fans never know what's best. The fans asking for him to come back is weak sauce. Those just aren't the REAL fans.

Now, Frasier has moved on as well, and is once again rebuilding himself a new life in Boston. Hopefully season two will expand onthat and maybe there may be some cameo appearances of the original cast members. Sadly, John can't, but his memory lives on.

Well, since I live in Thailand , I have not been able to see the new show. I think when I was back home, I had seen the original Frasier many times. This new show brings back so many wonderful memories of nonstop laughter. The comedic timing is still there, and Kelsy has not missed a beat. Roz was wonderful as well as how perfectly Lilith meshed with Frazier once again. If only Niles and Daphne would come back, this show would be even more fantastic. Now that Frazier is in Boston maybe a cameo from the guys from Cheers would happen. This very enjoyable watch these clips.

Old Frasier hasn’t changed enough and adult Freddie has changed too much. Lilith and Roz seem to have remained consistent. But the writing is strictly sit-com without the wit of the original. The real Frasier has left the building.
The reason Frasier was so successful was due to the supporting cast being just as funny and interesting (Niles, Martin, Daphne, Roz). These new supporting characters are just not funny.
I loved the original Frasier and I would like nothing more than to enjoy this series, but it just isn't the same, nor as good. That is not a criticism of the actors, who are giving it their all, but it just doesn't flow in the same way that the original did.
When I first started watching I liked it but it didn't seem to have that Frasier feeling for some reason. After I watched it a second time I realized it is it's own thing and have started to appreciate it for what it is. I hope they make at least 4 or 5 seasons of it and that David Peirce reconsiders and at least does one episode. It would really connect the show IMO.
Looks like they try to continue the father's character through Freddy. With the two parents Freddy had thought he would be more interesting. Luv the old show.
The problem is the quality and likability of the new cast. Kelsey is believable. His old colleague is fine. Frederick, his girlfriend, and the other new ones are not. They just don't sell it. They are acting and it's obvious. Over acting. There is no presence of character from within. Instead, we get audition level emoting from a script. I think David is cast well as his looks and mannerisms are believable as Niles and Daphne's son. And I think he could naturally improve, but again, he doesn't quite sell the character. Not on a par with Kelsy and the others from the old cast. Even if the writing is OK to good....without the right delivery and believability of the character....it falls flat. Talent seems rarer these days in the entertainment business.
Frasier was a great show with great writers. I've tried to watch the new version, but it's not close to the original. The "Best Moments" doesn't change that opinion.
Blame the terrorists for murdering David Angell. It’s hard to make a sequel feel exactly the same because the comedic situations that would be appropriate for a sitcom have to be set up, but after 30 years, characters like Frasier and Niles will have grown and improved as human beings, and so their hilarious flaws won’t be as pronounced. I appreciate this sequel series tried some dramatic swings. It is definitely a more mainstream-accessible show, a bit lower-brow. And we (the audience) has changed and grown and can see the faults and the virtues of these shows (Cheers and Frasier and Frasier 2.0) as well. You can’t step in the same river twice, as Heraclitus says. Because the river is changing, but you are changing as well. So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
Paramount or whoever else is in charge; please don’t take this show away…I loved season 1, and look forward to season 2….understand, if Fraiser (Kelsey) is in it, it’ll be gold!….100%, I think it’s a brilliant set up.

We might get Daphne, but David Hyde Pierce (Niles) declined to be in this. He’s not a fan of reboots and would rather leave Niles in his past.

I dont think Freddie is ever going to "grow" on me. His antagonism seems forced, and that's _knowing_ how insufferable Frasier is.

Nothing wrong with Kelsey but the guy who plays Freddie is truly awful, would have loved to see who else was up for that part.

I agree, something about his character just feels off and I was hoping I would like Freddy.
The Good Father episode really screams Harry Chapin's "The Cat In the Cradle".
I am trying to warm up to this series. I watch the whole series of Fraiser 1.0 and love all of it. This second Fraiser, not sure.

The problem is the quality and likability of the new cast. Kelsey is believable. His old colleague is fine. Frederick, his girlfriend, and the other new ones are not. They just don't sell it. They are acting and it's obvious. Over acting. There is no presence of character from within. Instead, we get audition level emoting from a script.
I think David is cast well as his looks and mannerisms are believable as Niles and Daphne's son. And I think he could naturally improve, but again, he doesn't quite sell the character. Not on a par with Kelsy and the others from the old cast.
Even if the writing is OK to good....without the right delivery and believability of the character....it falls flat.
Talent seems rarer these days in the entertainment business.
The one constant across the three shows is that Kelsey Grammer will always be Frasier.

Frasier was a great show with great writers.
I've tried to watch the new version, but it's not close to the original.
The "Best Moments" doesn't change that opinion.
Blame the terrorists for murdering David Angell. It’s hard to make a sequel feel exactly the same because the comedic situations that would be appropriate for a sitcom have to be set up, but after 30 years, characters like Frasier and Niles will have grown and improved as human beings, and so their hilarious flaws won’t be as pronounced. I appreciate this sequel series tried some dramatic swings. It is definitely a more mainstream-accessible show, a bit lower-brow. And we (the audience) has changed and grown and can see the faults and the virtues of these shows (Cheers and Frasier and Frasier 2.0) as well. You can’t step in the same river twice, as Heraclitus says. Because the river is changing, but you are changing as well. So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
Paramount or whoever else is in charge; please don’t take this show away…I loved season 1, and look forward to season 2….understand, if Fraiser (Kelsey) is in it, it’ll be gold!….100%, I think it’s a brilliant set up.
I hope they do 21 episodes for the second season.
